never had much luck with the mini torches anyone find one that would last a few years and will light lol.

used to buy them all the time but now not one of them works those that did when they did used a ton of gas.

anyone try the mini heat guns?
EKpOzwc.jpg

The ones standing I use the most.
The ones that are laying down I don't use at all. The big $8.00 orange one I use for dabbing. The $10 black one works the best with the LOTUS.
The HONESTY that comes with the LOTUS kit works however the angle is not to my liking (some may prefer it?)
My T38's are stylist and work however consume too much butane. (@exit is this what you have?)

I'll buy more at some point however these are doing the job to medicate.

Still not here, and that is over a month now. DX may be cheap, but they are dog slow...

I finally gave up on this order and got PayPal to give me a refund. I have one other lighter I ordered from them (DX) recently, but I am not going to count on ever getting it. It was under $4.

I just want to remind people to not give vendors TOO much time to send you stuff if paying by PayPal as they have a 45 day limit (policy) on refunds.

I've narrowed my choices to these three. Any consensus from those in the know? I plan to use the torch with my Gnome Cone and with a Lotus that I plan to pick up in the near future.

The Zico "Anteater" (I like to call it) is the only one of those 3 I have, and I like it a lot. It is not my hottest torch, but seems to work well enough and feels great in my hand.

I have been thinking about getting the one in the middle with the pistol grip. The only thing holding me back is that it is designed as a double flame lighter, but can operate in single flame mode so that shouldn't be a problem. And I think some have suggested that it doesn't have a sharp point, but many (including he who creates frankenpipes) ;) seem to like it muchly.

I'm looking for another 90° torch. Has anyone tried this one? http://www.amazon.com/Degree-Angel-Flame-Butane-lighter/dp/B005VSZ1WI There is a youtube for it too.
Tank looks a little small...

OMG, Really? I didn't know this addiction existed. I wouldn't think you would last long...

I apologize for the Jerry Springer nature of this, but OMG...

I tried to combine these 2 posts into one, but I gave up...

Away with the fairies

Nice collection you have there Ataxian

I really need want a Zico T-38 - I just love their shape.

I used to have one identical to that on the lower left - it popped in my hand - it wasn't lit at the time, but it was warm from its last use - I jumped right out of my skin I can tell you!

@ataxian I have been noticing that too...that T-38 sucks up the butane. I am going to get that Cellbar10 pistol looking one. everyone that I know on this forum that has one loves it. May be too much fire power for my vapman but I wanna give it a go.

I like this one the best and with the LOTUS it's perfect. $10 including shipping! I buy a 5 pack of JHOOK's from the sunshine store on dhgate.
Simple however functional!

I have the ZICO's and they work ok. (consume a lot of butane)
The one in the middle for $10 including shipping with a dual or single flame position.

@TheDudeNextDoor posted the one in the middle I use with the LOTUS.

I've used it every day since getting it and it has been a champ so far. No problems.

90° pistol grip guys came (they come in pairs). Will try one out later tonight. No gas level window, but I'll adjust. ;) I think I have one more torch still to come but I think I may have finally Tamed my TAS. But only time will tell, and I am still getting the thrill of new arrivals...

I got this Jobon lighter from ebay. Looks awesome, and has a nice feature with a very easy to adjust flame (plastic thing comes out and acts as a handle on bottom). Doesn't work though at max flame level or a bit below that. A 1/4 turn down from max gives me a good size flame and the lighter stays on.

Thinking about getting a nicer ~$30 lighter for my Lotus. Is there such a thing as a more reliable lighter company? I like that the pistol lighter liked in this thread is advertised as a welding torch, that seems like it would be built more reliably overall. My initial thought is Jetline for some reason? The C-45 looks nice.

I recently bought the Scorch Torch Gabon from Amazon. They appear to be the only place selling the torch. The order was $10.96 with free shipping. Fast shipping too, came within the week I bought it.

The torch comes in a nice box and comes with a velvet pouch that you can store it in. Although it's a nice addition it's not really worth much and is just extra waste. It took me three days to lose it haha.

The design of the torch allows you to hold it with the same grip that you use on a flashlight. Although it's meant to be held with the button facing down, I found it more comfortable to hold it with the button facing up so I can press it with my thumb on top. The whole metal tip will get hot after use; you have to hold it by the black plastic to not get burned. On the rear is a dial with a flip-up handle for easy flame adjustment. The black plastic feels kinda cheap but the overall build is solid and I have confidence it should longer than the 1300c torches I bought before.

Flame Adjustment
bwYaANP.jpg

The torch holds 3.56 grams of butane. When it is completely filled, tipping it down by 30° causes the flame to burn at max power. After a few 10 second burns this no longer happens and you can use the torch at any angle. The flame gets ridiculously long and lights consistently unless the flame is set too low. The flame seems a bit softer than some other torches I've had but it works fine on my Vapman.

Max Flame Length

Length I use with the Vapman
KczWPTe.jpg

THE BAD

  • Cheap feeling plastic
  • Large tip gets hot
  • Can't point it downwards when completely full
  • No fuel window
THE GOOD
  • Design works well with the Vapman
  • Convenient and easy to adjust flame length
  • Flame can get very large and still ignite
  • Mostly solid construction and feel
  • Decent size fuel tank
Next to Vapman for Scale

I'm satisfied with this torch for now and I'd recommend it to other Vapman users. I would not recommend it to Lotus owners because of the downward angle you'd have to hold it at. Did I mention it's also good for lighting candles? The shape gives some good reach.

After reading every post in this thread, I'm still not sure what the general consensus is about a good pocket torch.

Can anyone sum it up for me?

No sure if anyone has mentioned this one before but I've been having good luck with it. Picked it up at a local smoke/newspaper store for $6 and really like it. So much I picked up another. Suits my needs for the Lotus and has easy adjustments for flame and easy viewing of remaining butane. Holds a shitload of gas and also has a lock for the flame. So far it has lit every time.

It seems like online vendors sell it in packs of four or six.

just bought my first little dab rig from V&C and need a mini torch for dabbing. Any suggestions on a hot mini torch for dabbing on the go? I notice most all of these have been said to work well with flame based portables, just not sure if they would be adequate to heat a 10mm nail quickly. TIA
