Discontinued Elevape SV

It's awesome to see more people trying this vaporizer out! I have had mine for exactly a week now. I'm just loving this thing more and more. Like I mentioned already, I'm fairly new to the world of vaporizing... so since I don't believe I'm qualified to talk about vapor quality, draw restriction, vapor clouds and the like, I will tell you how my average day this past week has looked like...

Cleaning out the sv, and adding a fresh bowl doesn't add more than a couple of minutes to my morning routine. Once out of the house, I'll sneak a few hits every hour or so. I'll keep the sv in my pocket housed in the little pouch originally meant for the free metal grinder from vapornation. Conveniently, only the mouthpiece sticks out of the pouch. Since I usually follow the path of least resistance, (i.e. I'm lazy), I can't be bothered with stirring the bowl every 2-3 draws, especially when I'm outside. I imagine that those who constantly stir are getting much more even browning, but when I'm out and have nothing but the actual sv on me I'm satisfied enough to just cycle up the temp settings, after every half dozen draws. Lately I have had the three temps set at 5/10/20. After vaping at the highest temp setting. I'll open up the lid and manually stir the bowl by knocking on the sv, or dumping the bowl in the palm of my hand and back again into the bowl. I set my temp settings to the lowest and again cycle up the temps, but this time only after a few draws. Currently my rate seems to be one bowl for the half day when I'm out, and two bowls in the evening when I have less to do. Which works rather nicely, since it seems I can wait after the first bowl when I'm out to go back to the carrying case to use the stirring rod for a couple last draws to make sure its all done, the cleaning brush to get the sv ready for a second bowl, and perhaps the use small usb cable with a car charger to give the elevape a little bit more juice before getting home. Up until now I haven't been able to determine how effective the car charging has been.:spliff:I used the Alan pin provided twice to disassemble and clean the elevape, and it seems like that'll be a once a week process.

I think my level of appreciation for this device didn't hit its peak until I first disassembled the sv. It's simple and solid, and made me feel that not only will I probably be able to maintain this little device for a long time, but I'll be able to keep it as clean as when I first got it...which is major points for an OCD guy like me.

Beside relying on the carrying case a lot in the car, I also find it pretty convenient at home... I ripped out the rubbery foamy placeholders in the case, and I now have enough room to also store a small vial of grinded herbs, and so now I pretty much can keep the house paraphanilia-free. When I'm home I usually keep the sv charged and connected to the pc using a longer usb cable. I wonder if that is bad for the battery?

You really do feel that everything you need to stay toasty for several days could be all placed in the small case. Perhaps the only disappointment there is the fact that you can't change the temp setting unless you're go back to your computer... or unless of course you find someone who has a pc and is willing to let you download the software on it. That is really the only thing that software does. The battery meter is just too quirky.

Thank you everyone for the detailed reviews in this thread! You all have really helped me out a lot. I'm a little tight on cash, so every review, picture and video helps in the final decision. I've had too many impulse buys in the past go wrong! Plus, at this point, this would be a purchase out of "want," not need.

I'm perfectly happy with my daily driver, but the idea of this portable is extremely enticing. I think of summer days at the beach, or a night at the club, a fun concert, relaxing days at the park, etc. and how this device would be such an easy way to elevape the day even more. Yes, I did that on purpose :D

My ultimate conclusion: The second a new model is released with a self-stirring mechanism (button-triggered, perhaps?), and improvements in design for more even-cooking (no more dark spots), I'll buy one. Or if the price is good enough when it goes to massdrop. Only 4 votes to go to qualify! https://www.massdrop.com/vote/portable-vaporizer-4

I wrote Joe an email a few days ago telling him I had this great idea to replace the screw in the lid (wich holds the mesh screen in place) with a longer bent "screw" so if you turn the lid, you stir the material but Joe said they had almost exactly that idea but it seemed to clog the screen much faster so they decided to just use a screw.

I've been talking with Joe about the unit on and off for a few weeks, and I really think using a flat top screw on the cap would help. One that sits flush with the screen, like the screws that hold the body on. So there would be nothing poking into the bowl to effect the airflow and cause heat retention:2c: I have full faith that they are still going to tweak this unit a bit for improvements

What about just getting rid of the screw? If the rim on that was just a smidge bit taller and we had screens that were just a bit bigger than the diameter then they could just be wedged in, like with the old school little metal hand pipes.

edit: Maybe even put a little lip on the rim to help keep it in place, of course you'd still be able to poke it out from below.

Would probably work, but might be more work then it's worth. It would just be hard to find the right balance of being able to get it out to clean vs. making sure it won't fall out when you're on the go and taking the cap off IMO. A flush screw just seems like the easiest way for both user and manufacturer in the end:2c:

Just my thoughts on it. I've actually got a little list of improvements (IMHO) that i plan on bringing up with Joe when we talk this afternoon

I don't think getting it out to clean would be too hard once you find the right bend on a paper clip, which would fit through the wide air path openings from below. Do you think aerodynamics would come in to play at all with a flat screw vs the current rounded screw? Or is the air moving too slowly to make a difference?

I like the idea of no screw, just with mass production and the variance in screens it seems like it could cause a lot of lost ones. Definitely worth a shot though

I do think the screw will play a roll in the aerodynamics, just not sure how much. For all I know they did try a flat screw, but went with rounded for just that reason. I'll ask joe today

Finding the right size screen to wedge in there doesn't seem like it would be super hard. Finding the screen size that they did and then having to drill a hole perfectly in the center is tougher I would think. Plus the screens without the hole in the middle would be cheaper to buy, so much so that I might buy a ton of them and never clean those screens again. I'm lazy so I might just take it out, throw it away and put in a new one.

That would be cool. I hear you on the lazy part, most the time I don't even take my screen out to clean it. I just fill up the cap of my ISO bottle halfway, then set the SV lid in it, screen down of course. Cleans the screen and inside of the cap perfectly, without unscrewing or getting the oring wet with ISO

Perfect for the lazy man, gets it to brand new in minutes. And all it takes is pouring a little ISO into the cap of the bottle

Great tip, thanks! I'll definitely be doing that next time.

I imagine that if a stirring mechanism is introduced as you guys suggested, it might only require upgrading to a new chamber lid.

But ya, not having evenly cooked herbs is my main annoyance now. As with most products you buy that usually start of as feeling too big for you pocket, I'm getting used to walking around all day with the sv in my pocket.

and its cheaper to buy it at the other website with the 16% off code as well.

actually it looks like vapornation extended its 20% off deal for another 5 days so Im in luck!

Sorry for the interrupt. I own a ff. the reason I got it was the thought of instant vapor. I've found its a device that the 2nd, and 3rd hit and so on is what I'm looking for. Is this a device that delivers a cloud on a instant, or is it a device you need to have time to complete a full packing?

At any time I have 10 seconds I can get a cloud. If there's bud in the SV then you get clouds if you want, that simple:)

Just for fun today I measured my average load in the sv, what surprised me
was that it was only 0.05 grams !! Just two tokes each for my wife and I and we both were
medicated well enough, that was on setting 1 ( 8) wich gave us great clouds.
we could repeat this on setting 2 (12) and later on setting 3 (16) with each of those settings
a different effect. This is fun stuff !
Also, since we have the elevape, we don't go anywhere without the SV charged, loaded and always
ready to give us a great hit, always and anywhere.

I just discovered this vape by reading this thread tonight, seems it's been flying under the radar somehow. I seem to be collecting a nice assortment of vaporizers searching for that perfect portable. I suppose i'm very taste sensitive, after using my FF and Lotus, I can't even use my others due to the taste of the vapor. I am always looking for the one I can take out with me, the ones I like really are not very portable. The Pax and Indica work well as portables but the taste is not ideal. If someone reading this is also taste sensitive and has used the FF and Lotus, can you compare the taste to these? I don't want to drop a bunch of cash on another vape if the taste is not as clean as these. If the Elevape is truly comparable to the FF and Lotus in taste it may be the one I've been looking for.

I feel the same way. I used to think that if I ever needed real stealth on a long trip that I would get another pax, add some mentos caps for smell, and suffer the taste and inefficiency. But now I'm thinking about the elevape instead, it seems like a big step up from the pax even though it's not quite as pocketable.

I've missed most of the last 3 or 4 pages, so I'm sorry if this has already been covered, but have you tried the Oil Pad yet @sasNW?

It looks like this vape can handle a bubbler well, I'm quite impressed..
I'm really not all that into portables, but this thing has my interest!

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right
This one is really tempting, but I can't find any Mac version of the software. All that seems to be available on their site or on Vapornation is the PC version. Without the software capability you not only are stuck with factory presets and you can't even tell what they are!

Does it require a physical connection to the computer or is it bluetooth (or whatever)? If it needs a connection how would a phone App work?
