Could some of you solo pros point me in the right direction? What I'm looking for is info related to issues I've seen others have - tho they aren't bothered by. Like....

Is there still a good source for GonG attachments other than customs?
What's the best way to keep fine crumbs from coming through the glass screen in the stem?
Is it worth getting a car charger, or can a good charge go 4 or 5 sessions while I'm in transit?
How well does the charger work in use? If my battery is nearly dead, will it run well as soon as plugged in?
And, any other info a pretty seasoned vapor might like to know, instead of figuring out for their hard-headed self?

Sorry for the question barrage! I know all of this is in here somewhere and am poking through the thread now. But, 1137 pages is a lot to read!! :o

Thanks for the tip.. speaking of tips, gonna check this adapter, says 12V 110v 1000mA DC , model sw-120100 , UL listed....but going to test it.

However that said, I highly doubt the 12volt version takes 60 amps.

You're welcome. While it's always worth checking, the adapter is not your problem. Since it charges, I can guarantee it's between 10.1 and 15 Volts and just fine for charging. The regulation is internal to Solo. You need to check the final battery voltage when charging shuts down. More than 8.4 and you're on borrowed time.

I agree that 60 Amps is doubtful, but if it really is 700 Watts at 12 Volts that's what it has to be....no other way about it. I'd pass.

Vape while driving? Only on long highway trips, but mostly for passenger(s). Not like I'm on those crazy Cali interstates too much. Out there it's both hands on the wheel - eyes always on the road! East coast much easier to set the cruise control and hang with the blue hairs in the right lane.

Those are the specs of both my 2012 and 2014 chargers. Nothing seems amiss with yours on paper, but testing it would still be worth your while.


I just purchased my Solo about 2 to 3 months ago. Purchased a switchable power supply with the same specs as in your quote only it goes from 9 to 12 volts. When i leave it on the 12 v setting it will power my Solo and charge it at the same time. No problems with maintaining the charge, I just wish i used it more. But i picked up the Extreme Q 2 or 3 yrs ago,so it gets more use than the Solo. Just can't beat the flavor of the Q in my opinion.

The wood stems look really nice, but I cant justify paying a total of $50+ when I have to buy the clip removal tool just to clean the stem...
This is what I use for my glass stem https://www.planetvape.ca/travel-tube.html. About the clip in ed's stem, I removed it once with pointy tweezers. And didnt put it back :). Not needed I think

I took my Solo out in public today. This is the first time I have taken my 2014 unit out and about, and I probably only took the now deceased 2012 Solo out in public two times in its lifespan.

Like some on here, I have serious anxiety about vaping in public, but since I have my card I have no reason to hide my medication from the citizenry.

I was early for my appointment with my therapist, so I found a picnic table in the shade, put on some headphones, and had a nice 24 minute session with the Solo. Only one person so much as looked twice at me, and it made me much more focused and relaxed for therapy, so I think I will be making a habit of this. For anyone worried about using their Solo in public, start slowly and discreetly, and you'll become more and more comfortable with gradual exposure. It wasn't quite as relaxed as medicating in my home, but it was still a beautiful day to be outside using a beautiful device.

The big thing about vaping/smoking mj in public, in Quebec at least, is it aint a crime. Law says you will get a civil fine. So thats the big risk.

As you all know I'm a Solo owner, had it since uhhh April I guess, have to look at my posts...
One thing is, a lot of people don't know how to use it.
You hold the right button for a moment to return to your last temp setting.
You hold the left button to turn on/off the turnon and shutoff beep.
The unit shows the battery level when turned on, then the heat level of the chamber.

Anyway.
I got the problem a lot of you have had, my battery won't hold a charge now.
Still under warranty but will they bother now that I've chipped the bottom plate with a drop.
So I ordered an HC battery from @CentiZen at his site .. waiting for it now , it'll probably take a few weeks at least.
Had a discussion with him about whether or not his product actually voids warranty or not.
To find out, message me.

So... a great product with an inferior battery. Got it cheap so I guess I don't mind the $48 for the new High Capacity battery .
I'm looking at posts now about the HC battery, hopefully it's gotten good reviews.

Also checking out the electric nail however I have found 12volt, but not battery powered yet. Guess it takes 700 watts so I'm not gonna see a truly portable one anytime soon. However the 12 volt version looks good. See what I'm talking about here.

Just to chime in with my experience. I vape all day. I had 2 solos I would completely charge and use untill charge appears and then switch for the full one. Not optimal charge routines. It took about 7-8 months for my battery packs to give me about 3 0.70g bowls.

So I feel too something is/went wrong with your packs. 3 months seems short for problems.

Hey. Please don't quote me on the 700 watt thing for the 12volt version. As I said before, the 110 AC version takes 7-900 watts, but, I have NO idea what the 12 volt takes.
Don't be so quick to poo-poo it, might be a great little unit. I've tried the household one and I had epic results regarding taste potency and cloud.

i had an interesting Solo experience a couple days ago pursuant to all this recent talk about stealthiness.

Normally, when my wife and I go to a concert, I bring my MFLB for a variety of reasons...stealthy, small, and cheap enough that it's no problem to "drop it on the ground" if the need arises. (Price is one reason I won't bring one of my Fireflys to a concert...not willing to lose the thing, frankly.) Usually it's a matter of hitting the MFLB in the car prior to showtime, but as much as I dig the LB, it's notoriously inconsistent and temperamental, and times transpire where I'm sitting there for 15 minutes trying to get satisfactory hits from it. (Of course, when my wife is waiting for me, and showtime is calling, that's when I have the spottiest results from the LB. Natch.)

Anyway on a whim I charged up my Solo, which I've barely used since getting my first FF last December, and took it instead of the LB down to NH to see Yes the other night. Parking in an overflow lot (next to the local police station...seriously!) I got down to biz. I was able to open my car's center console and basically leave the Solo in the console, below the level of the little doors that open up. Using the bent stem, I just kinda leaned into the opening of the console and got four or five large trademark Solo hits. Anyone looking into the car would see me looking closely into the console, but no part of the Solo or stem was visible. (My wife says "I hate your vapes with the glass stem...it looks so much like paraphernalia." Me: "Yes, but in this case, the stem allows me to completely hide the unit.") And even counting warm-up time, I was still able to complete my task in like 7 minutes, maybe half the time I tend to struggle with the MFLB. Most importantly, I had an extremely satisfying experience...with the LB I'm usually like "do I need to hit one more time? Not sure...." With the Solo, there's no ambiguity. I know when I'm all set.


It was a bit of a revelatory experience. I had a better session, faster, with more stealth. (Plus, if the need arises to "drop on the ground" I can always toss the glass stem and not the main unit.) Bottom line: my Solo, which I've always loved, but has taken a backseat to my FFs, is now out of mothballs and will be my future concert vape. It stands to get a lot of usage. :lol::clap:

I purchased this a few months back when I meant to purchase a 18650C, but was rushing, and in a moment of stupidity wound up with this.

I am assuming that it would be way out of spec for use in my Solo, but I figured I'd ask anyway before finding something else to rig it up to.

Sad to say, you're right. That version has the two cells in parallel for twice the current capacity. The one you want puts them in series for twice the voltage (at the same current capacity). But be careful, these guys have the PCB on the end making the pack too tall to fit without trimming all the jacket away carefully.

Yesterday I got my solo and today is the first day I've tried it out. I didn't feel I understood it at first but I think I"m doing just fine now. This is a sweet experience. My first real vape at home. It is sooooo smooth. In my enthusiasm, I think I took too much. What can be done? :)

Yes, that (the PCB) is an issue. You need a dual channel one, like this one:

A bit of overkill, we only need a 3 or 4 Amp board but that one works well for me. As does using the factory one, cut the straps a bit long (close to the battery) and lap solder them to the tabs on the new battery. There's some photos of a pack I made this way last fall. If you don't reuse the thermal switch you should get a new one. All Battery has them too IIRC.

Exit, I have the car charger thats mated for the Solo and I have had only one problem. In the beginning, I blew a fuse in the charger (it's located at the tip). Another FCer steered me in the right direction. I found fuses at Radio Shack. I make sure I don't have it plugged in when I start the car. I was thinking that maybe that could cause the fuse to blow out. I'm not electronically inclined but it made sense to me.

Your problem is probably different than mine was.

Have you done the same measurement after a full charge from the home charger to compare? 8.9 volts would dramatically shorten the battery life . Your case is sure becoming interesting.
The Solo should regulate the charge and stop charging once 8.4 volts is reached. After that, it should only get a small charge from the Solo "checking" the charge level. Some term this trickle charging.
In your case, from how I understand it.
-Has happened with more than one Solo and only while on car charging.
Should eliminate it being a Solo issue.
Car chargers are just a method to connect to car's electrical so only a strait connection.
Eliminates the car charger.
So the only thing left is something going on with your cars electrical system. Maybe spikes from the alternator or noise from something else.?
I have heard of the accessories plug tip over heating and melting. This was do to not having it pushed in all the way and the connection would get hot from the bad connection. This would cause much noise on the 12 volt rail as well.

Even so, this should not happen as the Solo should prevent any excessive charging thus we must be missing a piece of the puzzle..?

At this point I just use it to raise it a couple battery levels when it's low because I don't trust it go to full.

I still can't understand this. How does the Solo know if the 12 Volts is coming from the charger or car battery? That is how come it stops at 8.4 and then it doesn't. 2 car adapters? Same car? There's basically nothing of interest in the car adapter.......

How is the rest of the car electrics? Radio normal, light bulb life OK? Any sign of electrical 'noise'?

One thing sure, your avoiding charging past 8.4 is a good idea if you want to keep using those batteries......

There's a piece missing here somewhere.......who's got it?
