A stuck (or "frozen" or "seized") glass joint is a common problem when working with standard ground glass joints.

Caution: the following are suggestions only and can not apply to every situation. Trying to free stuck glass joints can result in serious injury if the glass breaks in the process. Consider wearing lightweight leather gloves and wrap the glass in a heavy towel to lower the potential for serious cuts.

(1) Gently try rocking the GonG from side to side. Remember, this is an easy way to cut your thumb, especially if you are not wearing leather gloves. Some people have luck putting solvent, such as ISO, on the outside of the joint and trying to work it down into the joint as the stopper is rocked.

(2) Try soaking the joint overnight in a bath (again, using ISO Alcohol, for example). Some people swear that an overnight soak in Coca-Cola works quite well.

(3) Try using a wooden pencil to tap around the outside of the Gong. Don't use anything metal as that could crack the glass. Sometimes the tapping will break the seal.

(4) Heat the joint around the OUTSIDE of the GonG briefly with a heat gun and then try to remove the GonG with rocking. The keyword here is "briefly". What you want to do is heat the glass around the outside of the joint so that it expands without heating the glass GONG. Heating the entire joint will just result in the bubbler glass and GonG glass expanding at the same time and the seal won't break.

Hope this helps.

All good ,the best info Ive seen but I do use one other and it worked pretty good and that was freezing it in the fridge. Its what Ive always have done in the past, now I use a cheapie chapstik and put a little on the male end, havent had a stuck joint since.YMMV

Same here. As part of my Sunday cleaning ritual of my glass used the previous week, after the ISO and soap wash / water rinse, I like to coat the frosted portions of all my glass joints with a thin layer of Chapstick. Not only does it help to prevent stuck glass joints, it also helps to create a better seal during use.

I finally got a new Solo (M1Y1) and couldn't be happier with the charge while in-use feature.
There are a couple issues I'm having though.

1) I have an Ed's TNT Wooden Stem I am wanting to use but it won't fit. I remember from my first Solo it needs to be broken in and requires some force initially, but this doesn't seem like it's going to fit at all?
My GonG adapter fits nice, a little loose actually, which brings me to my next question...

2) Having an O-ring on doesn't allow the top to be fully screwed on, it can only be partially screwed on. Does anyone find this true for the newer units?

I believe I have one of the newer model solos, and I do not use an o-ring. I don't find a reason to, and I've been using it since March or so, nightly. My PV GonG is fairly loose, but that's okay, it works just fine without the o-ring. The solo was designed to be like that though, I believe.

I also will not use while charging.

I've just got a f-style bubbler to go along with my GonG. Works perfectly but the GonG is now stuck to the bubbler and won't budge. Can't use it for now as I'm afraid the Solo might get wet, I don't wanna risk breaking it, any advice guys?

In every chemistry lab. course I took, they always made a big deal about never putting 2 ground glass joints together, without some silicone grease or other inert lubricant (need not be much at all, e.g., just wipe it on, anything to give some lubrication), even vegetable oil, or PTFE/Teflon tape. This also provides a better seal.

I've never understood why all the glass experts here and recreational glass users in general all seem to use dry glass-on-glass joints (or have I missed noticing some common practice?)

To unstick the glass, try heating the outer piece, e.g., with a lighter or other flame, and it will presumably expand. Also, some lubricant could only help. Any liquid, even water, that you can get into the stuck joint can only help unstick it.

Hey guys. New here, just wanted to ask if me and my friend should bite the bullet and get a solo each. Everyone seems to think it's a great vape but I have read a lot of cases of the unit failing. It is quite a lot of money for us at the moment and we're in Europe so sending it back to Canada would be costly. More than that I don't want to end up not having it for weeks.
Any advice on how to make sure nothing breaks and what not? Is the failure rate a lot higher for the 2014 models? I really want to get this damn thing I just don't want it to die on me :(
Also I saw someone mention on reddit that Arizer are planning on releasing a new model sometime soon, as in a new line, not the solo. Anyone have any info on that? If that were the case I would wait.

If you'd prefer a European seller, you might consider Vapefiend.

No one knows when Arizer will release a new line IMO except Arizer. They play their cards pretty close to the vest, so I would be very suspicious of internet rumors. I read somewhere that internet rumors aren't always true..... can't remember where, though. :disgust:

:peace:

Please convince me to buy a solo!

I've heard it's more efficient than the flight box because it uses both conduction and convection, and you can set the actual heat amount.

I've also heard you can get much larger hits - not sure if that's completely true.

I had a buddy that mastered the MFLB and I also had one for a few weeks and enjoyed it. I would consider purchasing another but I've just heard so much good about this vape. I was considering purchasing the Indica, but it's had a few bad batches and still has kinks to be worked out. The "Grasshopper" vape sounds amazing if it actually comes out ... I'm just wondering if this vape will make me no longer desire to combust from its efficiency... otherwise, I am considering getting a 1ft ROOR instead. But you guys should convince me otherwise because, lol... I can't afford to be spending tons of $ on herbs

How do you envision your usage? If portability is the most important, the Solo really is a champ. The Solo can allow you to be a connoisseur of lower-temp flavors, then bump it up for clouds and then milk the CBNs at 7.

But if portability isn't important, perhaps a desk unit with more power and heater variability is warranted.

It's such a lovely day. Mr Macbill I think I will join you.
Do you notice when the Solos are upside down, sun shinning on them, they look like they have a smile.
Nice photo!

CloudMage, I don't have the Indica but have been watching, so I personally don't have any experience. I have had the MFLB, too much hassle. You have to keep taking the battery in and out. When I have a vape session I want to be relaxed.

With the Solo, it's very versatile. You can use it on the go or as a desk top. You will be able to use all kinds of glass pieces to go with it.

This unit is very easy on the herb. A little goes a long way. You will save $ just on product.

What I've been doing lately since I have access to waxes now is mixing the wax with the flower, it's very nice.

The Solo you can buy for around $160. If you get one at Puffitup exchanges are no hassle. Shipping back is free.

The Solo is about 3 years old, so it's been on the market a while. It has recently been upgraded where it has a longer battery life and better air flow.

There's a reason this thread is over 1100 pages long, because the Solo is soooo good.

Welcome to the fun!

EDIT: FCLOVE doesn't work any longer at PV. Let them know you are an FC member. They will throw in something for free.

You cant beat the quality and flavor the Solo provides. It kicks my Q's butt so much that the Extreme is boxed up in the closet now.Ease of use, attachment possibilities (which has already been mentioned)and the price of the unit is very reasonable.I paid under $130.00 US.This is jmho but...I don't think anyone can go wrong dancing with this lady.

Mine came today! Having fun playing with it. It is hard to beat if you don't want to be tethered to the grid, but if A/C is nearby think I may choose another vape or two first.

To any shopping and/or gathering info... I got mine for a great price from rubberneck on eBay. All was very professionally packaged and looked brand new. First one I've unboxed, but looks as though all of inner box was packed and sealed at Arizer.

SN series is M1Y1. Heats pretty quickly, isn't as much of a thick milkshake draw as older models I've used and holds heat well (using it "solo"). Charge indicated 5 out of box, charged to full and burnt off a few cycles at 7 before use. Was slight electronic/plasticy scent on first one, none I could smell by 4th. Stem fits nice when warmed up. Think heat runs just a tad cooler than others I've used, but need to do a side by side with same material to be sure. Plus would rather run it through a few battery cycles to see if things shift at all.

Batteries confuse me anymore.... better to drain the solo all the way down and charge all the way a few times? Or, just use and charge as it works out?

No. I live in Washington STATE. In fact, I live equidistant to the two new retail mj stores in Vancouver, WA. Not that there is any product there, yet. The stuff I normally get is from the growers themselves, or one step away.

Will it not be a slice of heaven when this is legal and available world-wide? Sure, it will get weird: trademark wars will keep us mortals amused.

It has come a long way since I was busted at High School in 1970 - I was led out at lunch time by cops, handcuffed like a killer. Doobs kill, my friend.
