The quality of the ABV (Bud it came from) will make a difference in the potency and quality of the Coconut Oil. My father has been using the oil at a rate of about 3 tablespons a day he is 68 and has arthritis, he thinks the Oil is holy water because it has accomplished what years of taking pills could not it has reduced his inflamation and now he can move much much better without any pain. Glad I checked out FC on this one for sure, I had been throwing my ABV away and had stopped vaping all together (Love my bong high) but now I am back to vaping at least once a day so I can get my ABV stash back up. As soon as I have 28g of ABV more Oil is being made.

? has anyone used bubblehash to make Oil? I am curious and would like to try but dont want to waste the hash if it is known not to work. Whipped up my own batch of bubblehash I have around 30 grams of Top shelf Grape Ape bubble I would like to use 5-10 grams (leaning towards 5g) with 2-3 cups of Coconut Oil and 4 tablespoons of Soy Lecithin.

Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated I will probably make the batch in 3 or 4 days.

yES you can definitely use any type of hash to make your oil. Check out this website for tips and recipes.
This is a great rabbit hole to wander down.

I think the problem with abv tinctures is that we want them to taste good and there is no fucking way.

I agree 100%. I mean, has anyone in their combustion days ever rolled a blunt/joint with vaped weed? It tastes terrible, likewise making tincture with burnt/brown herb is gonna taste terrible.

I am surprised at how good the tincture tastes from the Magical Butter, even with decarbing the nugs before putting them in the machine.

Hey FC I havnt been loged in for a while.

I ordered mine not to long ago, I've been procrastinating for far too long now, currently awaiting shipment! I have recently been experimenting with edibles by making my own canna-oil ,using my left over ABV saved up from my Solo. The oil came out great, every time.I love the way the edibles hit me, i never felt better. I will leave a review on the MB2 once i receive it and have a chance to use it. Looking forward to having edibles that are consistent every time.

I orderd mine from the mb2 website.. been two weeks, they told me Monday should be the shipment day. I can't wait ,I've been dreaming of smoothies, brownies and cookies :)!

I read on the web page that the warranty is voided if bought on amazon or eBay :/. Hopefully you won't need it, looks like a well built machine . I would have went the Amazon route if I knew I would be three+ week wait thru the magical butter web site ;P

Outletboy, If something happens and the Magicsl Butter Maker stops working, I will go through Amazon and get a replacement through them. I didn't know Magical Butter had stated that on their website.

I had read about some of the folks unhappy with going through the Magic Butter website is why I went through Amazon. I've never had a problem with Amazon with any product they have sold.

I had been waiting for Planetvape to get them back in. They've been out every time I've checked.

That info is important thanks for letting folks know.

It states directly on the box if you buy through Amazon or EBay you can't get an exchange through them. That's only fair, I received mine today, I bought it through Amazon. I plan on making some ABV and coconut oil. The container of oil says 14oz I will get more. I think I have about 3 oz of ABV saved up. I plan on trying 28 oz ABV vs 28oz oil. I hope that turns out strong enough?

I will be getting some Afghan Goo trim on Friday. I will also try that out. I'm a little nervous about the alcohol tincture. I don't want anything causing an explosion. I'm a little intrigued with the edible glycerin though. It doesn't cause any problems does it, like alcohol being explosive? Folks probably think I'm being paranoid. I'm just unfamiliar with it.

I don't want to waist any top shelf herb. I need to figure things out first with this big machine. I'm getting an oz of Blue Dream, I don't want to use that. Folks that grow their own are at an advantage. I wish I had the throwaways of some of our members (not naming names).

EDIT: I realized I have one container of virgin coconut oil and one container of reg refined cocnut oil. They're both organic. I was going to use both because they each have 14oz they are the same brand. Will it cause a problem if one is virgin and one not? Is it more likely to burn?

@CarolKing the only thing you will need to worry about with an alcohol tincture is if you are above sea level. There are high altitude problems with the machine and you need to add more liquid if you are at high altitude.

Be careful not to overfill the machine. It could spit all over the counter if you do. I find that keeping the level between the minimum and maximum lines is best.

And there's no reason not to mix the olive and coconut oils. My only thought would be to maybe melt the coconut oil and mix it with the olive oil prior to adding it to the machine.

People have also been posting that they find it best to decarb the herb prior to putting it in the machine (rather than letting the machine decarb for you). Then use the machine at the 160 degree setting rather than amping up the heat.

Mines shipped from Washington yesterday! The MB2 has a decarbing feature?. I'm thinking that decarbing might be a little bit of a problem for me personaly due to the strong odor the process of decarbing in the oven might emit.:|

Wait, what olive oil?
:freak:
 That's what I get for posting before I've finished my coffee!!!

Sorry @CarolKing .... it would help if I opened my eyes before reading. Combining the two coconut oils should be fine.

Edit to add:

Okay, I just checked with @Dreamerr , who is my "go to" person regarding the MB machine. For high altitude use, check this site to see how much over sea level you are. If you are using Everclear 190 proof, you need to add 1/2 c. of water for every 1000 ft. over sea level. You should check your liquid level every hour or so because the alcohol evaporates off faster in higher altitudes. If you are using 151 or Everclear 150, then you can skip this step, but still need to check your liquid level every hour or so. More water can be added if necessary.

The liquid level still needs to be below the maximum line.

@outletboy Yes the MB machine does have a decarb feature for the first 10 minutes of every cycle. It's fine for salves, but if you are planning on making edibles, an additional decarb prior to starting has been found to be beneficial.

Thanks for helping me out with all this useful info. I ran to the head shop to buy scales. I couldn't find anything at Office Depot that would work. I want to do this right. I am using 20 oz. of oil and 40 grams of ABV with plenty of life left in it. It should be done in 15 min or so.

Then the mess of straining it. I have a large glass bowl, fine mesh collandar and cheese cloth. I don't think I will use the bag that came with to strain it. I had ordered soy licethin from Amazon so I used that.

I'm anxious to see how well it works. I'm going to try dosing myself before adding it in a recipe.
I don't want to over do it. That's not fun.

EDIT: I ended up using the colander and cheesecloth. Then did another filter using the Magical Butter bag filter. Took a little taste and it has a real good flavor. Tonight I will try figuring out the dosing. Don't want to do it during the day. I have too much to do. I don't want to risk couch lock during the day. I am having a hard time turning my brain off at night so I don't mind if I get couch locked at night. I welcome that right now.

Here's a couple pics of the finished product. Very easy. With the butter method it's harder to strain? I found the coconut oil very easy.

Tried a tablespoon last night and got sleepy and fell a sleep at a reasonable time. I didnt notice feeling too medicated. Took the oil mixed in with a little warm honey at 7 and was asleep at 11. A 1/2 cup equals 8 tablespoons. It made a little more than this container. I didn't loose too much oil in the straining.
I will use the other for suave. I have some essential oils I will try just a drop. This was a very easy project.

I've run my first batch of oil and was really pleased at how easy and efficient this machine is. I combined olive and coconut oil for the infusion.

Also made Batch #1 of my salve... I'm calling it "Mom's Green Miracle," lol... I need a better container for my pouring, something with a spout, so I don't make such a mess!
