Kleen extract

So has anyone actually received this stuff yet? Was going to order the gallon instead of more everclear but I'm not down for random shipping times/estimates...

Can't really imagine this stuff being that much better than everclear other than at the end of evaporating the excess ethanol there won't be that white milky shit (which is supposed to be water?). But still, if it's the same price for a gallon might as well get 100% stuff

True, but as soon as you open the Kleen Xtract it will start absorbing water from the atmosphere and could potentially end up having more water than 99ISO...hmmm.

Cool, good to know that the orders are being delivered...now I can't decide if I want this or just try the 99ISO from Grainger.

if i were making this decision i would go the KX route. IME ethanol washes produce a tastier return over iso. both will work well though.

on a side note. id like to evap identical amounts of everclear and kleen xtract in identical dishes side by side and note how long they take to fully evap.

@2clicker that got me thinking, so we know Ethanol will absorb atmospheric water...how much does it absorb? I've read that it grabs 5% almost immediately...does it keep absorbing? Does the Everclear do the same thing?

So after 2 hours evap time, the everclear has gone from 60 ml to less than 10. It has clearly absorbed moisture as there is a distinct white hue to the remains. The Kleenx has evaporated to 20 ml and no evidence of the moisture absorbtion that the everclear showed. The temperature was around 78 degrees and humidity was above 65%. I surely expected the Kleenx to evap quicker.....I will do the extract run on my 7 g of indica tomorrow, got a BB King show to attend.....til then just concentrate!

@mephisto I look forward to seeing your results...I wonder what is accounting for the KleenX to not evap as fast...surely one would think that if it is 100% alcohol that it would evap quicker. Even though it does absorb from the atmosphere, it sort of has a "head start" for evaping; if one opened both bottles at the same time, one would think that the Everclear will always have more water since it starts with 5% already and the KleenX does not...so the KleenX should evap quicker. This is a curious finding @mephisto. Best of luck on the run and I envy you being able to go see and hear B.B.

its interesting that the everclear evaporated faster... but at the cost of water exchange...

with your evaporation @mephisto did you use any moving air to asist in the evaporating?

personal log: will vacuum evaporation prevent the water exchange that occurs with everclear?

i kinda wonder if there is a slight anecdotal catch here ... they are selling ethyl alcohol...200proof... but everclear is specifically 190 proof distilled grain alcohol...

so not only water is in debate here... but what were the distillation ingredients in Kleenx? were their only grains or does it have some cane or grape alcohol?

ethyl describes and liquid that readily sublimates at room temperature... although im getting technical with such...

could the white hues be waxes, and lipids extracted through your qwet process and not moisture? just a thought.i havent done a no heat evap with ethanol yet, plan to next time. only small heat with fan blowing over, always yields shatter tho

we are still talking about the EC vs KX evap race yeah? there was no wash here. just testing the evap speed. no flowers involved so it couldnt be waxes. btw... love the user name!

Great Scott!
I just got a free bottle of everclear 375ml today, so it looks like I'll be waiting until next week to place my order at least. No biggie, but I'm super interested.

As for the Kleen vs Everclear evap times, were they in the EXACT same kind of container? Is it possible that wherever in the room the everclear was had a stronger ventilation/breeze? Just wondering what would make that happen.

Got mine yesterday, ordered a gallon and got 4 quart bottles. One is in the freezer now along with 7 g of indica. Will follow up with extraction results.
What carrier delivered it? I haven't gotten a shipping confirmation yet so I don't know how to expect delivery.

Solid move, I hope they are as enthusiastic about their product as we are.
