Discontinued Elevape SV

The elevape needs a stirring every few inhales or you get very uneven abv, it seems the hot air comes more concentrated in some places wich turns the material in those places darker
Uniform roasting is the most difficult thing to achieve in convection vaporizers.... Very few vapes bake so uniformly that they don't need stirring. And usually there is some conduction going on there as well. I mean if the hot air comes from above, how can the bottom particles of the load get baked at the same time? Some magic needs to happen... :p

Cera does the job with no problem if you use the correct technique, maybe if I
put setting 1 very very low, setting 2 a bit higher and setting 3 at the temp I want,
this way I can toot on it at setting 1 to prime the load and then go further to setting
2 and 3 to get better and more uniform extraction.
The great thing about this vaporizer is also a bit of a downside, it's the instant reaction
to your inhale, then it starts heating at that temp, you can't just pull slowly to get the
load up to temp.
But I still really really like it alot I must say

Kazz, try blowing into the mouth piece before loading a new bowl. You can also put your finger over the bowl and blow to clear the airway during use.

Finally got around to trying trying this last night and it works like a charm! Thanks for the heads up. (I can't believe I didn't think of trying it myself...)

...What these temps do tell me though, is that I probably want to lower my settings of 18/22/26 a little...as soon as I can find a 420-friendly PC, lol. What settings work best for you guys?

I have my settings at 14, 17 & 19. I start low and switch up as the bowl is used.

@Ipuffusa. Once at 100% according to the app (I'm color blind and have problems making the difference between the orange and green light) I've unplugged it and was able to vaporize. Today I went again to the point where it stopped heating up, checked the battery level on the app and it was showing at 70% again.
:)

@sasNW another question good sir, do you ever get the battery shown as below 30% on the app?

I have trouble telling the difference between green and orange lights as well. My battery quits firing when the app shows approx 50%. I have no complaints about the battery life, but it would be nice to have the app calibrated with the actual battery level

... Also, wondering if the mouth piece could be replaced with a standard ecig drip tip with a lower profile.

An 801 ecig drip tip will fit. A standard 510 is too skinny. You may see them listed on some sites as a 10mm drip tip.

IMO evenly vaped herb w/o stirring is a characteristic I attribute primarily to radiant heat..

BTW, Has anyone tried using the EV upside down? I've been kind of wondering how that would go..

I got to try an Elevape today... and I am ordering one ASAP.

Thank you, @sasNW for sharing :) Oh, and, btw, it was FUN vaping with an FC friend today!

Great vaping with you and your husband today!!! Had a blast, might have to crash a couple more of your lounge parties if you don't mind ;)
Really should set up a vape stand

You will love the SV for work, I know it!

Thanks again for the invite, awesome meeting another FCer!!!

@Buildozer I will go try the SV upside down now and let you know

Could you elaborate a bit?
I know it was only one experience but it must have been a good one!

I am stuck between the Elevape and the Firefly....
Imo, if you need a portable for on the go and can't charge after every couple of bowls the choise is easy... Need I say more?

Enchantre, how was it compared to the Hammer in terms of vapor production, taste?

Just finished a bowl on 7 with the SV upside down. I couldn't tell a difference other then not being able to see the light. With the way it only heats when you are inhaling it doesn't seem that it makes much a difference what side the heating coil is. I'll try a few more bowls just to be sure though

@sasNW, Thanks dude.. I didn't expect much, but I was wondering about it..
Just curious, Did you have your herb tamped down so it would stay in place while upside down, or was it loose just sitting on the lid? Would you say it performed comparable to level 7 right side up?

No problem, I finally got a day at home to just get vaked for an afteenoon:cheers:
Full packed bowl like I do every time now. I found its performs better full pack with nowhere for the herb to move. Yup i'd say comparable to right side up. The only time the radiant heat would effect the bud is when you aren't inhaling anyway, so it does make sense to keep it minimal with the coil up top like they have it.

Any other questions, shoot. I'm just getting destroyed off my new CGD recycler all day finally:rockon:

I emailed joe@ipuff to find out how to make it have less resistance on the draw but after trying what he said I couldn't tell a difference hardly at all. I tried leaving one of the screws in the bowl area out and that made a hugh difference. I tried it with a small amount, barely packed it at all and stirred after every 2 pulls and just got my most uniform abv yet. Most of the time when I stir I just take the lid off and gently tap the side of the unit very rapidly with a knuckle.

SasNW likes his daytime meds at really low temps, and I didn't mess with his settings, so there was no real visible vapor... but wow, really great taste! the draw on it, though his bowl was, indeed, maxed out, was really easy for me. It kept up with my draw, both fast and slow.

The form factor is great... I absolutely can see this as an amazingly stealthy, quick, reliable flower vape for on the go.. it is NOT "small", but it is compact, and it is pocket friendly. Pull it out, up to face, draw, down to pocket, it's gone, and you're still savoring the taste!

I wouldn't mind having a button to press that would kill power to the coil instead of having to wait for the auto-shutoff since I like to keep inhaling after it turns off to clear the chamber. Our maybe that could be addressed through software, an adjustable auto-shutoff. Mine actually starts blinking at 5 seconds which I actually think I would prefer to the 8 it says in the instructions.

I tested the battery today and the wife and I came up to 80+
8 second inhales total, the same amount for each setting. This
was done during the whole day with 6 different mflb loads.
The settings I used : 1) 185 2) 195 3) 205 °C
So I think that's not bad at all.

*edit* When I plug it in, the app says battery 80% but the vapor
at setting 3 is getting really thin.

Man, this is getting me depressed, I'm really having troubles with that one. I don't always get effects, I easily combust with settings at 7, 11 or 15... I just don't understand what's wrong :(

After trying everything I could think of, all my hopes are in the next software update, may it be magical.

I'm glad it works fine for you guys but I'm sad I'm not part of the group...

It could be your coil. You should email joe@ipuff

There's a member at the tail end of the firefly thread that is having similar issues, wispy or combustion but not finding a groove. Since they are in the same price range, maybe you guys could work out a trade and see if things change for you? Seriously, a vape that works great for one person may be totally wrong for the next and vice-versa, especially with portables. Obviously there's a whole list of reasons this will not happen, but what if you were in the same area? It could be worth a try, or they could indeed be defective...

Did you try small loads and stirring often?
Because big loads, fine grind or no stirring give me real dark area's close to combustion
if I don't look out.

I would contact joe @Ipuffusa for sure, that just doesn't sound like a unit that is functioning properly.

Can someone compare it to the pax... is there a learning curve... is it efficent... is the taste good (can you say which herb you are vaping).... how are the clouds it produces... how are the products used to build this vape (safe? Any plastic in the vapor path or so....) ... is the sv stealthy to use in public.... as you maybe know i am not very happy with my pax especially regarding taste... efficency... plastic..... and thinking of selling my pax and buying sv..

As I've stated a few times, there is a small learning curve, but most seem to be getting the hang of it in a day. There's not much to it.

Efficiency - best vape in the market in terms of efficiency IMO. Only heat applied is when you're inhaling, so nothing goes to waste.

Taste- not the absolute best, but it's still certainly delicious vapor. It doesn't leave me wanting more, I'm super happy with the taste. I can easily taste the small differences between strains. I'd put it about with the SS solo for the first half, then the solo takes the lead in the end of the bowl. and miles ahead in taste, harshness, and vapor temp of the Pax or PnP. Honestly it delivers cooler vapor then my ss solo did

Clouds - can be as large or small as you want them. Larger clouds just take about 10-12 seconds of inhaling. I'm working on getting a video edited up to show the cloud production of this thing. I haven't seen anyone with a functional unit complain about blowing clouds yet?

Materials- nearly the entire vape is made of anodized aluminum, so no worries there. A couple stainless steel screens, all good there. A high temp o-ring that's not actually directly in the path it's just a seal in the cap, zero taste and I've been assured a few times by Elevape that they spent a lot of time and money finding the safest materials possible. I absolutely believe that with how tasty it is and the build quality. Then an aluminum or plastic mouthpiece, your choice. I suggest plastic because the vapor isn't going to warm it up and it provides better airflow. Nice cool vapor that tastes very pure is what you get.

And it's hands down the most stealthy vape on the market IMO. 10 seconds alone and you can blow huge clouds, or you can choose tasty whispy vapor walking on a crowded road to blend in. For on the go it can't get better then on demand vapor at any moment and not have to worry about heat up time or finishing a session.

The only edge pax has is that you can load more in the oven. Every other category the SV blows it out of the water IMO and don't forget the 3 settings on the SV are customizable by you to be anywhere between 350F and 450F unlike your pax:nod:
