Discontinued Elevape SV

Does it require a physical connection to the computer or is it bluetooth (or whatever)? If it needs a connection how would a phone App work?

~

I was wondering how an app would work as well. Right now the unit has to be physically connected to the computer.

@Sinclue I feel your pain, I have 2 EV's and no idea what the temp settings are. I typically use setting 1 and that's it. If I am using the concentrate pad, I raise the setting to 3. This works well, cannot wait for Ipuff to upgrade their software for Mac users. To me it is only a small annoyance. The biggest thing is not knowing what the battery charge of the unit is. I believe the factory set the heat settings at good temps when my units went back for "reprogramming".

@Buildozer I meant to report back but ended up getting busy with my garden. Yes you can use the herbalizer oil pads, just need to make sure to not use too much or it can get messy. I actually put the pad on the lid screen facing up, then put the SV on top so oil doesn't get on the bottom screen when loading the pad in.

Getting some solid clouds on level 19 with the oil, and the taste is outstanding! I am also trying it without the screw in the lid, so the pad has a little more wiggle room. So far so good with it with no screen/screw and the oil pad

I've had mine for a couple of months now and still haven't hooked it up to a computer. I kind of like the OG factory presets now and know what to expect. 1 light brown, 2 dark brown and 3 concentrate. I really don't think I'll ever hook it up unless the auto-shutoff becomes adjustable.

I also like the acrylic mouthpiece that mine has. It fits so snugly that I can take a puff on it without any hands. I just don't think I'd do the same if it was aluminum, I really don't like the feel of metal between my teeth.

What kind of concentrates are you using? Are you using the herbalizer oil pads also? Just curious

I've only done it a few times. I put a tiny, well grinded layer of flower on the screen, then a little shatter and then more well grinned flower for it to soak in to and seems to work well. I've got some crumble coming soon and will try it with that too. I think I'm going to order some of those aromatherapy pads though since I'm a flavor guy. I'm just not a hugh fan of the taste when i mix the concentrate and flowers together, it's not like it's bad or anything I just prefer to taste them individually.

Quick one for you sasNW. Is the solo vapor harsher than the sv? On high temps? The vapor path seems so short.. And would you consider this unit 100% cleanable to pass borders?

Tx a lot for your multiple contributions btw, you make this vape look awesome :)

On low temps I would say they are equivalent, but somehow on higher temps the SV actually has cooler vapor! IMO
I have no idea how this is accomplished but I am able to take my bud to the edge of combustion if I want and feel no need for a water tool of any kind. There is zero throat irritation for me at any temp, with my solo I would get throat irritation at anything above level 5.

About the cleaning. Personally I would say yes I would feel comfortable taking this through customs after a cleaning. But there is only one tiny issue-
While the vapor path, bowl, lid, heater are all able to become 100% brand new in 5 minutes of cleaning.
But There is a small hole under the heater where the air comes through from the bottom half of the unit, which houses the electronics. That is the only part you are not allowed to disassemble or it can void the warranty. This hole is seen here- sorry for the iPhone pic, but the hole where the 2 rods come up to attach to the heater is also the hole the air comes through as well. The hole is only about 1/2" X 1/4" so not much will fall down at all
MCbKcAP.jpg

So when you brush off the sensor some "dust" can fall down in that hole. I talked with Joe about this and he said just normal inhaling will blow the particles out from the bottom half and back into the bottom screen. But for travel I asked if we could take it a step further with compressed air. He said as long as it's low psi(well under 50psi) you can blow out all that dust for a new 100% clean SV! IMO safe for travel wherever, but of course YMMV. Just thought I should fully cover it, because no one wants to mess up bringing a vape on a plane;)

It's been ten days roughly since I've had the sv. I now find that by opening the lid and stirring a couple of times before I raise the temp to a higher setting I can keep seeing more vapor. This is basically what has been suggested here already, and what I should've just stuck with from the beginning I guess!

Yesterday I vaped two bowls before charging the device. I'm down to pretty much my sv and a small capsule with grinded herbs for when head out. It seems like I've got enough access to micro usb charging once out of the house.

I'm sure the whole being excited about having a new gadget is playing a role, but I really really like this vaporizer.

@webnomad are you only getting 2 bowls per charge? I'm getting between 6-10 depending on how much extraction I want. About 2 grams per charge

Another little thing I'm adding to the SV kit. Nice for when you have to toss it in you pocket with a Jyarz or 2 for the day. I had a few doob tubes laying around and wanted to bring my stirrer and brush in my pocket on the go. So I cut down a doob tube to the size of the brush and stirrer included with the SV. Slides easily into the pocket with the SV for on the go cleaning or stirring

Yes, 2 complete bowls before having to charge the sv has been my max so far. But I think it's the way I vape...by the time im done with a bowl its as dark as can get (I can post a pic of my abv when I get home).

Previously someone on this thread mentioned that they get around 80 of the 8 seconds inhales per charge...

Im guessing I average around sixty 8-second draws per 2 bowls... a big chunk of that on temp level 20. Seeing if I can squeeze out three bowls is partly the reason why I've set my highest temp setting back down to 15.

@sasNW... if you average 8 bowls per charge... would I be correct in assuming you take about 10 draws per bowl then?

Yup pretty much that, usually a few more then 10 but it depends. The one time I counted I got 86 draws on the full charge, I need to do it a few more times to get a solid average though.

I'm right there with you on the full extraction, I posted my abv a couple pages back as well. I had just assumed you weren't taking that many draws per bowl, good to hear you aren't having battery problems

Of course patience with any vape is always most beneficial. Absolutely will be hooking up to a computer as well, windows is a non issue for me and temp control is a must if its a feature of the product. Draw wise I think I have a feel for it from following the thread, so I think my temps will likely be 360-380-400F for going out while I experiment with the rainbow at home...

One thing that may take more adjustment is how to grind and how to pack. Do I pack the cap or pour on the screen? I forget if it was established if that was ok or not, for it to be so the coil is below the herb on the screen with risk of it falling through. Similarly, can it be used on its side or at an angle, like with mouthpiece pointed upwards or at an angle?

Speaking of the mouthpiece as well, I guess I'm getting aluminum so draw restriction may be an issue for me as I ideally prefer none. Maybe I could use it without the screen? Anyone try using it without the mouthpiece at all like a stemless MFLB?

Oh also what's consensus on the screw in the screen for the bowl? Leave it as is for now?

The sound of vapor
'Well... I'm having issues with mine. I can easily combust (even on low settings), the battery indicator in the app is showing around 70% when the battery is actually close to being dead and doesn't heat up any more. I'll contact the SV rep when I'll find the time and sure hope it's all firmware related and can be fixed with an update. With that said I find that vaporizer to have quite a learning curve as it quite depends on how hard you draw and the packing/stirring, at least for a vape noob like me.

That stirring annoys me personally, yes it's pocketable and you can just pull it out and have a sneaky inhale but having to stir while in the middle of the street ain't that stealthy, I also which you could insert the stirring tool in the vape itself, a bit like the stylus on a DS or a Note.

It's great to be able to almost fully clean it I have to say, any owner here found out how to change the bowl screen?

Here's my take... Draw speed isn't important, just don't draw SUPER slow. As far as temps go, they're more of a guideline because as the sensor gets dirty the temp goes up. If I don't have my tools with me and I notice it's getting close to combustion then I just turn the temp down.

As far as packing the cap or bowl... you can't pack the cap, only the bowl. I live in Vegas(%10 humidity) so my flowers turn to powder pretty easily with just a finger grind and I have no problem with it slipping through the screen while packing.

It can be used without the mouthpiece but it keeps the screen in which keeps little bits from making its way into your mouth.

Only take the screw out if your planning on using concentrates with a pad.

I prefer a fine grind and a full bowl slightly packed. Like Vegas said you can't load the lid, you will get it when you have it in your hands. It's very similar to just packing a hand pipe like most of us are used to. I have loaded quite a few bowls of just pure kief, and the bottom screen is fine enough to where zero of it fell through. Only tiny particles make it through when stirring, like I said enough to where I need to clean the sensors every half ounce I put through it.
It can be used at any angle, you just won't be able to see the light of course. I occasionally use it aligned vertically when I'm walking around so it looks more like an ecig.

The aluminum mouthpiece isn't terrible, just not quite as much airflow ime. Should still be good to go though. I have tried it without a mouthpiece and you can get a LOT of airflow. I rarely get bits in the screen in front of the mouthpiece ever anyway so I would have no problem using it like that. I will try again today

Leave the screw and screen for now, personally I would give Elevape a chance to address the issue

Talked with Joe at Elevape yesterday, lots of info and seems very genuine about producing the best, safe vape out there. Cool guy for sure. And he solved my issues using the concentrate pads! Great idea, thanks again too Joe. It was so simple, I can't believe someone didn't think of it yet.
Just put the screw through the concentrate pad-
BuO2dbf.jpg

No more worrying about loading the pad in or moving it around without getting oil all over, and no worries about keeping the lid down to stop the pad from touching the bowl screen:D Very happy with the results, no more mess

I can vape flower bowls, straight kief or hash bowls, and now straight bho:rockon:
Officially my new all in one vape

Edit- I also forgot to add that he mentioned they are putting together a screen replacement kit. So we will be able to easily replace the bowl screen. One more step in being 100% cleanable to new:clap:
