Arizer Solo

If you'd prefer a European seller, you might consider Vapefiend.

No one knows when Arizer will release a new line IMO except Arizer. They play their cards pretty close to the vest, so I would be very suspicious of internet rumors. I read somewhere that internet rumors aren't always true..... can't remember where, though. :disgust:

:peace:

I am actually using vapefiend :) It's sorted then, I'm ordering 2 solos. Really hope nothing goes wrong. At least having 2 around if one were to fuck up we'd be able to check if it's the charger or not.

A stuck (or "frozen" or "seized") glass joint is a common problem when working with standard ground glass joints.

Caution: the following are suggestions only and can not apply to every situation. Trying to free stuck glass joints can result in serious injury if the glass breaks in the process. Consider wearing lightweight leather gloves and wrap the glass in a heavy towel to lower the potential for serious cuts.

(1) Gently try rocking the GonG from side to side. Remember, this is an easy way to cut your thumb, especially if you are not wearing leather gloves. Some people have luck putting solvent, such as ISO, on the outside of the joint and trying to work it down into the joint as the stopper is rocked.

(2) Try soaking the joint overnight in a bath (again, using ISO Alcohol, for example). Some people swear that an overnight soak in Coca-Cola works quite well.

(3) Try using a wooden pencil to tap around the outside of the Gong. Don't use anything metal as that could crack the glass. Sometimes the tapping will break the seal.

(4) Heat the joint around the OUTSIDE of the GonG briefly with a heat gun and then try to remove the GonG with rocking. The keyword here is "briefly". What you want to do is heat the glass around the outside of the joint so that it expands without heating the glass GONG. Heating the entire joint will just result in the bubbler glass and GonG glass expanding at the same time and the seal won't break.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the advice all! Soda water overnight didn't work, and keeping it in the freezer didn't either. Fortunately ISO worked like a charm, a minute or so of fondling and it came right out. I'm lubricating the whole end with chapstick.

I'm hoping no one else has to go through this scare... Phew!

On a side note, would it be safe to reuse the dried screens which have been soaked in ISO? if not, what would be the best way to remove them?

Once again, my lungs thank thee. :D

My screens are stainless steel and I reuse them a few times after cleaning them in ISO and then rinsing in water. However, screens are so cheap that I typically use them for just a couple of weeks and then toss them.

Regarding screens, here's a little helpful info.

A lot of people, me included, like to use screens in their glass but sometimes have a problem getting the right size, molding them to the right shape, etc. So I thought I would explain how to make the perfect domed screen for your Solo glass, and make it perfectly every time!

I buy all my screens in bulk, usually a 100 at a time from that well-known auction site. You can get 100 1/2-inch stainless-steel screens for just a few bucks.

What you'll need is a small piece of hard rubber, a selection of sockets from your toolset, and a good hammer. For the rubber piece, you might be able to get away with using a large stopper or something similar.

Testing your tool sockets, try to find one that fits inside the bowl of your Solo stem or gong. You want it to have some "play" room but you don't need a lot. I found that my Sears Craftsman 1/4-inch socket works perfectly for me.

Laying the rubber on a hard surface, place your 1/2-inch screen in the center.

jEvEMeD.jpg

Take your socket and place it on the screen, being careful to make sure the socket is centered. You should have an equal width of screen showing all around the base of the socket.

Now take your hammer and give the top of the socket a sharp blow. It might take a few times until you get it right, but what you'll end up with is a screen with a small, raised lip around the edge, making it fit perfectly in the Solo stem or gong.

In addition, you'll note the stamped screen has a small dome in the center. This results in the screen sitting above the holes in the stem / gong, ensuring great, even airflow.

Vape on, fellow purists!

I just purchased my Solo about 2 to 3 months ago. Purchased a switchable power supply with the same specs as in your quote only it goes from 9 to 12 volts. When i leave it on the 12 v setting it will power my Solo and charge it at the same time. No problems with maintaining the charge, I just wish i used it more. But i picked up the Extreme Q 2 or 3 yrs ago,so it gets more use than the Solo. Just can't beat the flavor of the Q in my opinion.

Edit: after going home from work noticed my Adapter was rated at 1300mA and not 1000mA.

So i've been experimenting more with my new found portable summer love affair and have started using whole nugs and I can't believe how well it works. I can cram lotsa teeny little bits of bud all the way up to the rim and get great clouds and flavour. I also find that it's much less harsh on my lungs and I cough much less, not at all if I keep the temp under 4.

I am also starting to use temps 3 and 4 for flavour and even clouds, and then ramp up to 6 to finish off and brown the load. The airflow is incredible with this! I've also been finding the battery lasts alot longer than i've expected it to.

I love my Solo!

joined the solo crowd through mass drop! second vape can't wait to get it. Is there anything i need to know about the solo? Im going to slowly go through some of this thread but 1142 pages is a lot to read! Was already told by stickstones to check out eds wooden stems for when i take the solo snowboarding.

Caulin, Welcome to the fun. Reading over the last 20 pages and skipping over the stuff that's repeated would be a good start.
Also read over the beginning where it talks about the features.

Recently there has been an upgrade, it has better airflow and battery life now. You may decide you want a bubbler. Go to the cheap glass thread. IMO don't buy expensive $100+ glass pieces. Glass water tools get broken too easily.

I think you've made a wise investment. You won't be sorry.

thanks carol. I have been wanting to pull the trigger. I currently have an iolite and hate it! Ill be sitting here for a few weeks waiting for mass drop to finally get it to my house... let the nail bitting begin! Also, i know all this is basically personal preference, however, do most people prefer a 14mm stem for vapes because they are easier to upsize to 18mm if needed with an adapter? sorry I'm new to water tools.

You will receive 2 glass mouthpieces with your Solo. If you buy a water tool you would need either a 14mm gong or 18mm depending on the water tool you get. You could also buy a wood Wong from Ed.
Planetvape has the Solo Gong but most of the time they've been sold out. You have to just keep checking a few times a day.

I personally don't have the patience to wait for massdrop. I want everything right away.

I know, ridiculous really. Been waiting so long for Vapefiend to get some back in stock the UK that I'm looking to get some made locally from stock straight stems.

However my makeshift 18mm gong is as follows...

Ingredients :science::
1 x 14mm >18mm adapter.
1 x straight solo stem (cut to desired length and flame polished to avoid cuts).
1 x small length (if you could call it that) of silicon tubing.

Pop it all together.

Works a treat

FCer VapedAndConfused has started a new business called JoDa glass. It's customized glass pieces. He may be able to get some that would be similar to a turbo gong for the Solo.
Go to General Vaporizing Discussions then go to Glass.

Grey Area, You're in good company. Plenty of McGyvors in these here parts.:spliff:

For sure there is less restriction in the airflow now, but I'm not sure everyone will see it as better. Most, I suspect will favor it, but same as not everyone loves Turbo PVHES stems there will be personal opinions in play here I think.

I checked pretty carefully and could find no evidence of more battery life in terms of sessions per charge (for practical purposes, the same in fact). And I'm pretty sure that the battery life (in terms of how soon you'll have to replace it) will be shorter compared with the old style using a PA.

I think we can promise new owners less restricted flow ('better' being their call) but should not lead them to believe battery life is improved. If anything it's going to be lower in some cases, and no different in others.

Not to worry, both models are excellent vapes of course. An owner of either is well served, but still should have a backup vape.......

OF, I noticed when I bought my newer model Solo I was able to get 2 hours in the beginning of battery life. I don't remember getting as long of battery life in the beginning with my older model Solo. I could be wrong. My memory at times isn't the sharpest. After a couple of months time it's not as long. Mine is 2 months old, it gets about 72 min maybe a little longer.

Thanks OF, for all your help. I don't want to give misleading advise.

EDIT: I didn't mean the battery age wise would last longer. Charging and using all the time would be hard on a battery. We've talked a lot about that on this thread.

Yup, I get that for sure. Not only does that bring long term memory (not always a strong suit) into the game, but it leaves the user technique (a very large factor in battery drain).

To eliminate such factors I used my 'step 7, no stem, back to back sessions' to remove the human factor and swapped batteries back and forth to remove the age (they degrade in use) and differences between individual batteries as a factor. Basically the same battery delivered the same test sessions in either version (as the rules of physics would call for).

I agree, reliable information to help folks make informed choices is the proper goal here........'keeping it real' as the saying goes?

In the end, it's probably not a big deal since the customer get's little choice. Personally I was very happy to find out Randy's used unit sale was for the older models.......my preference at present. But no matter which version a owner gets today he/she can expect great service. The rest is details.

Thanks.

I'm a former cigarette smoker and I've always loved the taste of tobacco mixed with bud. I only use my own personal brand of tobacco that has been grown for me, no shit from a cigarette. I've been looking around, but I've yet to see an answer about this.

No, this does not mean I've gone back to smoking anything.

Have any of you coughed when inhaling deeply? I feel like I shouldn't be coughing from vapor, but I've also been sicker, so I might just been coughing.

I haven't been around in a while, so hello again everyone.

Ground herb makes me cough like crazy and irritates the shit out of my lungs, especially dry, and especially at higher temps. Water filtration helps, but the temperature is the biggest factor for me personally, and I much prefer whole nugs for smoother tastier hits. Hope it helps

Interesting issue. It's the taste? While custom grown is no doubt exactly what you want, you can get dozens and dozens of 'juice' with no nicotine. Plenty safe to vape in most circles. I'm thinking maybe thin some out with ISO and spray the bud? Haven't thought it through of course, and not being personally interested I'll leave trying it to others?

Coughing, I think, is the result of irritation, therefore a big variable? I can say that not smoking in a while makes it easier to vape the big ones......

Good luck with it.

I have two pieces on the way from him for my Solo. My wallet can not handle all teh money i'm spending on vaporizing toys lately.

Speaking of which I got my @Pipes AIO package today. 2 sparkly stands (looks like a hydrafoot style for a 14mm and a 18mm inverse of a hydrafoot, if i'm not mistaken?), a Solo stand with rainbow lighting (amazing), and all the other goodies he usually sends out. I had been thinking about getting just a Car PA for a long time but I'm pretty glad I sprung for everything.

Now I just need to figure out what i'm going to do with my damn M107's top cap to keep it in place!

My desk is a mess but the Pipes stand is a lot of fun and considerably nicer than letting it sit on its side. Now i want another stand for my other Solo :)

I was just wondering what the temperature is best for vaporizing tobacco using the Airzer. I'm still trying to decide what my sweet spot is for my medicine.

While I'm not sure, I suggest extreme caution vaping Nicotine. Several times now I've watched guys try a puff or two with scary results. I've never seen anyone take more than two tries, and then only when the first was pretty lame.
