Hello just joined the FC family and just needed a bit of help. Has anyone ordered an ascent from china. I was thinking of ordering a sample of the ascent from a site called alibaba that cost $115 includeing shipping. Its the same box and items included as davinci.Should I buy it?

Contact Davinci and ask them. I bet they will say they are not an authorized seller.

EDIT: I am in stereo. I'm talking about the same thing in the Solo thread.;)

I just checked Alibaba's website, it looks like it's through something called Ivaped.
It's an Ascent under a $100 - it's too good to be true. It's got to be a fake. Stay away. They will take your money and sell you junk.

You know there's a good chance that these are flat out counterfeit. Which is better than rejects from normal production. Both are pretty common, sadly. It looks to be Gray (rather than Black) Market to me, but 5000 miles away it's hard to see clearly.

And then there's the ethics of buying what some might see as 'hot goods'? I think DaVinci has earned a cut of the profits from the market they created. If these guys are up to some of the sort of stuff Magic Flight lists on their page, I personally want no part of it.

I personally ordered a "Zoly" clone of the Revolution that TV made in the Bay Area. It's a fair attempt, like some of the fake MFLBs, parts even interchange (although they're made differently in places. They make no claim to be selling genuine units at half price like we see here?

That new fellow from DV, their new rep was by a few days back, hopefully he can drop in and give us the straight story? I'm sure folks would like to know.

Minimum order is 20 units. Need to get a group of people to go in on them.

Yeah, but they can supply you 60,000 units a month........ That's only 2000 a day if you work weekends. And they do.......

Edit: Sorry, my mistake......60K a week. Now we're talking triple shifts with mandatory OT just to unpack. They must have a huge production facility........

Very fishy that one...

I see vaporblunt, firefly, davinci, and so on....looks like about every new portable is being copied by them...or might they be the producers themselves looking for a bit of extra income?

This reminds me of one of my favorite top-gear moments

IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE - IT IS!

Stay away, have you seen how many people on this thread have reported problems with their Ascent? Are you willing to waste money on something that has had issues in the past (which are completely covered under warranty if you buy from an authorized vendor). Sorry, but I work hard for the money I have. I'm not willing to give it up if the quality and warranty isn't there.

Cheap glass is one thing - it will still function even if the build quality is bad. High-tech & high-temperature electronics on the other-hand are something I don't mess around with. I've seen too many low quality electronic components fail and cheap batteries explode to risk my money on anything less than quality hardware. ESPECIALLY when it comes to something I'll be using for medicinal purposes - God knows what kind of toxins might be off-gassed while that knockoff ascent is running at 400F!

I was also thinking about buying the F-bomb for my Ascent, but it was kinda expensive over at Vapefiend. Especially seeing as I have to buy the 14 or 18 mm GonG water tool thingy as well. Or should I just but the "U-shaped" bong accessory and a brand new bong? Anyone got some input?
get the pinnacle micro shower on ebay or other sites its 100$ but i got mine for 60 bucks i seen it all over 59.99$ made me love the ascent from hating it fits with 14mm str8 water tool perfect also google double inline glass water pipe from pipesdaddy.com and order that pipe i mentioned with a 18 or 14 mm u water tool but adapter needed and it works better then ever 10 x better then the micro shower pinnacle but that is just fine if u dont want to spend 100$

Go to the Cheap Glass Bubbler sub thread on FC. Look for vaporizing discussions. Look for Glass. You will find some great bargains. I bought a bubbler for $30 including shipping. They are knock offs but good quality. They have the fake FBomb, I'm not sure how much is is. I'm sure about 1/3 price of the FBomb or the Pnp micro shower.

EDIT:
It's OK to buy glass knock offs, as long as it's good quality. I'm letting you know there is a cheap glass sub thread you might be interested in. You can save a lot of money buying glass on that thread. Just a suggestion. Go where the better deal is. I'm all for saving money.

The ones I speak of are not knock offs and on eBay the pinnacle micro shower as low as $45 with shipping. So for the 15 even 25$ its worth it. I love my ascent and I had herbalizer which is best vaporizer made vap critic rated it number 1 overall. Lately I found myself since I got these water tools using davinci but that's cause herbalizer so powerful I don't need that I gag my brains out just fine with the pinnacle micro shower N ascent. Its worth money. As don't sat around for months herby all I used now I use both. Good idea tho for people who can't afford the more expensive stuff good post just wanted to give my opinion on the cheaper ones cause I tried them doesn't compare to pinnacle or the inline bubbler eBay sells u tools and str8 tools for 23 and 32$ free shipping that's cheaper then davinci cause shipping and 3 bucks cheaper

nojail101,
Hello People!!! I am returning to the Ascent thread to see how they are performing and holding up. I really love the design. I just recall there being some minor problems initially when launched. I just want to know how's vapor output and reliability. Sorry if this seems like an annoying question to some.

Howdy Mr Connoisseur! ;)

I've only had my Ascent a couple weeks so far but I have to say I LOVE IT!!

Learning proper packing and drawing technique is key with this device, and reading through this thread was extremely helpful in getting me up to speed with those things. Once you've got a good load packed down firmly (but not too firm), and possibly even placed a few glass flower screens on top for spacers as needed, then the vape is top notch. The draw is looser and less suck-age needed than for example with the Solo.

Even when I'm at home, I find myself reaching for my Ascent over my Solo. Possibly it's just the newness factor, but I haven't had to stir my load halfway through like I do with the Solo. (Though I sometimes have to pack my puck down a little bit when I'm using some of my fluffier blends.) But when the bowl is spent, I've always gotten nice, evenly brown ABV, a feat I never quite accomplished with the Solo, even though that does put out tasty vapor as well.

@CheriePie : you got the last version indeed... and yes the small "lip" tends to destruct itself with time (and my bad it's on the upper part not the lower as I said)

Thanks for the confirmation that my unit is indeed up-to-date. I guess my pics can serve the community as visual confirmation that the latest fixes are incorporated even in models with the 1AA1 serial number/production code.

The puck shouldn't unpack unless A) you didn't pack it enough in the first place B) you drew too hard C) you shook the device... or D) your material was of fluffy consistence and became looser as it dried.

I'll take D for the win Maestro! :p

Yeah I'm an MMJ patient here in Cali so I have several different strains at my disposal at any given time. :leaf: And several of them--particularly the ones best suited for my migraines--are quite fluffy after grinding. Add to that the fact that they're all fresh, sticky buds--none of those dried out little nubs I used to have to rely on--and indeed a of the drying out definitely occurs during the first few hits of a new bowl.

To make your bowl last longer start at low temps and increase the temperature once each level is depleted. Also try to find a flash light or use your phone and hold it near your mouth when you exhale, it helps to visualize how much more vapor there is in reality. Do that a couple times to train your brain to associate the taste and feelings in your lungs to "good hit", then you will be able to stop making a fixation on visible vapor exhale.

Yup this is exactly how I hit it (and with my Solo as well). I love the taste at the lower temps, and also being able to get maximum mileage from my bowl at the higher temps. :)

I'd say conduction then a lot of radiant heat once it's going... If it was conduction only, the bowl would be green on the top and black near the walls, whereas in practice ABV is uber uniform.

@Davinci_vaporizer : glad someone from you company is back, now could you please give us an update concerning the air leak / revised buddy rim silicone? We're also waiting for your official spacer, everyone is using glass flowers this is ridiculous! Btw the Indica comes with a spacer and everyone is happy.
Thank you for the welcome. These are both very important issues to us and we are working very hard researching and developing new ways to provide a better vaporizing experience. If anyone has any suggestions or comments please feel free to share!

Alibaba is definitely not an authorized reseller. They do not have any product from us at all.

I'll give you even money they also don't have any Ascents in stock either. I strongly doubt they even own one yet? Sure, order a bunch from them and they'll get right on it.....

They got some nice photos, though. Anyone recognize them? Don't we have some history with 'them' taking others photos from the web and representing them as their own???

Thanks for the heads up, looks like a good one for avoiding to me.

The spacers have not been forgotten! We are constantly working with new ways to improve our vaporizer, if anyone has any suggestions they are more than welcome.

My Ascent has been used almost daily for going on 10 months and has been a faithful companion. I have been using some glass beads as filler and it's worked perfectly. That being said, in that same time period I have been hoping that DaVinci would have gotten around to designing a spacer by now, especially since I was put on a list to receive one once they came out in that same time frame. Suggest during the interim you folks should include some various sized borosilicate glass beads packaged with the Ascent as a tide over.
