I got a bit of a weird split as well:

Your neurodiverse (Aspie) score: 107 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 118 of 200

I'm quite surprised to see the Social measure so far left. I've always felt uncomfortable with all things "social", but I have friends with social anxiety who feel that I'm much more socially capable. I suppose I tend to draw from a well of faux confidence, leading me to enter social situations that others might avoid, even though I don't have NT communication skills to back it up? I'll have to revisit the questions again later.

On the other, shorter test I scored a 38.
I've never gone for a diagnosis but I've always felt that I relate most to those with Asperger's.

That is awesome! Well rounded. When you took the quiz, were you torn between answering one way or the opposite on a good number of questions? Were you feeling at your "normal mood"? If yes, and you took it again, the shape that resulted would be quite similar to the one you've posted. (Many are taking the quiz, then getting their bearings and taking it again..)

Your Social score is not surprising in relation to how you report discomfort with social situations. You scored decently high on both sides of the spectrum... Look forward to seeing next results!
Have you guys ever heard of walking on tiptoes being an aspergers symptom?
I have. Me and my partner both walk on the sides of our feet or the heels when the floor has crumbs and junk on it.. Is that strange? haha
Yes & Yes!

After my socks are washed, I have to turn each inside out and remove the lint or thread balls... If any are there as I walk, drives me insane!

(Side Note: The story of the Princess and the Pea, in relation to the lint balls in my socks, was the Princess an Aspie? Who knows! hahaha)

I wonder if this is part of why I have such foot issues. Didn't say "yes" to "odd gait", but I suppose, before I went with Vibrams for footwear, I did have a tendency to walk on either tiptoe or on the outside of my foot. Tendency to curl (especially the left) inward, especially when sitting.

Vibrams help a great deal.

This person has a couple more pair than I do... I only have nine pair:

Karma - a tale of giving, receiving, & learning. This was amazing!

So, took family to the beach today. Just before the beach, we always grab a bit to eat, so once we hit the sand anyone who wants to can go off and water play or whatever for a good long time before getting hungry.

Jack in the Box was the concensus. So we ordered and began eating.

I watch people. Today was no different, so I sat eating and watched a kind/old man (I'm guessing 65-70) ordering. Then he stood to wait for his order. While he waited, I saw him straighten up after two kids who messed up the lids for the soda fountain. When his food came, he took the tray over to where the condiments and napkins were. Before he took his napkins, he fixed the napkin holder, then politely took probably just enough napkins to cover lunch. He sits. A 99 cent chicken sandwich in front of him and a cup of water. He begins praying. Not my kind of praying, the old school praying making the sign of the cross many times. Then opens the sandwich. Puts it down, prays again. Several more times.

To watch him eat this sandwich, one would have thought they were watching a gourmet connoisseur eating a prime NYC Philly Cheese-steak sandwich.

I wanted to give something to him. Then a thought. I took a $5 out of my wallet and called my daughter over. I asked her to walk by him, drop it on the floor, turn, pick it up and ask him if it was his... like he dropped it. I wasn't sure what language he spoke and was really hoping not to damage his pride. My daughter asked me if she could borrow $5 when I handed her the money for this gentlemen. I gave it to her, but didn't know what it was for. She combined her $5 with the one I gave her and proceeded as planned.

What happened next, I could not have prayed for a better outcome. She dropped it behind him, picked it up, tapped him on the shoulder and asked him if he dropped it. He said "Are you giving me ten dollars?". Instead of simply saying yes, which probably would have dented his ego, she said "No, you dropped it and I picked it up for you." He looked at her and said "It's mine?". She said yes. He took the money, then took her hand lightly and said thank you, ... a single tear slowly rolled from his right eye. As it did from mine.

We left Jack's, well my wifey, daughter and her friend did, I stayed off to the side watching. I was kinda stuck there... He took his wallet from his back pocket and opened it. From it, he took his money out and straightened it, before adding the $10 we gave him. He had a total of two very worn dollars.

I later told my daughter this, just before letting them go wild at the beach. When the day was over, my daughter approached and said she was sad. I said why. She said because she didn't know how long that just $12 would last him. The only answer I offered.... "Maybe just long enough."

Later on, she came back again and said that that memory was the best she had from the entire day. She's learning well! I was so proud.

So why Karma? My story's not over.

We got to the beach, no parking. We circled the lot 3 times, nothing... we were about to leave when my daughter said, there's a guy waving... sure enough someone had seen us circling and saved their spot for us... Sweet! I'm not done... These are park, then pay parking spots. So out of the car and went to walk to the self-service machine. Two little boys ran up to me.

Excuse me mister, they said. I greeted them and asked if I could help. They said no, then said their mom wanted to know if we'd already paid for parking. I said no and they told me to wait and ran off. So I waited, kind of, unpacking the car... really unsure of what was next. A lady, just about as old as the man we helped at Jack's was walking across the parking lot... Couldn't be their mom, well, it was. She handed me the parking ticket (Which normally costs about $15, dependent on time of day). She handed it to me and said... I always wanted to give my ticket to someone else, we never stay late. I thanked her and took my wallet out, handing her my last $4. I asked if she could get the boys candy or ice cream. She tried not to take it, but I politely told her I was simply buying the rest of her day's parking from her. She accepted with a smile, and turned to the boys. See, this is for your good deed. Let's go get some ice cream. The boys were ecstatic! She turned to me and thanked me again, stating she was teaching the boys about good deeds and Karma.

We put the ticket on the dash and had our day at the beach.

When it was over, we were leaving, an elderly lady was just walking from her car to the self-service pay booth to get a parking ticket. I saw her approach the machine and rolled down my window (we parked right next to the pay machine). I said "Hey, have this one please."... She just looked at me, taking the ticket slowly. When she had it, she looked at me and simply said "Sweeeeeet!"... Yeah, I spelled it that way because she said it that way. Another chance to show a bit of kindness in front of my daughter and her friend.

It really doesn't get better than this! My daughter is NT, but through my teachings, I wish to give her empathy, compassion, caring, and a huge heart!

So far, it's working!
Incredible!!! But I must admit that I do try daily to make this kind of magic happen, with really no expectation of anything in return - only to bask in the wonder & light of the magic. I am a special education teacher, and more important to teaching my SPED kids academics, I teach them to connect with all manner of life. Many come to me so disconnected from anything of this world that I must first do an out-of-orbit space dock with them ...a mind meld if you will. Many are autistic, Aspe, ADD/ADHD, low IQ, and multiply disabled. I seem to be a SPED child whisperer. But above all, I am DEEPLY an animal lover (and I mean that in the deepest sense I can muster). The relationship I have the good fortune and blessing to share with all my animals over the years have been just about the only thing out there that hints for me that there is a loving compassionate God - God shows evidence for me everyday through the boundless unconditional love shared between me and my furry little soul mates. Anyway, I could go on endlessly telling about my animals and their incredible hearts and minds, but must move on at the moment to other things beckoning me. Thanks to DDave for such an incredible thread. And thanks & love to all who post here too!

Hi Snappo, Will definitely take a shot at this request a bit later. For now... What was your state of mind when you took this? Were you "on the fence" answering many of the questions? Could you have answered either way and found it acceptable?

Side Note: When I first saw the shape presented in your chart, I envisioned an angel. Coincidence? ;)

I think my state of mind was pretty even keeled, and questions were answered honestly without much equivocation. Thanks!

Interesting thread, i'm getting into it! I will take the test again today DDave, would you further analyse it for me? I thought about my results all day yesterday and spoke to my partner about it. Aspie traits are very common it seems!

@Snappo, here goes...
First off, skills, you would seem to have many which revolve around the use of your hands or in moving things. Making things happen. When you do so, I imagine the passion you exhibit would cause others to at minimum pay attention (hopefully not stare). You would also seem very apt in figuring out things. Not sure what kind of things, but I'm imagining if you took an interest in something, you would be hard pressed to find another who knew more about the subject matter (on average) than you would.

Your social skills appear to come from non-verbal communications, but not from reading body language or facial expressions, but from "feeling"... Empathy is a poor choice of words here, but it's closest I could come up with for now. This, I believe is strongest for non-human living things.... Animals (Am cheating here, as I know of your love of animals), but also plants. Would you garden, by chance? If so, I would bet successfully?

As others here, you seem to wall off most from the Snappo Inner Circle of Friends, but once there, I believe there's not much you wouldn't do for a friend!

You have a different way of perceiving things around you than others. You can see what is real, but you can also find hidden beauty and wonder as well. (If this is true, is it ever an immediate switch from one to the other? If yes, does mood dictate which is seen or does that which is seen dictate your mood?)

Now a long-shot. You bounce between being "on the wrong planet" and the right one, probably mood dependent but could be situational. Do you ever feel sometimes that everything just clicks... and later on, lose that to a feeling of nothing makes sense?

I would be very interested in comparing charts if you ever chose to retake the quiz!

@DDave - you are quite the "Life Reader"! Right On on all fronts! Point-by-point:
  • I am both visual AND tactile - so working with my hands when coordinated with my eyes (and mind's eye) works to GET THINGS DONE & MAKE THINGS HAPPEN!
  • When feeling passionate about a subject shared with a friend or audience, I DO COMMAND THEIR ATTENTION (some do stare:o).
  • I make it a point not to open my mouth unless I know what I'm talking about, and do tend to be the qualified authority in the room who takes great pride and interest in passing along good information and food for thought. No BS or blowing smoke from my ass just to get attention and approval.
  • While I do believe I have a keen sense for reading face & body language, I process the whole experience and distill it down to the "feeling" level, and view it all through a lens of "empathy" in order to add a good measure of fairness and objectivity. I think I do this also because I'd want the same consideration coming my way. I usually hit the bulls-eye and carry forward the interaction either in the lead position, or as an equal partner arm-in-arm aimed for a common goal. Acquiescing to the authority of another is not my forte. Yes! admittedly, I do have a problem with authority.
  • Animals AND Plants - YES! I feel and relate to them both at the soul level. Gardening is my therapy, and my plants are my close friends which/whom I care deeply about and handle with loving care. And my animals, that's a whole other level of Godliness that only they have shown me.
  • I have fairly good verbal skills, but cherish SILENCE and VIBES! I often teach my students (who seem to thrive on making lots of noise) to listen to the silence in the room when nothing moves or speaks. I focus them then on the profound FEELING of PEACE & TRANQUILITY that only such silence can have on their mind and body. I tell them that silence is the most beautiful sound in the world. To me it is! I think that this is a concept where my young "concrete only" thinkers take their first step into the abstract, and touch "reality" with new eyes & ears.
  • I see and think of things very differently than most others that I am in contact with. My style of humor takes many by surprise and opens their minds into directions they've not taken before. It is my intention to do so in this manner. Much of what I say and do when dealing with others is designed as a tailor-made wake up call to their sleepy way of thinking. I am a teacher after all!
  • My inner circle of friends has always been very small and VERY select. The wall between them and all others is very high and made of granite. Making it from the outside in requires the most secret password. But once your in, your in for good! Anti-social? Most probably!
  • Mood governs EVERYTHING I say, do, and think - mood imprisons me, and frees me - and has its own demanding will that walks me on a leash.
  • YES! Earth is definitely NOT my home planet. Just like in one's own domestic life where comfort rests in the HOME where the mother and wife set the loving tone - Earth for me is just a house with 4 walls and a roof, absent a mother's love.
  • I am somewhat of a control freak, a personal accommodation trait borne from lack of trust and confidence in the intent and competency of others - this is very experience based.
Thank you @DDave! MY shrink and therapist are worthless compared to the treasures you bring! You are among my inner circle!

Since I did that test (and mind you; i've done other similar tests before that have led me to question my mental state in an inwardly non-constructive way) but since I did this test it got me thinking, and I have had it hanging over me at home and work and I was worries that I was undiagnosed with something that may provide insight into myself or help explain a few things about my character and how I operate / my shortcomings, but I just had a nice chat with my partner and she told me that it doesnt matter and that she loves me anyway.

Sometimes it takes something loving like that to make you realise that it doesn't matter anyway (however interesting and intriguing it may be!)

Reminds me of the TV show Derek (which I recommend that you ALL watch ASAP)

Nice sentiment :)
