Well...they do seem to have time to come here and ask for more money, but giving any answers to the questions being asked...you'll see it when...euh when it is made and in your hands...

I was ready to still put in my support, but not recieving even one answer to any of the questions being asked...why should I?

Lotolabs, again can only hope you pull it off, but the way this is being done is all but transparent. And hope you understand my scepticism...I mean you are promising a lot here without backing it up in any way...so please prove me wrong...

It's not BlueTooth we should fear but what the Evoke concept is meant to do with it:


As far as i'm concerned if that's aiming at an offer which is equivalent to a "locked" wireless phone then this whole thing can plain rot then die and the sooner the better!!

But i could be wrong and that's just me in any case.

We can still try to speculate. For example i can safely bet no "proprietary" alloy was invented over night... Which could mean the Evoke team has identified a proper alloy, hopefully a Curie alloy such as one of those listed below:

190 °C (374 °F) Curie point

Alloy SV287-5
198 °C
(388 °F) Curie point​


Which i suppose would be close enough in a conductive/radiative IH bullet/crucible application.

Like this crazy suggestion of a unit using 2~3 3.7 Volts batteries so it can actually survive having one gone dead, provided each battery cell drives 1 corresponding IH coil, separately... Briefly put, some kind of super KISS concept if you will, because after all, it's quite a perfect opportunity to implement such form of magnetic-coupling that's meant to allow each cell to work individually though still in parallel, achieving additive excitation of a Curie-effect crucible, ultimately...

That's what was on my mind when i attempted to get information on the selected batteries, as we certainly don't want them to be series-connected if it can be avoided at all!! Which is the case in 9 Volts units precisely (6 cells). In other words, please make it hard to kill rather than smart as what would be real smart would be if the batteries can start failing one after another and yet the machine would manage to offer a last toke! Etc... M'well, that sort of crazy things, whatever, etc., etc. Etcetera!

Supposedly via the website. The Bluetooth is for connectivity to your phone which will have an app of some sort to give you information as to how long you vape or possibly how many times you reload between charges. This is the impression I got from watching their videos and reading their faqs. It also has a USB port on the rear end to attach to computer, charger. Again, this is all from their Indiegogo and website.

Still, I think a oled screen for temperature settings and battery life would be more use than Bluetooth info sent to my phone. (it even has a picture of the Bluetooth sending info to the phone lol). Everything else sounds great. The look of it is awesome. Its not meant to be a stealth vape (again if going by what's said in video), so if it can get the tech in and keep the awesome wood that I can pamper and throw in a indicator, they could have a pretty good thing goin.

Those stretch goals though. Those are some horrible stretch goals IMO. I can measure my own intake quite easily without Bluetooth telling me I took 72 puffs. Would've been great as a third stretch goal. The water pipe adapter, I could really care less about.

I hope it delivers I guess is a good summary of my statement.

Maybe inductively-coupled charging should be considered an option too after all, with data transfer(s) as an option on top of that, so the potential "DeLuxe" customers get their fair share of day-dreaming too! Because it's nice to be inclusive...

Did you mean how about using the curie effect just to adjust temp or using it along with the Bluetooth somehow? After looking at it, I believe it will be regulated like a vape pen style button, having to rely on duration of heating and draw strength for vapor, but thinking about it, if they are really putting Bluetooth into this device, they could make it so pressing the button only lets the temperature get to a certain point. So the heat would never get above whatever you prefer. In a way controlling it as you mentioned. If that's how you meant it.

I had a better explanation, but after I thought it up, I forgot what it was..
Sorry, I had to revise this 400 times because I forget wtf I'm thinking about every 10 seconds like a damn fish. Extremely annoying. Go army.. anyways lol

This is the only logical explanation I can think of for putting Bluetooth in it ...

Back to the Sublimator so I can forget that I just forgot whatever I just forgot forgetting.

I'd imagine they're using curie effect to achieve the highest heat setting, and they calibrate a linear current scale based on how much power the unit needs to achieve that (most likely 440 or something) temp.

The Curie effect being defined in the alloy itself that's a fixed temperature setting method so it's not actually possible to "adjust" anything this way without physically exchanging alloys, e.g. by swapping IH items. Though i figure fixed thermostatic heating would be good enough once a sweet spot is found.

More precisely, other means will support adjustement while the Curie effect is a permanent characteristic resulting from metal formulation: that's a feature meant to be "adjusted" at the foundry, where alloys are created...

Although it seems desirable to prevent combustion via such fool-proof Curie effect, for example, this may still be an eventual option only as i yet have to read any positive statement from the Evoke team which would confirm this will be among the basic features. So far this Curie effect scenario didn't happen to generate significant echo but it sure sounds compatible nonetheless.

I'm all for wireless charging! They never show the bottom of the unit in mockups, maybe that will be relea$ed down the path? Maybe there's a way to make it work with current powerpads or similar. It makes sense from many standpoints: design, user experience, accessorization, etc. Portables 2.0.

And we'll need those charging pads to be covered in silicone, tyvm.

i think they could pulse the current to the coil and then the Curie temp would be the upper limit - like @Grim Chiclets suggests. so they wouldn't need a sensor the measure the temp, just plot some curves of response based on current-on duration and program that into the temp control algorithm. maybe. i guess.

Hey. There is a mini USB port on the rear end of the device for charging. There is a picture and explanation at the bottom of the page above the picture of it laying upside down and plugged into the computer to charge through is mini USB port of what the Bluetooth and all is for. Not sure if wireless charging is even a possibility with it sitting upside down to charge. Maybe though!

With any vaporizer, I find things like hit counters and bluetooth unlock / communication/capabilities, for whatever reason are obviously never geared solely on improving vapor quality, density, or efficiency. Vapes that bring in completely unnecessary features get a pass in my book as long as your actual vapor production is as good or better than anything on the market. Otherwise, spend less time on extra features, and make sure your vape CRUSHES IT first. So many vapes are like a naturally attractive woman with too much makeup on.

Blue tooth communication with a smartphone(or iMac, or PC) to actually adjust settings, so that you may have a glorious (IMO) design (for a vape) - well that's another thing altogether, isn't it? Form that is definitely pushing function(control of function, at least), the creators seem to be heading in this direction for completely awesome reasons.

They've opened a door. Once they needed one feature to be app controlled...they realized they had many more options and who can fault them for exploring those...pushing this industry forward an inch ... even if its a bust. If you're a person who appreciates design to a level you are willing to accept the trade off of the app, this vape could be for you. If you just want a vape to function and aren't concerned with appearance, take Flight!

There are options for all of us.

Looks like its going to take a while for this thing to materialize.
At least with the grasshopper there were videos of the prototypes working, this is less than that. all they have shown is the theory of induction works. ok. but who thought it didnt?

forget about the app/bluetooth/future features, there is no vape yet. i wish they would worry about that first.

this team can build a crude desktop prototype and an oddly shaped mocked up piece of wood all they want, it doesnt prove they are capable of creating an induction portable.

i cannot donate to that.
This is probably going to take longer than any vaporizer kickstarter before it.
they seem to be further behind from where any have started in the past.

Dude, you have so many vapes! Jeoulous. I've tried 'em all though, so that's good. The only two you're missing are the lotus and herbalizer :D
