My Kleen Xtract is ordered too. But I don't have a clue what to do with it when I get it. I'm all set up for BHO. Never tried QWET.

You can get everything you'd need at Walmart ;).

My personal shopping list was something like:

2x Glass Measuring Cup
2x Pyrex Dish
Parchment Paper
SS Colander
Coffee filters
Latex Gloves
Pancake Griddle/Hotplate

ditch the coffee filters and get SS mesh filters in 10, 25, and 50 micron.

why 3 diffrent sizes? or is that a range of sizes to try and im misunderstanding?

sorry for the confusion. i mentioned those because its what i use. i would suggest using either the 50 or 25 first and finish with the 10 micron. that 10 micron mesh will really clean your return up. the others will as well, but i just like the idea of using the 10 to finish it off.

Anything else? I'm already on the lookout for a hot plate with precise temperature control.

look at the induction stuff.

I got a nuwave2 at walmart for 99 bucks and it came with an induction skillet. just find a pyrex that fits in it. I place my vacuum chamber in it. I also used it for a hot water bath with a pyrex pie plate sitting on top the skillet of water.

makes me feel stupid for giving the nuwave crap back in the day... its the tits for precision from 100f up in a plug and play box.

ethanol is safe to just evap in a pyrex dish with just a fan blowing over. no additional heat needed, any heat causes loss of terps

I used to feel the same way until one time I got sick of shatter every time, and said "fuck this I'll add some heat to get some sap." I cranked the heat up and kept melting it until I got sap. It was my tastiest batch.

I can't explain that, but its not always no heat for best flavor IMO.

It's because by heating it up higher you cause it to lose terps faster. That's why it smells so nice, all the terps are being released.

I generally find that smell is better for less stable material but taste is better in stable. I prefer stable because if I really wanted after a while of being left out (oxidizing) the stable will turn to sap/budder and release terps to make it smell just as nice (at the cost of the taste).

hahahaha with all due respect, you guys likely have no idea what you are talking about! :p

ISO purchases in bulk make for cheaper solvent purchases than Butane (at least here).

Where in the world is ISO99 cheaper than Butane?

....at any rate the original question was about professional extraction companies most of whom will be located in places where ISO99 is more expensive than Butane.

Whoa, my notifications got ruined a long time ago now! I missed this thread developing.

I can second the fact that when I have made absolute shatter, it generally has less flavour than other extractions. This does not mean less high though. My current LWET absolute shatter gets me higher than any past extraction, despite almost no taste/faint generic errl taste.

I have run multiple QWISO batches. The last batch I did I extracted 2.1g beautiful extract from 15g of cured but reasonably fresh bud. I am using bud I have grown myself, I believe you get more off bud that has been handled as little as possible.

My technique is to do multiple short washes (30 secs) using very cold bud, jar and alcohol.
I do 4 washes directly one after the other for the first batch and another 2 or 3 for the second batch. All this is done directly I take everything out of the freezer. If I re-freeze I always end up with some dark nasty gunk, i guess the alcohol still in the bud breaks down a lot of chlorophyll which ends up in the final product.

After evaporation my result is shatter. After I leave it in a little container for a few days it sort of pulls itself together (a bit like terminator) into a single pretty hard amber coloured mass.

I am building up a bit of a resistance but we (my wife and myself) still don't manage to get through more than 1gm per week with the occasional vape (Solo) of pure bud.

I voted Bubble Hash all the way because it's cheapest around these parts and I find gives me the most bang for buck.

What I don't get is why solvent extracts cost 4 to 5 times more. I get that solvent costs money, but I thought it was a distributed cost to all users (e.g. not a lot was used per run.)

How much iso or butane is used per oz of marijuana, if you don't mind my asking?

Butane would be 1-2 cans per ounce. but I think the price comes in from the small return you get and the time required (plus tools required) to purge it all off.

Every time I have made QWISO I have never been able to completely remove the alcohol taste which is a deal breaker for me. Are any of you pros able to completely remove the alcohol taste from QWISO?

I very much prefer BHO because of this. In fact I have quit concentrates because I dislike QWISO and with BHO I do not want to die in a explosion.

Man, if you still taste alcohol, you have a fair bit more purging to do! I have definitely found that the majority of people I know who make concentrates (mostly BHO) do not fully purge their concentrates, even when using a vacuum. Remember that purge time can vary and you should be purging QWISO until there is absolutely no smell or taste of iso left in it! Please people, don't rush the purge. If you're gonna get stupid, let it be on the green and not on solvents! :)

So last harvest I turned some of my plants into bubble hash, but this time around I'm thinking of some QWISO, although QWET has me interested just because folks say it evaps on its own and produces shatter easiest (based off what I read in this thread).

I already got most of my supplies for doing this and just want to know, around what is the purging time per 16 oz of ISO? If anyone has a figure for Ethanol I'm all ears.

I'm thinking I'll leave it out in the sun to dry, which will take longest, but I don't want to fuck it up my first time.

If I use a hot plate I'll keep it below 95 Fahrenheit. Anyone got an idea about how long the evap time is? I just want to know so I do your purge/evap time at the least and don't have iso in my product.

Also anyone have a good tell sign for when it's done? What should I be looking out for when it's nearing the end. This is the only part I'm hung up on. All your experience is greatly appreciated.

I haven't seen qwiso anywhere around here, but I don't shop at shops too much. I try to get deals from local people and it must be unanimous. BHO. But I want to try this. Especially if the end result of a well purged product is indistinguishable from BHO.
