Damn, been experimenting alot outside on the patio on temp 2....i think i'm addicted to low temp vapour! I can make my sessions last practically forever and really extend the taste and vapour.

I don't think Arizer would ever dump the Solo, nor the V-Tower/Extreme for that matter. Do you know how old the V-tower is? My personal speculation is something more like an e-cig/pax/inhalater type ultra portable, OR they will release some new attachments/accessories for the Solo....otherwise I think it's a rumour and everything will remain status quo. If I was Arizer I would retire in the tropics and live off the fruits of their labour!

After i'm satisfied and I don't taste anymore or see vapour i'll dial it up to 5 or 6 and get some nice high temp cloudage that satisfies my ABV to medium brown. I just like savouring for a longer period sometimes, vs killing it with high temp. I'm still not grinding, and only sometimes break down the load mid cycle.

That's neat. So does 1 or 2 packs actually get you ripped?
Also, if I used this in the shower with a few random sprits of febreeze, and used a sploof, would it be covered completely odor-wise?

I already ordered a new batterypack two days ago and today a complete new solo with gong and watercooler. Guess I'll take one last "run at 7" test to compare the batteries (also 2012 solo with new battery-set vs standard 2014 solo)

I'm doing it all wrong?
I can't go over 4?

I think i'm the one that's doing it all wrong!
I can barely get any vapor from heat 3 or 4, but the flavor is amazing.
Feels like I have to struggle to get much of a hit, so i give up and crank it up to 6.

This is dangerously close to "hiding from parents" chat, but i can at least tell you that a sploof isn't very necessary. Just, you know, hot water and such. Just don't get the Solo wet.

seems like many like level 6?
Level 4 is flavor an effect.

There are other places with showers besides the parents house. I just don't want to self incriminate myself. Are you positive nothing is needed to conceal the smell of a vaporizer in a hot shower?

There are other places with showers besides the parents house. I just don't want to self incriminate myself. Are you positive nothing is needed to conceal the smell of a vaporizer in a hot shower?

That all depends... Does whoever you are trying to keep it from smoke or vape? I've found many people smell something but don't know what it is. How much steam from the shower? How big is the bathroom? Window you can open at all? Exhaust fan? Are there already suspicions? How strong is the person's (people's) sense of smell you're trying to hide it from? How long are you running the shower? How far into that period are you vaping? How soon are they sniffing the bathroom after you "shower"?

You may as well be asking, "If a rat farts in my trashcan, will the trash man still take the trash?"

If you have to be this worried about "incriminating" yourself, there's probably a shitload of questions you should be asking before you get to, "Are you positive nothing is needed to conceal the smell of a vaporizer in a hot shower?" - whether that's because you're hiding it from your parents, the RA in your dorm, hotel staff, your significant other, your kids, your roommate whose stash you're pinching, the dog or are just so paranoid that you're afraid the cops are going to pop up in your bathroom at the wrong time!

Quick answer... don't think anyone can be positive about someone smelling your vapor in a hot shower, but I (and suspect most here) don't need to even worry about it - no less be positive. Or for that matter, even be worried about whether someone can smell it while I'm getting vaped silly sitting on the sofa!

So can we get back to the solo discussion and trying to figure out just what OF is doing with his other hand?

OK, I finished the battery testing, now I'm back to typing with both hands.......

This new battery tracks with all the rest. Full charge (to solid light) gave 2 'top open step 7' sessions on the top LED. Then one each on 6, 5, 4 and so on. The ninth such test session started with no LEDs showing but was otherwise normal. I've done this test on several batteries and several Solos. Including swapping parts (the luxury of having more than one available). I think it's a pretty valid test. A well charged battery in good shape should do at least 7 such sessions IMO.

If yours will only do 5 or 6 you're on borrowed time. It'll go downhill fast from there most likely. Have a plan.

As long as we're on Solo charging and other issues, here's an observation I've been sitting on for a bit lest I set off a rash of 'charger envy'. I've said a couple times before that Solo doesn't use all of the 1000mA the charger can supply, more typically about 800. There seems to be quite a spread, actually. And it's largely related to the Solo, not the battery or charger. The highest (fastest charging) one I have here is about 820mA (it varies with voltage some), the lowest about 640 or 650 under the same conditions (charging from my test rig at about step 4). This means some will recharge in 90 minutes while others take two hours for the same recharge. It may be just normal variations or a shift in programing (design change)?

In other charger news, my 'watch the top LED come on and stop the charge automatically' kluge is running well. I should probably take some photos of it, it's fun and IMO useful but not all that practical yet. There's also another approach I plan to try. Normally the charge controller runs at maximum (for that unit) current until it gets close to the full voltage at which point the current is tapered off. It drops to 100mA or so before the light goes solid ending the charge. This is basically from the time the top LED comes on forward (when we'd like to stop). I'm thinking there's a compromise value, say 350mA, that can be used to terminate early without the trouble of trying to look for the light from the top LED. A small box, like Pipes AIO PA between the charger and Solo should do it. Another Solo project to look forward to. Cool.

Solo is a neat little vape, even before we geeks (should that be 'us geeks'?) get to playing around. No home is complete without one.

And a spare.

Regards to all, my kluge just beeped at me, the Solo is ready again.......science calls.

Im still experimenting with my solo. Heat up time is amazing, less than a min to 4.
Loaded some Green Love Potion straight(whole nugs) Started at 3 then 4 Tasted great. Then i tried a new load at 7 and had 3 draws OMG that hit hard. taste was instantly gone but great if your in a hurry. I can hit this no problem on higher temps without water tool. In short the SOLO is now my number one.

So, I guess my 13-month old Solo is now a desktop unit until I can swap out the battery. It's been a very rapid decline. From holding a charge normally, to not holding a charge very well, to not charging at all only took a few weeks.

As of today, when I plug my charger into my Solo, the following happens, in this order:

1. idle light flashes blue once
2. 7 flashes yellow once and unit beeps once (at the same time)
3. charge light flashes red once and idle light flashes blue once (at the same time)
4. repeat 1-3

I've tried a soft reset (plug charger into wall, insert charger into Solo, hold both buttons down for 4 secs, wait 10 secs, unplug charger from Solo), but no joy.

Any other suggestions?

Of course, the Solo continues to work fine via the stock power adapter.

Thanks!

Try grinding, packing loose, and then you'll know what "hitting hard" really means with the SOLO!

I'd like to offer my :2c: as i've been trying to hack the solo's firmware for a while... some of it is normal variations i'm sure, but there is no question all sorts of details that fine are constantly tweaked by Arizer.

I know enough to say that it wouldn't be appropriate to release a "hacked" solo firmware, if one were to reverse engineer it, that could be written to any solo. I'd think you'd have to go by PCB revision. It just goes to show that, for what it's worth, a lot of intentional design changes have taken place. Arizer no question does a lot of tweaking.

Also this is the first i've heard of such a soft reset. What does it usually fix?

I don't believe the battery is included in the 2 year warranty period. I seem to remember it being 6 months or maybe a year? I hope I'm wrong though!

*edit- just checked the Arizer site: "The Arizer Solo vaporizer features a two year manufacturer’s warranty, restricted to normal use. Due to quality craftsmanship, the Solo’s Heating Element is backed by a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty and the lithium battery is covered by a one year warranty."

I saw the soft reset technique via a troubleshooting letter from Arizer to a customer (posted on Reddit a while ago). I'm not actually sure what it fixes, but I thought I'd give it a go anyway.

Sorry to get your hopes up, although when I had a battery go bad just past the one year mark they took care of me anyway.

Thanks about the soft reset, i'll see what it fixes.

Interesting. I'm pretty confident charge current is set in hardware, not software. The actual charge currents seem pretty random (that is the don't seem related to age). I've poked around some and sure didn't notice any evidence of this 'constant tweaking' that "there is no question at all" about. In fact, quite the opposite? Parts interchange well. Performance is quite similar. I see no concrete differences.

Can you please give me a couple of examples of this obvious evidence of constant tweaking I seem to have missed completely?

TIA
