Frit repair??

Almost there...
Panic stations!!!!
:cuss::doh::cry:

I recently bought a GBD frit tube from an FC member here and absolutely love it, or loved it...

I was rinsing it out with fresh, hot water and the centre of the frit disintegrated!!! I noticed it was looking a bit thin and was being extra careful.

Does anyone know if a frit can be repaired??
Would love to have it working again!

Maybe you can contact the artist,he may be able to ,Im not a glower but I would imagine the can/tube would have to be opened to acess the perc,or at least common sense would point to it.Dont know if he may say his bad and do it for free:shrug:
If your in area where there are locals who are glowers ,I would ask around. May or may not be worth it, depending on the what they want for repair. Sam seems to do very nice work but I have only been an observer of his art. I have always liked his frit side car, with removable MP, sweet!

I'm pretty certain in order to repair that the entire can would have to be remade. Probably more likely to get a discount on a new piece.

A pic would help though

I have sent an e mail to GBD, although they do not ship to Canada so i do not hold too much hope for them...
Also found another place in the States that repairs broken glass, also e mailed them.

Hoping for the best!

Only birdshit and fools
With the top being open like that, there is a chance for it to be repaired. If you got a rosebud type torch and some frit you might get lucky

I'd be posting those pics in the gone but not forgotten thread. That frit is so fucked I'd never trust it again even after a repair. Fuck combustion, and fuck glass bits and dust. I'm sick of flavor-robbing frits anyway. Gave up on them after that Simba MD exploding frit disaster. I have a honeycomb and frit piece from Atomic that I'm ready to throw on the roof or put up for a contest (guess how long before the frit disintegrates...)

Heard back from one repair place, they will not touch it...

Pretty bummed that I wasted so much money on this tube...

I actually loved this piece!
Even though I owned it for a week, the flavor I got was amazing.
Thinking I will not be buying another frit though...

I am thinking my custom Klein Incycler will take its place!

I had the same piece!
Loved it!

Broke it the first day I used it.
The tubes were too thin.
The FRIT craze is kind of lame?
Sweep the glass shaving off the floor heat to melt the glass into a blob?
If the artist does it right the diffusion is wonderful. If it's someone trying to copy your chances for success are slim.

Mine was unrepairable.
Your falling apart frit being on the inside is done. The glass blower did not use enough heat I guess?

Good luck!
