The Lotus Vaporizer

When will the V4 caps be out, approximately? I know that it's been said that they're waiting on another manufacturer, but is there an ETA? I have a nano now and love it. I've been using blunts/joints at outdoor events, but the vape has really made me realize how bad smoke tastes. I want to pick up a lotus as my next acquisition, but I'm wondering if I should wait on the new version?

Your glass is always so clean...
Well I've settled in on my two favorite set ups.

Dry:

And bring in the f-BOMB for wet:

Although the J hook works fine, makes the profile too big for my liking.

P1060980_zps2445a90f.jpg

The original stand for the 14mm joint was too un-steady for me so I made a DIY one more suited for the task.

Even added a 14mm male to store the 90 degree elbow while using the f-BOMB. It also adds stability for holding it in hand.

This is one fun vape for sure....

(Don't know if anyone has tried that leather pouch MT now sells to carry the cap while hot - any owners want to comment?). Yes the Lotus works everywhere, but it isn't the most discrete vape on the market.....

I don't know about you guys buy I have torched two bowls in a row and let the lotus air out for less than a minute before I thought it was cool enough to put in my pocket.

I didn't buy the leather pouch because I was very cheap. Just got the WPA and the pipe kit by itself. I have another container that fits the Lotus fine so it's alright.

Stealth/discreteness is always a funny thing when it gets brought up. I see people trying to walk around in public hitting a tiny little wax pen or dry herb pen or anything. IMO those are the sketchiest god damn things and a hundred times more conspicuous than if I take my Lotus, pick somewhere to sit for a second while I torch up and keep moving.

I dunno. It's just the part of me that used to combust in public (bowls and joints all day) when it was even more frowned upon than it is now, and I'm used to staying discrete while having burning weed on my person, so compared to that most vapes are very stealth.

@Pipes I find hitting the Lotus dry thru a pipe of that shape is a lot of fun, too. Gives you a nice air vortex to make hitting it a charm.

I clean my stuff a lot.
Even my SOLO stems are sparkling clean. I don't save the resin build up or ABV because I can't handle the taste otherwise I'd save it and clean less. I love your set ups and you gave me some Ideals. During the day I have vaporizers I use that help me to manage however for a full nights sleep the LOTUS has been a very effective device. Took me time to learn how to use it however It's like plug and play now!

Just to be clear, I'm not saying it can't work, just that it would be a major hassle for me anyway, with a torch flame hard to see and direct in the daylight. The Lotus likes you hitting that sweet spot just right and for the right amount of time. I prefer other options for those scenarios, such as the Solo in a reusable starbucks cup, an mflb or a vapor genie. But thats just my experience.
I agree with a lot of what your saying.
However my take on it is this:
The SOLO is awesome and I love the way it's so easy to use and very portable for me. The LOTUS is a special! It's pretty powerful. Before bed a 2x bowl's full and it's nite nite!
I have other devices for max flavor.
I had to get rid of 3 different vaporizer with the LOTUS. It serves a purpose.
I agree with you on portability! I take a concentrate device. Few rips 1000x stronger than flower.
Shatter for travel!
LOTUS before bed!

BLACK WATER in a LOTUS!

That is basically how I feel. A wax pen is the only thing I could consider discrete in that manner.

Today i woke up and did 6 bowls in a row out of the Lotus. It was a lot of fun how I felt pretty surprisingly stoned, but then proceeded to get more and more stoned over the next couple hours.

Most of the time if I go somewhere I'm with my car and the lotus can be used as much as one likes behind 5 tint

I think that the lotus is quite a deal more discrete than many think, if you can just find an out of sight spot you only need 15 seconds per hit really. And at festivals/concerts you just blend in with all the pipe smokers!

I think @GrilledGoat is just referring to the "suspicious look time" which 15 seconds is pretty quick.

Really digging this DIY configured pipe setup. Thinking another project may be in the works...?

What do you guys think? Would making a stand like this have any interest from the masses?

P1060987_zps89962282.jpg

Acrylic (plastic), but great for this task as out of the way of high heat and vapor path. Granted some air passes over the blocking port and opinions on this are welcome.
Since I already made a master and have made a couple copies so making more is not hard at all. However, need to know if you folks think this has a place in the mix?
Posting here in the Lotus thread as seems the best fit for practical use. I have also being using it with a 14mm nail as well. The only other must have would be a 14mm "Y" adapter. The rest is up the imagination.

Yes I'm talking about the "sketchy period" of raising the Lotus, readying the lighter, warming the cap, hitting, and putting away.

Edit: I would love to have one of those stands

@Pipes how much did that little dry rig come out to total?

Edit2: Not just for dry, One of the main reasons I got this was to be able to use my water tubes as well. Can through the J hook on as well but not really for me.

I found the holder too tipsy. So made my own to suit the needs.

Edit: added link to above picture.

Edit2: Not just for dry. A main reason I when this route was I wanted to be able to use my water tubes I already have. Can still use the J hook with it but I really don't care for it (too long). And the other reason was if using a J hook by itself, you really have to be careful setting it down. Makes me too nervous.

Hey everyone this is my first post to this thread. I just received my j hook kit from MT and I was wondering if anyone had some beginners tips for me. I have also been looking into getting either a tabletop bubbler or an ash catcher attachment to go with my j hook. Has anyone had success with either of these water cooling options? I've seen a few different pictures of some of your setups and i would love to put together one of my own. Thanks for all your help and I can't wait to try my LOTUS out for the first time!

Welcome!

Check out the cheap high quality bubblers thread in the glass section - we have a bunch of cheap glass under $50 that will knock your socks off.

I suggest you find a nice in-line ash-catcher and connect that to your J-hook.

I have a few pieces I got from the cheap class thread (D020, D020-t, and ash catcher) and a straight bong I have had for years and they are all effective and entertaining with the Lotus, especially with an adapter here and there. My current favorite is the Ash Catcher ($18 delivered) that I put on my J-Hook. It gives the best view of the Lotus and the glass which helps with managing the vaping. I seem to always use water when I am hitting at home for smoothness and cooling.
I think you will love your Lotus. We pretty much all do... ;)

When ordering glass keep joint sizes and type in mind. Many of the cheap glass pieces tend to have male joints for nails and concentrate use. The Lotus needs a 14MM female. Most of the female joints we see are 18MM, so you will need a 18 to 14mm reducer. Lots of adapters available on ebay and now on DGate and AE.

Is this normal?
I was wondering if this is normal for the new (or older) hot plates.
The first picture is brand new never torched.
The second picture is after a couple weeks of daily use.
Notice the center now has a fair size dimple. Actually a dimple inside a dimple.
Just thought it kind of odd and curious.

Mine looks like a GHETTO Machine.
I scorched the lid so many times .
I even burned the wood.
I'm so glad it has a stainless steel bowl. The uglier the better.
I'll take a photo and show you what I mean.

I think/hope so. ;) My Lotus has had the new plate on it for a couple weeks now and that dimple already shows prominently.
