Vaping with cotton

Thanks to all for this great thread with much good info!

Have been playing with cotton using the tips here and am anxious to try hemp instead.

Can anyone provide a link to a source for hemp fiber? Have found a few with Google, but seems all are out of stock (or the websites are gone).

After looking a little harder (added "degummed" to search - thanks Sticks!), I found one source. An e-vape (nicotine) site, where they sell this as a wicking material.

Small bags of hemp fiber (3"x5" zip bag - about 1oz) for $3 each.

Think 2 or 3 of these bags would be enough to give this a good trial?

Shipping seems to stay at $5.80 for 1 - 3 bags, and trying to make the order worthwhile.

I have one sandwich bag that I've had all year if not longer and I haven't put a dent in it. You will definitely get an idea of it with one bag. That said, if the shipping's the same I would get two or three. I find it to be superior to cotton on a few different levels... texture, strength and taste.

Sorry for the double post...

The site I linked above only takes bitcoins for payment. Not really my thing and can't see buying a fraction of a bitcoin just for this.

So, the search continues. If anyone comes across a place to get some degummed hemp fiber, please post the link. Thanks!

I think I found the place http://hemptopia.com/product/degummed-hemp-fiber. I plan on grabbing some of this to try out with the E-nano I'm waiting on from massdrop.

This is my first post, and pretty excited about becoming an active member here

i use cut hemp bud and leaf when i want to add hash to my stem... i buy hemp tea off amazon legally here.

Hey all,
I have a Plenty vape, and you may have heard, its a bit of a hog. I started thinking of other ways I could keep the herbs in the middle and not spreading around the wide surface area with the liquid pad on top.

And I came up with putting a thin layer of herbs in the middle (just thick enough to cover the screen) and little pure cotton around it with the liquid pad on top. I plan on testing it out sometime this weekend, but I've never used cotton and read that some people use cotton for using concentrates with the Plenty.

I figure this should work the same way. I guess I should use 100% cotton, but does anyone have any other tips?
(I honestly don't want to order any alternatives offline to test this out, but let me know if you think it's worth the extra effort)

How about a simplier question, is it safe if I put some store bought cotton balls with some herb in the Plenty Vaporizer?

Have you considered trying this method with ABV to see if you what you can extract then vape or whatever you'd prefer to do with the reclaim on the hemp fiber. I have tried your method with qtips to clean my glass and whips then threw them in my herbie. The hits are very potent. I ordered some hemp fiber so I'll see how this works as well.

I thought about it but I soak my abv in coconut oil and make brownies from that instead. I did not really like soaking the hemp fiber in alcohol. It only worked ok and just easier to Vape off the hemp fiber than try to extract it out.

I've also tried wiping the inside of my glass accessories and vaping that. It kind if works but I have a hard time getting a whole session out of it.

Using a cotton/hemp fiber filter in the hoses(or mouthpieces) of plug in vaporizers or even bag types to keep hoses more clean and bags?
For example dbv/ssv/volcano/hebalizer/zephyr ion/eq..I want to hear your thoughts.

It will keep them cleaner in the sense that any particulate plant matter that would normally accumulate would get caught by the cotton. It won't make it cleaner as in prevent build-up of reclaim on whips or bags, though. You will also get reclaim that builds up on the cotton, recommended to place in your vaporizing tool and get high as shit off it :nod:

Tight, back when I had my vapor bros hands free particles would always get stuck in reclaim or go right into my mouth especially after using avb.

I disagree. I use hemp fiber filters all the time and it does reduce the build up of reclaim on my glass pieces which would apply to whips/bags if you could put a filter in place. I find that if I use at least two filters (I actually have 3 in my setup) it helps a lot and greatly reduces the film that builds up on my glass. The filters capture all of the "honey" which is worth doing just for the fact that I get a different effect when vaping that reclaim. The filters also make my hits a bit less harsh which is something I am always after.

Not sure if anyone is into rba/RDA and mechanical mods, would be something to use a cotton/hemp fiber filter full of honey as a wick.

I believe that theory as well. Those larger droplets condense off fastest and is that "honey" Has anyone ever tested the THC concentrations and chemical composition of that golden honey that builds up? I suspect it is very high in THC because the effect I get when vaping my hemp fiber filters is more surreal.

Has anyone tried a bit of cheese cloth rolled into a little tube ? I'm thinking of putting some in my Herbie whip for collection. I ordered it on Amazon BTW. "Regency naturals cheesecloth" label says "100% ultra fine natural cotton. Lint free, cotton and that's all- no bleach, no additives".

Will report back

Edit: not enough airflow in the stock whip, might work in a bigger tube though.
