@Ratchett..any reason you wanted taller?..

I'm wondering the same.

Can I get a shorter one? :p. How small can we effectively go? A nano-nano.

I went taller because I wanted to make more use of the wood I paid for (to see more of the beautiful design), and because I wanted to add a bit more mass to the vape so the weight of the cord couldn't knock it over so easily when the PWM is hanging off the table. The extra height and density of the Afzelia adds 28 grams to the weight verses my Figured Walnut Nano. Initial testing looks good

Indeed the VAS and GAS is strong, but how can you blame me when my first and vape died after one month! I was vape-less for a week! Oh the horrors! :o - I decided to get something simple and reliable (hence the Nano and the Lotus - but elegantly simple in their own rights).

Thankfully, I think my VAS has been cured for now (I would have been happy with my first nano - but that all that sexy wood Snappo posted was too tempting!). Let's just say fucking combustion has been very good on my wallet, hopefully I can get this pesky GAS under control before my wife get's too pissed!!!

After 55 hours in my possession, I finally had my inaugural draw. :whoa:
Awesome Nano performance as always, I love how dense the Afzelia is! It feels more like stone than wood!

I just torch my baskets clean followed by a quick iso bath to get any loose carbon off. Seems to work fine and I rarely ever need to change them out.
Oh Caligula, you savant

I tried this because I'm out of ISO, and was given a little surprise from the burning of the clogged screen. Found that it leaves a nice little surprise :).

Earwax is gonna end up being my favorite color I think.

Heh, glad I could help, but IMO, save your reclaim mining for the gong/stem!

You should use a hotter flame than that Bic to torch the screen. I usually use pliers and either my butane torch or my natural gas stove burner on high.

Of course don't let good meds go to waste. Some herb mops that up quite nicely.

Well I usually just ISO soak it, but I had next to none left and forgot to cap it fully, so it had evaporated. The screen is clean at least and yeah, i used a tiny bit of cotton to pick it up. 2 decent hits and 3-4 mediocre ones out of it. Not great, but it's free reclaim that woulda just been washed away before haha.

Hey guys just wondering what's the difference between figured walnut and the regular walnut from epic vape? And also what is the difference between the new v2(?) nano and the old? Thanks

Figured walnut has horizontal stripes that aren't visible at all angles. The main grain pattern looks similar to traditional walnut, but there's stripes running perpendicular that you see in the right light. It's really trippy to look at, almost holographic after a few sessions!

Though sadly because I'm usually in my basement enjoying the 90" screen, my lights are dimmed and I don't get to see this. Hence the upgrade from figured walnut to Afzelia Burl

V2 has a removable cord, I think that's it

Hey all!... Enough jabbering, here she is!!!!
Who want's to see a video of a pair of Nano's connected to one bubbler??? :science:

Fucking GORGEOUS @Ratchett !!! Great pics, too. They gave me a woody! Would love to see that vid, too.

Anyone have any tips for reforming the adjustable basket screens? They keep moving around on me and i'm wondering if there is anything I can do ?

Are you using the newer GonGs? Screens can be pushed in from the bottom on these. Pull your screen and flare out the open end. Push through from the GonG side/bottom (flared end wont fit). Or if using screens "basket" style, flare and push in from top. This usually fixes it for me.

After browsing this thread and the cheap chinese glass thread am I crazy to sell the used volcano I bought a few months ago and get an e-nano and a mess of chinese glass?

@biohacker already said it, but couldn't agree more. You'd be crazy not to unless you really enjoy bags or are often hosting parties of 5 or more where bags can help. Just do it! Even better.... pawn your Volcano if you can find someone to do it for a few months. Buy the nano. Your savings on meds should net enough in a couple months to buy the Volcano back - if you even still want it at that point!

Forgive the ignorance, but how do you remove a GonG screen? I have a GonG 14mm adapter and a GonG stem, and both seem to have a fixed screen.

EDIT Ignore this; been up since too early and read GonG as all glass in my brainplace.

No worries! It happens. You should check out the adjust-a-bowls, though. I have glass screen versions of both the stem & GonG. Sometimes use the stem trying to build up cotton reclaim, but the adjust-a-bowls are just awesome. Adjustability is key to getting the most you can out of your nano, and flakes don't make it through. Small screen (or rimmed basket screen in GonG itself) can cure this in glass screen versions, but IMO the flow is still much better with adjust-a-bowls and much less of a PIA.

My unit makes a slight ting sound when I place it down. Sounds like metal contacting. It isn't like a rattle inside the unit just a noise for a split-second. Anyone else experience this?

It's the heating element against the stainless steel tube. It's not an issue and won't affect performance or your warranty. if it gets too annoying you can always send it back and I'll take care of it.

For what it's worth, mine doesn't do this when setting it down but does when I give the base a small finger thump. Hope I'm not negatively affecting my warranty, but sometimes find myself giving it a few thumps when all vaped up because it sounds neat! Tone seems to change a bit based on heat and how I'm holding it. Maybe not a good idea to add the nano to your percussion set up, but just another cool thing I like about it. Have always enjoyed something that can be fun to fidget with, and you certainly don't want to try to thump the other end while it's on. Ouch!

I have one with the basket screen too. I adore the flavor of good bud, so i got the all glass pathway pieces when I ordered it because I knew that I'd try them eventually.

I want to try a flavor setup too, using a micro rig with little diffusion. Thinking about getting a couple 14mm all glass gongs to go with. Just gotta pick a micro that doesn't tip over when the nano is on.

Yeah, i tried using it with a friend's 8 inch oil rig and we tipped it twice; we caught it each time, but I definitely wouldn't go for that as a permanent setup.

How micro? There are a few cheap glass pieces that a few others and I mention here regularly. They are small, but not micro by my definition. But, anything micro isn't going to be solid enough of a base to prevent tipping. Neither of these are "tip proof", but they aren't too tippy with nano on top. For that, you'd probably have to step the size (and cost) up a bit.

Both of these can be had for very cheap from a Chinese seller. They're both 18mm, but seems most of the small cheap pieces from China are. Just pick up the 18mm GonG instead of 14mm. Either is about $30, but take a couple weeks to get to you. I prefer the second one. It is a bit more stable under a nano, and the sidecar keeps the nano from being right at the tip of your nose. Also allows you to watch the diffusion because of the offset. Both are close to the same size (sorry, only found measurements in pic of one) and come with a slide and very cheap oil setup. Links directly below the pictures. There are also many more on the same site, but I'd advise you stay with this seller (sunshinestore). They have a pretty good rep here at FC.

Whats the average turn-around time if I send it back? I'd be sending it from FL.

Think mine was a total of 8 days from when I dropped it at the PO until when it was back on my doorstep. I'm on East Coast, too.

YMMV, but I have never tasted a difference between the all glass and the adjust-a-bowls. Don't think the ss screen imparts any flavor, at least not at the temps I'm using.

has there ever been a temp chart for the e-nano? I know all units are different but it would be nice knowing approximately what temp I am using. (which is typically at 7)

Here's an old post by @Dafni with just that. Very informative, obviously actual temperatures in the bowl will vary greatly but the poster's experiences with temp settings was very similar to both of my Nanos.

Hello fellow Nano lovers,

I would like to share my experience with the E-Nano. I’m not a native English speaker, please bear with me, I’ll try the best I can. Mods please don’t hesitate to change my grammar and spelling if it’s too bad.

So I had some time with my E-Nano and love it so far. Excellent little device.

I was playing around with temp settings and came up with a way to accurately measure the temperature of the airflow right where it hits the herbal load.

From my work background I have access to some fancy thermo probes and I always test my new vaporizers. I love to play around with these things.

For the Nano I built a little GonG adapter with the thermo probe dead center right where the herbs would be, and a bit of cotton to simulate the load. Cotton lets me simulate loose or dense loads without getting me too medicated over time.

I put that adapter on a big bubbler and my Nano on top, giving it long exaggerated pulls, trying to max out the temp of each setting.
“Maxing out” the temp on a purely convective vape is not easy, as the longer one pulls the higher the temp gets. So I had to settle for a realistic experimental pull that I could reproduce over and over again without fainting.

That said, I really went to town on it, trying to find the hottest temps that could be achieved for each setting. I am a relatively big guy and can draw longer and harder than most people I know, so I would not be surprised if someone else could not reproduce the temps I was able to hit.
Therefore I repeated the experiment with different people, trying to find an average temp that is easy to achieve for most.

The airflow (a direct consequence of the density of the load) has a huge impact on the final readings, as can be expected.

To represent different airflow rates and different users, I collected my data in a temp range for each setting.
The lower end representing a temp that should be easy to reach by anyone, even with a loose load.
The top end representing my top temps that I achieved. I would take those as max temps for each setting.

So here are the numbers:

Setting: Temp Range

5: 150-160°C (302-320°F)
5.5: 165-175°C (329-347°F)
6: 180-190°C (356-374°F)
6.5: 195-205°C (383-401°F)
7: 210-220°C (410-428°F)
7.5: 225-235°C (437-455°F)
8: 240-250°C (464-482°F)

Please note the nice linear pattern, and keep in mind those are average numbers out of many many test runs, different load densities and users.

So in theory, given a nice dense and dry load, exaggerated long steady pulls, one should be able to reach combustion on the 7.5 setting. (and IIRC someone here posted something like this)
I myself never combusted in my Nano so far, but I got very close. Obviously I roasted some of my cotton loads a light brown (something that would probably combust some herbs)
If you don’t pack your loads hard and draw for very long I think even the 8 setting should work, for those complete extractions or those very big hits.

All in all I am very happy with the numbers the Nano produced, how quick and reliable the temp changes where, how quick the loads cool off when you stop pulling, how warm the device gets on the outside, how free the airflow is and even how sleek that thing looks and feels.

Thank you Andy for such a nice little thing, and thanks to all for reading. Comments and questions welcome!

How bad are they deformed?

I remember reading something about using a 10mm PVC pipe and I'm guessing a 8-9mm dow rod as a push rod to form a basket.

I would like to know myself.

They aren't badly deformed. I just need them to be tighter against the gong so it doesn't slide and move when I stir it.

Almost there...
Hey guys. Hoping some of the Canadian members can let me know if they had any issues shipping their nano across the border into Canada.
I've been using a Solo since I switched to vaping a few months ago but I'm hoping the nano will be my first desktop.
I live 90 minutes from the border so I have a Plan B but mail would be easiest if it's problem free.
Thanks.

No issues here either.
Just came through regular mail and they dropped it in my box!
