Cory Glass Designs re/incyclers - high function and affordable?

You might want to re-read your post. In my neighborhood, calling someone a whiny bitch IS disrespect, son.

Also, complaining about complaining.
You're right, that came out harsher than I intended. My point stands, however. Y'all are getting way worked up about stuff completely out of your control that is hardly a big deal anyway. You are waiting on an artist working to make something really beautiful just for you. I know waiting for anything sucks, but Jeeze. Look what you will have at the end. I wish I had such small problems...

And besides that, you didn't tell us how the date went last night... ;)

OK, quick on the date: baker lady brought a friend on a c*ckbl0ck maneuver. Rule #1, never bring a wing-man/woman who's better looking than you. Going to hang with her friend next weekend. :)

I think I'm just waiting for him to ship it, but it's kind of hard to tell. :/

The posts I'd most like to see are pics and discussions of function. There's not a lot of pics, we can ask @sasNW for more looks at his super-rig... In terms of function there's not much to say, because every vid I've seen has the perfect vortex.

Maybe we should agree not to post here until someone has gotten their piece from Cory. Would be interesting to see how far back it would fall.

Thanks for your concern, your helpful suggestions, and your kind words in calling me a whiny bitch. If you'd like to read over my comments again you'll see that I'm not waiting for anything to be made, I'm waiting for it to be shipped. Also, it's awesome if $500+ isn't a big deal for you, but I worked hard for that money and it is a big deal to me. Finally, nothing is out of my control. I can file a claim with PayPal to get my money back, but I'm hoping Cory will just ship what he owes before I have to do that.

Anything else you'd like to belittle anyone for? Do you have a dog in this fight or do you just enjoy kicking folks when they're down?

His point remains though, relax everyone. The longer it takes; the better. It means

Adding fuel to the fire man, don't need to retaliate such things.
Let's get this thread back on track. You'll all get your glass, relax.

I am glad that you realized your post was harsh, but I hope you also realize that it was against forum rules. You can't just call members "whiny bitches" and this has earned you a warning point.

Please, let's keep this thread on topic (that is directed at everyone btw).

:peace:

Am I the only one who thinks of glassblowing as a trade rather than an art?
No, but there is glassblowing and there is glassblowing. If you are reproducing the same pieces like adapters or beakers or even simple pieces like the d020 over and over it is more like a technical skill. But unique and worked pieces are something else entirely. It's analogous to comparing a short order cook to a fine French chef. They are both making dinner, but dinner is NOT the same.

Thanks for stopping Operation Mayhem at the gate.

Hey, look!

I just don't get that style of work...

Every individual piece in there looks badass, but together it just kinda looks like an undirected mish mash to me...

Compare it to a nicely worked piece like @sasNW got, where the whole piece flows and feels like it was made with a unified vision, and I just can't see why someone would want the chaos style...

Is there somethin I'm missing here, or is it just a case of me not liking this particular style?

Chaos style is not my cup of tea either. Disgusting really from an artistic perspective.. Unless they all glow in the dark :p

Yah, its crazy the amount of work that piece seems to take. "I used 153 milli chips, 18 tube cane reversals, 21 white tumbled opal stones all ranging from 1-3mm in diameter. Everything has been inlayed inside the glass no outside surface work. Millefiori images are spirals, wig wags, basket weaves , mushrooms, 5 different types of flowers, master yoda star wars, storm trooper , r2d2, batman logo , green lantern logo, dr Seuss cat in the hat, skulls, flying nimbus cloud, chef, Timmy, carman, Kyle and towlie from South Park."

Like damn....
as for if it's my design... your talking to a super minimalist lover... sooooo not my thunder

@sasNW Do you have a time line for when you will actually be receiving your beautiful custom recycler?

I pray that it comes double boxed like it should. On boromarket they have defined a method for shipping glass called "bomb proof" where you can actually receive your orders safely instead of in a envelope

Well damn, this thread sure exploded while I was at the dunes! Took me a second to catch up there

I just sent him a Kik, saying id be happy to pay a few bucks towards a big insured box of packing peanuts. I might just roll over and die if it comes in a broken envelope.... We will see what he says as to whether it's been shipped or not yet. Honestly I'm so busy with life I couldn't care less if it gets here in a week or two, guess I'm with @gigaurora on this one. As long as it shows up intact in the next month I will be very happy

I KIK'd him yesterday, asking if I could pay extra to have the piece bubble-wrapped and then boxed.

The response was typical. Silence. I think that's the 5th unanswered in a row.

I've had a few experiences like this in the instrument building world. I've been "that" guy, and I've dealt with "that guy".

Bottom line for me was if I wanted to continue I had to either
A) up the communication ante to a workable minimum without burning myself out or leaving a bad taste in the mouth of the customer
B) remove myself as the bottle neck from the process and have a wife/girlfriend/friend help on the communication side of things.

It was exhausting dealing with 20 different people at the same time, but when one mouthpiece was communicating to me it was much easier to get straight and understand, as well as get a response back to the customer.

I guess this thread really resonated with me because I understand both sides. When I read about the padded envelope it really hit me that this might be a guy really struggling to keep up or just on the verge of burnout. (Almost a subconscious passive aggressive "here's your order"). Definitely not implying those were anyone's thoughts- just the first thing that crossed my mind.
Sorry if I've bored you with this response- this is just in case it helps Cory out. I'd like to get in line when it's clear how the line works and the shipping gets straightened out.

Sick sick looking and functioning pieces!

rgig, good experience! I have been in that exact situation also so I see where Cory is coming from.

Aside from that though, I am laughing my ass off at work at the people that are still complaining about his lack of communication.. Far out, be patient kids.
