We're here to fuck shit up.
There is no best. As it has been stated already, most if these Enails are all similar with small differences. The market is literally flooded with them right now. Basically, just choose a manufacturer that you've heard good things about.

can you recommend a site for all the supplies?

i want to use a ceramic nail. temps from ambient room to 1200.

thks.

I think this guide has the most complete list of parts.
http://www.reddit.com/r/CannabisExtracts/comments/1kczbg/diy_enail_howto/

Read through the comments there for how to program the pid and what settings work best. Make sure to get 5 pin xlr connectors. The only soldering required is to put the xlr connector plug on the coil and connection from the relay and temp sensor on the inside of the box to the xlr socket. I don't know about using ceramic for an enail, I have seen it done but don't have any experience with it. Someone here can probably help you or check out the enail subreddit http://www.reddit.com/r/enail/

FWIW I dab at between 600 and 700°F

edit: I suppose being able to get it to red hot would help in cleaning the nail.

Just for fun, I built a dual e-nail setup using the standard design and the MYPIN TA4 PIDs and the new XLR connector. Got the programing done and its working nearly as good as my D-nail original unit.

Going to build a triple for my buddy's dab bar where we hang alot. Nice glass bar in a semicircle made out of glass. Figure setting up three stations with complete control would help avoid passing pieces around. Also, easy to compare nail step-ups or even different glass itself. Typically run a 20mm dish, 18mm female quartz nail on one rig and a Omni nail from Santa Crus Shredder using a 10mm coil and the standard D-nail base. Tried out the original rev 1.1 TI nail (10mm coil) and the new 20mm dish rev 1.2 TI. For TI nail use the Omni nail is the best so far. Just bought the top section from SCS and use the original D-nail base and coil. Also bought the new rev 1.2 top since I use a 20mm coil on the quartz. About $450 out of pocket with coils and 2 nails.

Also bought the cheaper coils from AliExpress.com. Comes pre-wired with the XLR male plug wired compatible to the production D-nail XLR female panel connector. Only $60 ea. Uses the same sleeve etc. only thing takes time to get and shipping is a bit high. $16, then $6 for each additional.

Hi @amberevil good catch. It used to be $70 for the heating element, or $100 bundled with a $30 nail.

Now they list the heater for $75, as well as a $150 bundle that includes the $30 nail as well as a $25 carb cap and a soft carrying case.

I hope to see a review of this soon!

So how's this thing holding up @PhotoRider? Interested in doing a project like this however I'm more interested in a single coil unit.

@215z what's this $150 unit you're talking about?

It just sounds to good to be true. I want to go e nail sence reading this thread. I just want to save my money. I currently dab on titanium but dont have my mind set one way or another. From many posts ive read here about different nail materials, it seems they each just have there own pros and cons. But low temp enails for sure, and a carb cap. Ive never even used a carb cap.

Well, have not used my old dnail since I built this dual. Unless a component fails, not much to go wrong really.

The secret sauce is the PID values and stability from them. Dnail locks you out of that area on their menu, maybe your values are not as precise, but they work very well.
