Gear Best Clearo for Pure Gold?

Thx for the reply...

Decarbed half a gram of shatter, added .25ml of d-limonene and for now I am a happy camper :-) my mPT3 with bdc (without wiskers) and this mixture is a fog machine...

Great! What exactly did you do to decarb your shatter? What is "bdc"?

If you melt your shatter down, what texture is it after it cools? Solid? Viscous liquid?

At ~33% d-limonene as you mixed (0.5 + 0.25), how are the scent and taste? IMHO EJMix is no more than tolerable, a bit more bleh than Propylene Glycol. Why specifically did you select d-limonene, and why that specific amount?

Thanks

The question was not directed at me, but d-limonene is a terpene found in cannabis. There is iffy research saying that it either potentiates the effects of cannabinoids, or somehow allows cannabinoids to have therapeutic effect. Bad Katt swears by it and puts it in her coco-canna capsules.

Read some people mentioning a 1ml to 1g ratio for adding d-limonene.

Why d-limonene, because it is one of the terps that by nature is in our beloved plant and it is a solvent dissolving BHO really well.

Decarb my oil by putting it in the oven for about 30min at 120C. It becomes more of a liquid after this, still not runny but melty... still very thick.

Bdc stand for bottom dual coil, meaning they have two coils stacked in the atomizer. For me personally, the bdc has changed my experience with e-liquid a lot in a positive sense, and hope they will do the same with this. And if you do get them make sure you get the updated coils, the old ones with wick suck!

Taste is like orangy, what was to be expected. But seeing I start of with winterized oil, for me it adds a nice flavor to an otherwise 'generic oil' flavor. I prefer the first.

They only had one bottle of PEG-400 and it was passed date, so I did not get it. still will try and find it somewhere because i do like the idea of being able to mix my oil with my normal e-liquid. With d-limonene this does not work, the oily mixture will not stay in solution with either PG or VG, or any blend of them.

I did lost quite a bit with doing it this quickly, meaning I did not have the right syringe for getting it into the cart...bit stupid but lesson learned. For now I am out of oil but will keep an eye on this thread to see what else people come up with.

I have a feeling decarbing it slightly more might help...but someone will have to experiment with that...

Yes, I have the dual coils on the mPT3, great
for e-liquid, not so much for oils.

I mix and chain vape my 90+% VG e-liquids.
But never VG and oils shall meet.

Limonene might be a great flavoring and thinner.
At 33% is the taste nice or over the top?

How does winterizing make your oil less flavorful?

"I have a feeling decarbing it slightly more might help..."
-- help what?

What kind of store did you get the d-limonene at?

W/ simple compounds like glycols I wouldn't stress
over expiration dates too much. Not like antibiotics.

Winterizing puls some of the terpines out.

Decarbing further releases some terps responsible for flavour.

I do not know if it is 33%...ml do not translate 1/1 to grams ;-) I did not measure my bho in ml so the exact ratio by weight and or volume I do not know.

The flavor is definitely not that of the oil. This however can have it pros too because it makes it stealthy...if the flavor is too much, for me personally, no. But taste is a subjective thing...Still will try even less d-limonene next time around...

Pure Gold tastes and smells nothing like cannabis. Their Pure Gold Plus is even stranger. That's ultimate stealth.

But as a flower guy (because it's most medicinal, most strain-specific) I started on a separate carto with all the terpenes and flavonoids and yadda yadda in a dark oil, and that's why I'm so happy with that mPT2 with intact unthinned oil. It tastes and acts like the flower.

Cool...might give it a try straight up soon...seeing I will be spending most of my time in Portugal coming weeks were it is 40C during the day, I think I might get away with it lol

Hi guys,
I found a e-cig retailer while looking for a cone cover for my "bud" atty, and to my surprise not only he sent me the one I bought, but he sent his remaining stock because according to him they are being discontinued. I also asked him about the new type 4, pro tank , which uses solid ceramic wicks and he said he will keep me posted.
It seems like his business is a small one if you compare it to others out there, but he carries what we are looking for with the exception of the "bud" atty, but that's because it is a Gotvapes exclusive, but he carries the mPT3 at a very good price, he ships the same day with tracking, cheaper than others, and the customer service is top notch, he answers e-mails almost immediately.
This guy is getting my business from now on.
Here is the link if anybody is interested.

And for the mPT3.

Thank you guys for all the great info in this thread, specially to @fernand and @Haywood

I've done business with Mike for literally, what, 3-4 years? He's very honest and responsive. He has genuine Joyetech parts, like atomizers and batteries.

@tepictoton didn't Portugal legalize?

I think "the heat" he's trying to beat in Portugal is errr... different than "the heat" folks vaping in the streets of Chicago are dealing with. 40C? Ouch.

Total newbie to both e-cigs and concentrates here... sorry if I'm re-treading anything.

Fernand: From what I gather, the Protank 2 Mini works well with non-dilluted PG? I have a brand new, completely unmodified mPT2 with just an eGo c-twist - do you think this would work? If so, what voltage would you recommend? (mine came with two 2.2 ohm coils). I know the instruction manual has a little chart, but I wasn't sure if that is only applicable to e-juice or not.

Also, to anyone: Sorta off-topic. Like I said, I'm new to concentrates as well... I'm just curious how strong this stuff is. I only vape about 3 times per week, so I don't have a super high tolerance and I mainly just stick with flowers (albeit 20% + THC). Will I really need to watch myself with PG?

@GaryMooncock, naw, it's not THAT strong. It smells totally non-cannabinoid, that's a big plus. It's very viscous, but it turns thinner with temperature better than some thick oils.

With the really thick oils there's a point of diminishing returns, if you're not getting enough flow, you may as well add a few drops of EJMix, it's a blend of glycols that thins oils very well. Who was that woman who was using Propylene Glycol alone and it separated, but she was saying how generally oils taste better if thinned. She's got a point. There's a fine line there, some need it, some are like PureGold and feed fast enough so the taste is good.

So, yes, PureGold works fine as is in a mPT2. Just be kind, don't rush it, remember you want the stuff to get as warm around the base as possible to feed, block the air holes on the base with your fingers to leverage more suction. It's like a skill. On an eGo twist I run it all the way down, 3.3v, with a 2.2 ohm coil. Simmer the gold! Once you burn it, you know, that head it never tastes the same again. Onward to success!

Has anyone tried rebuilding the sapphire cartos? Seems to me that by simply swapping out the wick we would be able to have a much nicer flavor profile. They do appear glued together though so maybe tougher than it seems

Good thing I have 4 more mPT2s coming from Arizona at seven bucks ea, with 20 of the 2.5 ohm heads. Grand total fifty two bucks shipped. That's acceptable.

My new unthinned Sour Diesel oil mPT2 is vaping OK, but it's lacking the right terpene profile or whatever it is that makes SD so perfect 4 me. It feels more like a silly sativa, the confusing slices are dominant. Maybe just a bad strain, a bad grow, badly aged, badly extracted, who knows. It said Sour Diesel oil, 68% THC, $15. The last two seem accurate ;-)

If I hadn't ordered those extras ProTanks, I'd be warming-or-thinning what I could outta there to save it, before rinsing the mPT2 with grain alcohol and starting the build all over with a new head and a different erl. With a bigger cheap ProTank inventory I can just set this whole apparatus aside, locked and loaded, for - I'm not sure.

@tepictoton is using Lemonene, that's a whole different approach I'd love to hear more about. I've only used glycols, and EJMix rules in that world.

When loading a bottom-feeding tank like the mPT2 with PureGold or unthinned oil, pre-wetting the wick (with EJMix) is essential. And if the feed ever gets slow, if it ever hints at burning, two techniques are important to help it feed:

1) As per previouslously: Warm the head by pulsing the button, block the airholes of the ProTank as it sits mounted on the eGo type battery, and suck. It pulls some more erl into the reaction chamber. Not too much. You want all the session remainder to solidify and block the 510 connector's air-hole. It's good then you kinda pop it as you start the session. That rather guarantees zero leaks.

2) On a fixed voltage eGo battery, 2.5 ohms is good, as @Haywood said, ages ago. With a little luck you won't run it dry and burn it. But with unthinned erl, it's always a delicate balance. If in doubt, drip a little EJMix down the driptube, try two drops, give it a moment, pulse a little. This way you can weak the erl's thickness as needed, right there on the wick, without committing to a dilution of the whole batch.

If you do decide this oil is just too dense and going to have to be thinned, you can open the tank TOP and add a little EJMix. The fact that only the pit contains oil means the threaded base isn't immersed. You can tape the whole bottom assembly to the glass tube so it doesn't come apart, take off the drip tip, then unscrew the top, taking the threaded airtube with it. Then add EJMix or a pre-mixed blend along the glass tube sides, then screw everything back together.

I like the Kanger single coils better all around. I've even been using mPT3 bodies with mPT2 single coil heads by adding silicone caps from old heads as washers or spacers. Works great.

After it all flows down, you can fit almost a g of erl down on the deck, in the pit, invisible. The dialogue "They're my e-cig cartridges. This one's Vanilla, this one's Strawberry, this one .. it's empty ..."

I don't think the Sapphires are rebuildable or worth a lot of attention. They do an acceptable job with EJMix-thinned stuff if you burp and coddle 'em, end o' story. One positive side is the transparency.

@fernand you use the mPT2 coils in mPT3 and they have been working ok with no leaks?? Can you post a link to tell coils you use and a pic of your silicon cap washer setup.

Saphires are not rebuildable true. But I use mine daily and I never burp or coddle them. Have not had a leak in over a year of using them and have easily gone through 10g of undiluted Pure Gold through just one of the sapphire carts. For $2 a pop I can't find a reason not to like them.

OTOH 3 mPT2's leaked on me and cost me over .5g of ej-mixed winterized oil between them.

YMMV.

@MaxVapor, we're all explorin' and there's always the devil in the details. The Sapphires do work fine. If I don't burp 'em, I do get a burned taste on say the second or third hit. If I burp 'em they're damned good. Maybe some have better wicks? I got mine off e-bay, maybe they're not the latest design. But I got the same effect with prefilled O-Pen-Vape carts before I started rolling my own. Never tried PGd in one. Where are you getting the ones you are so happy with?

mPT2 never leaks? Of course that would be unlikely. Never say never. I broke my own rule and stored this mPT2 vertically in hot weather. Gak! There's no escaping physics. Hot air expands in the tank, pushes the warmed thinner erl down the 510 pipe. If it's EJM-thinned, it's gonna do it more easily. Fortunately I caught this one early. No more standup comedy for you, mr Protank!

IMG_6858xL_zps6518a35b.jpg

@arrr here's the setup, an mPT3 body with an mPT2 coil. It's never leaked so far, and I use much thinner glycerin-nicotine liquids in it. The washer doesn't have to make a perfect seal, you'll see what I mean when you try it. The head is a regular Kangertech single coil unit, as shown. The "washer" cap as I recall came from a dual coil head. The single coils have a smaller entry port right down on the deck, so they feed down to the last drop. The duals also go through liquid like crazy with IMHO no clear benefit.

Just wanted to provide an update. I've been using the following for 1 month now and here are my results.

Dispensery purchased shatter, not winterized, mixed with EJMIX in a 1:2 ratio. 1/2 ML EJMIX for every 1 GRAM of SHATTER.

I heated the EJMIX and added the gram and it melted in double boiler and mixed perfectly. I used a blunt tip syringe to suck it up and put it in vials or in the tank.

I have been using and keeping the following units filled.

Kanger Protank 3 MINI
Kanger Aero MINI
Kanger Protank 2

I discontinued using Protank 2 due to lots of leakage from the bottom on to the battery several times.

So far no leaks with the Aero MINI and Protank 3 MINI. I have tried both the 1.8 OHM dual coils and the 1.5 OHM dual coils. I much prefer the 1.5OHM dual coil atomizer. Bigger clouds and it just seems to hit better with quick presses.

My method is to only depress the button for less than a second about 5 times while drawing. I get huge vapor clouds this way and it keeps the atomizer from overheating. In my opinion running these things too hard is what causes leaks etc.

@fernand, I got my sapphires from gotvapes.com. They have a blue plug under the mouthpiece to seal the loading hole but I don't know if that is distinct to these carts. I am only on my third one and they have all worked great for a long time. The draw is restrictive but personally I don't mind that. The taste also may not be the best, but it gets the job done as they say.

Thanks for all your great input! Also in the FF thread.

@MaxVapor they all got blue plugs (that get lost in the rug) by now. My issue is exactly the taste. But if I burp 'Em they can taste great.

The single coil 2.5 ohm heads in a mPT3 body work ok for VG e-juice, but easily turn kinda gurgly unless you apply some serious lectricity, like 4.8 v. Huge clouds, setting off foghorns and fire alarms. My wife nearly vanished for good and can't forgive me for not noticing, because it suggests I don't love her.

That "Sour Diesel" dark oil I got is some kind of brain damage chimpanzee voodoo Sativa. Two tokes and you're useless and miserable. Three tokes and you promise God you'll never ever do anything like this again. Know what i'm sayin'? I'm looking to dispose of the whole remaining gram, along with its Protank, in a certified waste dump - to avoid devastating the downstream wildlife.

This is the second worst cannabis i ever tried. The worst was the cement-truck cowpattie immobilizer weed that some evil hippies sold to my friend from Japan for $100. I knew a guy decades ago who was into Romilar. He'd chew these king sized Cough lozenges containing sub-lethal veterinary amounts of Dextromethorphan and then abruptly just stop moving. Same general "idea".
