Different Effects:Convection VS Conduction

Does your hot drink taste different depending on how you heated the water? Temp makes a difference. How you get to that temp doesn't.

No, but IMO taste is better and effects are stronger with convection vaporizers. Perhaps due to the fact that convection extracts the full spectrum of cannabinoids much better than conduction. Therefore, I must disagree with you. Temperature does make a difference, but I've also found that convection vaporizers medicate better and taste better using the same variables ie. quantity/quality of herb and temperature.

Sorry but that's not a fact. More efficient extraction doesn't equal better extraction.

Sorry, you left out the key word "perhaps" when you quoted me. My point was that IMO convection vaporizers taste better and medicate better using the same quality/quantity of weed at the same temperature. I don't know if I'd go as far to say my opinion makes it a fact, but in my experience it's a fact with me. On the other hand, if you've had different experiences than I've had with convection/conduction vaporizers, I can respect that. After all, everyone has a different bio chemistry and cannabis effects everyone differently, convection/conduction is only one variable....

For me, I have not found that convection give me a better or more powerful high than conduction does or visa versa. What I HAVE experienced though is that the high is more powerful when I switch from conduction to convection or I switch from convection to conduction. For me, it's the change-up that brings on the biggest difference even when the temps are approximately the same.

But I've also found this to be true when I switch from the transfer wand to the WPA and then back again with the LSV.

It appears that the change up in delivery methods even within the same mode of convection or conduction makes a difference. At least it does for me.

For me, the difference is quantity. Conduction vapes do a good job with the material in contact with the heat, which is usually the bottom plate of the "bowl".

Convection vapes do a good job with with the material in contact with the heat, which is usually all the the material in the bowl.

I can fully extract the same .2g of flower using a Volcano or a MFLB. The first takes 5 minutes to heat up, 1 minute to extract into a bag, and 1 minute to inhale. The second has no heat up time, but 20 minutes to extract & inhale.

^^^ Not everyone needs or wants to vape all their material in one quick session, most of the time i want to just take a hit now and again to maintain the medication level i need to function.

Speed of extraction doesn't mean it's better, just faster.

I agree, with convection my ABV is uniformly brown throughout. With conduction vapes the ABV most often is not uniformly browned, in fact there's usually some green scattered throughout the ABV. Sometimes I can get fully browned ABV with a conduction Vape, but that usually takes 20 minutes of huffing and puffing the last 10 minutes with the typical burnt popcorn taste. Also, with most conduction vapes stirring is usually needed.

I have found that my conduction vapes tend to make me more sleepy/stoney/couchlocky than the convection vapes. Sometimes the difference is subtle and in others it is more pronounced. It's what led me to thinking of a vapes' signature. If I really want maximum sativa type effects I will use a sativa in Herbie on a low temp. If I want maximum indica type effects I use an indica at high temp in the Baker.

I have found that the differences are effected most by strain, then by temp, and finally then by the vape's signature or conduction/convection ratio.

Iwien's comment about mixing up methods is a good point. I find when I fall into the same routine (Same vape, same time, same place, same music, etc.) it can be harder to even feel high because you are used to the routine. Even playing Pandora radio to find new tunes instead of an album I've already listened to 100 times can make a difference to me.

I find convection and conduction to differ when it comes to taste and not so much potency of my medication. The taste is better for longer when I use my Convection Vape, the abv is also more uniform, and I find I can draw as hard as I desire with convection. I typically cannot feel anything around 330 F with my conduction vaporizer, but when I use my convection, it gets me pretty medicated. It is possible that my convection Vape might be way better at extracting... Anywho, it doesn't matter whether tis conduction or convection... As long as it's not combustion! Ain't I right fellas??
