I will give HerbalAire themselves another 24 hours or so to respond in kind, but here is what I was greeted with from PlanetVape this morning. It literally put a smile on my face.
The HerbalAire 2.2 includes a 3 year manufactures warranty, you did try returning to the manufacture and obviously the outcome was less than satisfactory. Very sorry to hear about the problems.

We can do a warranty replacement for you.
Talk about retailers stepping up to the plate when manufacturers drop the ball! They even mention that it isn't normally their policy, but since I tried to return it to HerbalAire they will make an exception.

This is how it should be.

Too bad it was necessary, but good for PlanetVape. Not being in CA I haven't used them for anything, but I will watch for an opportunity. That is good karma for them.

It turns out that PlanetVape's HerbalAire rescue mission might not be necessary after all.
We did in fact replace the electronics board on the unit. It was not buzzing when we bench tested it for a day after putting it together. We would have never just sent the unit back without so much as an explanation.

Customer service is how we built the company and is what we are know for.

We will send you a new unit today.

Best regards,
herbalAire support
Mind you, given my recent unsatisfactory experience, I will not be holding my breath until I have a new, working unit in my hands. At least there is an effort being made to redeem themselves after their failure the first time around.

Exactly what I was hoping for. I'm sure you will let us know when you get it. I really do think these are good guys and slow or poor response may well be related to vacations and summer staff, but while that may be an explanation, there is no excuse for bad service and they better pick it up. There are too many options out there to alienate clients, and word of mouth is crucial.

Hi FC
ive just joined the forum today been meaning to for a while as ive used the site for hints and tips etc.
Little bit of back ground, used to smoke/combust cigs joints bongs but year and half a go gave up tabacco.
I use e cigs for my nicotine and currently own a arizer solo, silver surfer and now herbalaire h2.2.
I like my solo for camping beach use and works fine.
For the last year my ssv has been my go to vape. I love the ssv and have got my head round it no combusting etc nice taste.
Ive wanted to try bags since seeing volcanos on you tube. But looked for a cheaper and maybe better bargain.
It then came down to h2.2 extreme q and vapir rise.
I have based purchases on the vape critic reviews in the past but he stated he thought extreme q was better than the other two. I was going to get one but decided if I could find good reviews on the herbie I might change my mind. Hence ending up on FC.
I read a lot of the pages on this thread before deciding im going to try the HA.
I picked one up from ebay uk for 100 delivered 4 months old hardly used, this shows.
It was delivered two weeks ago then I went on holiday. While on holiday I read the whole 70 pages of this thread and got quite excited to get back and try this out.
Yesterday armed with some erb and some knowledge from here (solo stems and mflb stems and ssv tubing etc) I decided to give the bags ago.
My findings are not as impressive as id hoped. But then this was the case when I got my first ssv.
Im finding with ground and un ground with new screens in the bottom and the top of the crucible im getting one bag of thin thin vapor and then two bags of hot air. The effect creeps on you and is doing something but being used to clouds from solo and ssv found the ha to be some what lacking. Ive read the thread about big cloud doesnt mean more effect but I do think I might of missed some thing somewhere. With learning the ssv I first went for big coughing clouds and now dial it back for a more comfortable vape. I would like get a big cloudy bag of vapor with ha as shown in the pic from this thread. Ill try and link it.
Could the guys been using the machine for years come with some tips on to get the thick bag of vapor ive seen pics of (without flaming me to hard lol im a newb to the forum community) ground vs unground. Ram the erb down as hard as possible or leave it loose. How full is the crucible suppose to be etc....

Thanks
Btw used the solo stem with and with out ssv tubing on the end with some abv from my ssv and got a hand full of nice solo type clouds so whip direct draw function is fine but not the main reason for getting the ha.

Salutations PlainLazy*,

Although i'm not familiar with the v2.2 details you may want to search for "Leviton" on page 55. At least your input may guide others...

Thanks egzoset for a speedy reply.
While reading through this thread ive seen various pics you have added showing dimmer switches and crazy lookin lab looking creations. Impressive. But Im not looking to add things like this atm. Just a snappy quick guide of how to achieve thick vapor in the bags (I thought I knew how to do this, with an added finer screen in the bottom, ground material, screen on top and a temp of 360-375 maybe 400 at the end)
The pic I incuded was commented on and the guy that posted it stated unground weed was used and no other mods etc....

I want to like this vape so much but early days and am far from throwing in the towel.

Made me laugh but kinda makes sence. Does seem like pump goes too quick for the ha.
Which yourself and others mention. So maybe a new pump or the dimmer device you have mentioned could be a good idea depending on the "wooden peg" mod lol
Ive pinched the tube from the pump and heard a weird clicking noise from the pump but goes away when you let go

I wish I could help but I have only blown 2 bags total since I owned my HA. I usually use it with glass, or just with the silicone whip I added.

One of the biggest supporters of the HA, @MG23, has been MIA lately. Maybe he'll see the tag and respond. I know he has posted pics of filled bags that I assume he had filled. :)

Thanks for that cyberguy appreciated. I hope he comes back to FC to share knowledge.
I had another session with the HA after work today. This time I took the extra screen out from the bottom of the crucible put in a whole nug which filled it by half maybe less after I pushed it down firmly.
Set to 175 or 350 and after green light turned on the pump.
@Egzoset i tried the peg and pinching the pump tubing, peg not strong enough, and pinching unsure if it helped but What resulted was the best bag yet (not as cloudy as mg32's) but a much greyer vapor so maybe. Tasted nice and blew 3-4 clouds. So I thought I'd cracked it and put the bag back on turned the pump on. Next bag instead of being thicker it was thinner. Two weaker clouds. Attached the bag again and nothing. Felt the most vaked from it but still a little underwhelmed. I did try as bag at 400 nothing.
The bud was well brown and right through but I didn't feal this was very efficient. One decent bag with a nug that I would of felt more from in the SSV.
The thread mentions you have to be quick changing bags due to vapor pouring out the teflon mouthpiece when not in use, I haven't experienced that so far.

Your not going to get vapor that thick on 350f, crank it up to at least 380-385. When i used bags on mine I would run them at 400 for thick vapor.

Hi again *PlainLazy*,

...unsure if it helped...

Perhaps it will require some more time to determine your own sweet spot, if that's all it takes. The 2-speed rotary button worked fine for me and hence i didn't care to look back afterwards, as there wasn't much more incentive to tweek airflow any further... Another possible scenario could be to combine mechanical pinching + speed control i suppose.

In any case only the pump can get such an in-line dimmer, exclusively, while the HA v2.1 must not of course.

Good day, have fun!

The HA is being introduced to my friends tonight and they arr quite excited to try bags. Im the vape guy they are the combust crowd but like the vape experience with the ssv. Im trying to convert them. I would like to show them a cloudy bag like mg32's then show that thin vapor can still be effective.
Im hoping tonight with more product and diffrrent products the HA will shine via the bag.
Ill start the HA on 375 and work towards 400 then see what happens.
I got there with the ssv after a while .......
@Egzoset next step would your dimmer plug for the pump but still early days

I want to like this vape

One more thing guys. Do you heat the HA up to temp with the loaded crucible in and mouthpiece on or do you drop the loaded crucible in once up to heat and then put the mouthpiece on? Unsure if would make a difference but thought id ask.

heat the HA up to temp with the loaded crucible in and mouthpiece on
Whether through a whip, or through a bag, I have always done this. My thinking is that I want the load to reach the same temperature level, not drop it in and start blowing bags through flowers that are still room temperature. Less air = more vapour. Others may disagree.

Ok ill give that a try and it makes sence. I just got the impression from reading this thread that vapor comes pouring out the mouthpiece in between hits/bag swaps. I havnt had this. So first few trys I let it heat and then put the crucible in but ill try this way.
Im wondering if the gauzes im using are preventing proper vapor production. They work fine the ssv.
I took the gauze out of the mouthpiece and put two in there (cut down a little) and have put one in bottom of the crucible as advised on this thread. The guy I got it from didnt use any screens and reckons he got milky thick vapor with unground bud around the 180-200 mark.

I always leave the mouthpiece on for warm up and cool down. But I never drop in my load until I am ready to vape it. There is no need to preheat the load.
I also dump the load if I am not going to finish it in a minute or two. I always put a screen on the top of the crucible so I can dump the load just by turning over the HA without spilling anything.
If you are packing your MP rather than using the crucible there is no need to pull an unfinished load because there is no conduction to waste herb, but a MP load is so small you will usually use it up in a couple hits.

Salutations PlainLazy,

...quite excited to try bags. ... ...trying to convert them.

Hummm... For conversion of a former smoker i'd administer the last shot using a pipe just like mine. IMO that should do it, because the respective rituals share little in common, so... That would fill the gap if all else failed. In other words have a "Plan-B", with "B" as in "Butane" - which for smokers will feel just like at home since they're likely to be familiar with the power of fire after all.

15.gif

Bags have great advantages, this hardly makes them perfect substitutes though. When one switches to vaporisation the hands still need to get a role to play into this ritual game, while using bags we're simply sucking each at our own individual conveniences... Not much action happens there as that's nothing like a smoker habit using a pipe, which appears quite appropriate to me for this particular function: "Plan-B"...

:2c:

The thing is i need a "Plan-A" and i used to have one until i started to increasingly need self-humidification, a feature only my pipe will provide, so far.

Anyway be ready if you must convert those sinners! North American missionaries used to finish above a fire only a couple centuries ago!...

4.gif

Ah, and about aroma/taste. I distinctively recall the very 1st time i was almost in panick thinking it would be so yucky each next time! Not knowing though that my fresh PVC tubing would no longer affect me after it went through enough sessions. But it sure triggered my imagination and hence i searched for simpler paths and eventually found mine, but the one below pleases me best, to be honnest:

vaporlungempty.jpg

vaporlungfull.jpg

First of all the young persons would probably comment it has a "ghetto" look, i tend to agree but there's much more to it than meets the eye: NO PUMP and NO EXCESS TUBING... I chose a negative pressure system that still relied on my pump to serve the same purpose, e.g. to remove that (temporarily) yucky hardware, as i was afraid it would taste this bad forever - which it did not, lucky me.

Nonetheless i'm in admiration relatively to The Amazing Vapor Lung because its beauty lies in its most affordable simplicity and convenient solution. So please, PLEASE, promise me your next conversion party makes room for something like it!!

The sinners may find it amusing if not amazing...

I would like to show them a cloudy bag...

Have you realized that half the airflow should also imply a reduction of volume as well? In other words, when experimenting with a pinched tube did you remember to make your bag smaller by pinching (it near the end) as well?...

Additionally, denser (and hence more opaque) bags can be expected to render dosage more variable, which somewhat defeats the main advantage obtained from a balloon system: each person can inhale at their own pace ideally. But if there's a black cloud inside then every cannabic party consumer is likely to loose such a rare ability that's featured with real-time feedback, so to speak... But all participants will choke anyway.

:ko:

It can be fun once in a while but there's much better to seek, aroma & taste for example - and that's when proper humidification can make a difference. My present "Plan-B" gave me plenty of it after my HA was decommissioned... Not to mention pipes and smokers seems a natural association to make.

Ill start the HA on 375 and work towards 400 then see what happens.

Perhaps you may want to start & end a few degrees lower during the initial phase.

I want to like this vape

Then why not consider glass accessories as this unit ain't going anywhere soon IMHO...

...do you drop the loaded crucible in once up to heat and then put the mouthpiece on?

That's a question that evokes little echoes because Arizer's Solo Glass Stems are what i came to prefer after a while...

1z4he10.jpg

j7azif.jpg

...next step would your dimmer plug for the pump...

If you try something such as this then it's important to include a resistive load in parallel, because the pump is built around a large inductance coil essentially, and switching it on or off would generate voltage spikes otherwise. So i'd suggest isolation of the pump + dimmer setup using a separate A.C. "filtered" power bar, not shown on my illustration below:
This particular installation supported many levels and it worked by touch...

...let it heat and then put the crucible in...

Lets take a good look at Herbal-Aire's Heat Exchanger (in a v2.1):

s2w4uh.jpg

Such a metal oven configuration suggests it's not operating in convection mode only so i used to pre-heat my HA and then i plugged my modded glass handle inside once ready.

Im wondering...

It should prove stimulating to experiement with a few things, as long as you don't risk over-sensitizing yourself and/or whatnot, etc.

Good day, have fun!

Me again

@Egzoset ill reply to your last post when im at a computer and not using my phone to post.

So the HA went down well at our weekly wednesday meet.
The guys didnt seem so hung up on thick milky bags as i thought they would and I am.
But had the best session so far with HA in bag mode.
We tried whole nugs, ground and little pieces. I think (only early days) that little pieces and ground is the way to go, I may change my mind later down the learning curve. But getting more consistent results.
And lighting really shows whats in an "empty" bag. Was getting two bags with visible vapor and two with what looked like nothing in but actually had a mist in.
The HA was mocked at the beginning for its strange looks and fish pump but at the end the guys were saying the bag is epic and what a cool little vape.
There was different product around last night which I also thought helped the bag process. I think ive got a average type atm.

Does any have thoughts on fresh product compared to dry as a desert product in the HA? One work better on vapor production than the other?

Im also starting to think chasing the clouds is where im going wrong.
Maybe 350-375 would give 4 bags of a thin mist but 375-400 would give one-two proper thick bag and two- three misty bags so depends on how you want to spread it out. Again im learning it so please dont flame me

Also tried solo stem with ground in the crucible got a couple of little clouds but quite warm so stopped and filled a bag with it so that was ok.
Unsure if direct draw is for me seems harsh and hot. The HA gets fookin hot.
Havnt tried and unsure if I will direct from the mouthpiece that must be proper hot.

Going to try the stock whip soon just see how that goes. I have a ssv whip but will go over the end of solo stem (v unstable for the HA) and not the mouthpiece on top of the HA.
I have a new mflb glass stem that I know fits in the mouthpiece so I might use that with bag fills and also get a mlfb whip. Anyone tried one of those?

Hi again PlainLazy,

...ground is the way to go...

Personally i felt grinded dry cannabis in my HerbalAire accelerated extraction and hence the resulting condensed time-frame rendered my aroma/taste perceptions easier to manage, because its floral hints were made more evident i would say.

:leaf:

...thoughts on fresh product...

Somehow this reminds me of resinous fresh "sampling" which remained a failed/marginal experiment for me as i couldn't improve it significantly unless my green nuggets were left to dry for at least 3 days. Also i vaguely remember it gave me tar hints capable of inducing headaches eventually...

...depends on how you want to spread it out. ... Also tried solo stem with ground in the crucible got a couple of little clouds but quite warm...

Before the Arizer glass accessory period it seemed 365 ~ 185 °F worked nicely for me but then i found that a glass stem has inertia of its own requiring more heat... In any case hot lips discomfort hardly caused me much concern so my guess is i was probably using less lung power (i was after aroma/taste) in combination with an optional mouthpiece interface past that hot glass.

:science:

Unsure if direct draw is for me...

Maybe i was heating faster while inhalations happened to be shorter.
39.gif
Or this could mean the glass stem setup needs additional modding at high temperature.

Well at least i know i did try multiple extensions...

Going to try the stock whip soon just see how that goes.

Gunky, sticky... There's a YouTube video showing how honney accumulates. Which is the main reason why i prefer glass in this specific location of the path.

For more ideas i'd suggest this simple search:

Good day, have fun!

Me again
Thought id have time out to get acquainted with the HA. after reading this thread from start to finish and having members chip in with their ideas and experiences has really helped.

Since last time I was on here I have definitely found my way with this vape and have grown to like it.

It is pretty much my party vape or group vape with the bags.
I have got some nice cloudy bags and some nice potent results.

I think whole buds are better but seem to get better results if you put in smaller buds not a whole big one.
You can get good results with small amounts but the HA seems to work best the more you put in it.
Last week at 350-360 we had 8 consistent cloudy bags and 2 after that were thinner.
I have replaced the stock whip with a mflb one and once the HA has been on and maybe blown a few bags I seem to get nice solo type clouds and works well.

I have bought another mouthpiece and bored it out and am trying to get my bigger extreme q bags working with it.
I think I need a stronger adjustable pump to get it working better.
Bags take an age to fill and arnt very cloudy but still get a little buzz with them.

I have also taken the HA camping and had it running off a generator. Was cool having bags and a vape al fresco.

All in all I like the HA as my bag party vape but my ssv is still my go to vape for me and my girlfriend.

But anyone with no vape should definitely consider this as the first vape.

Next purchase a new pump.
Thanks for all your help guys
