Electrically that's right, but I seriously doubt mechanically it is (too tall). Have you tried to fit the battery into the Solo?

Otherwise, yes, you can solder or otherwise splice the old connector on the new pack. Watch the wire colors (Solo polarity on the connector is 'backwards') but if you do you should be fine. Do one wire at a time, and insulate well, an accidental contact with the PCB under the battery would probably be spectacular, but surely will be fatal.

Good luck.

Fatal as in dead BATTERY, right?

And you are saying to connect red to black?
That's what I just did and plugged her in and no I have a light show going on. Dead when not plugged in.
Battery fits perfect, this isn't working.

Edit:Red to red and black to black like normal works. dafuq you talking about OF?:)

So, I suggest this battery so far. Way cheaper option. I'll let you know if it blows up in my hand or something down the way.

GonGs are awesome! i prefer the solo dry personally but even with a piece like a sherlock the experience is great.

RE: my old solo with the destroyed threading...

seems like teflon tape isn't enough, even if i do a bunch of wraps it'll stay attached for 4-6 insert/removals of the stem even if i'm holding the top in place.

is there any hope for re-threading it without permanently attaching it? basically just making sure i'm not an idiot at teflon tape :)

it keeps threading down all the way near the front but the back pops up always

(obviously this is a failure pic)
That tape looks ripped to crap from getting caught on something.
You must have some burrs on the surface somewhere.
If you can find whats cutting into the tape and sand them off you may have better results.

Also, the main unit can be removed for this process as might make easier to work on. Once on there nicely, there is really is no mandatory reason to undo it again.

You can also put the lid slightly "out of round" by squeezing a little. This will give more bite but it looks like you might be beyond that approach.

All else fails, tape together on the outside with single strip of electrical tape. Or even some decorative sticker of some kind. Look at it as an opportunity to dress it up some...:science:

No, fatal as in shorting the battery to the exposed PCB will no doubt kill the PCB..........

No, I'm absolutely saying not to connect red to black, just the opposite...... "Watch the wire colors (Solo polarity on the connector is 'backwards') but if you do you should be fine." I meant to say exactly what I did. I'm amazed you got away with reverse connecting the battery, most reckless IMO. The (JST) connector used by Arizer is fairly common (I bought mine with pigtails from a supplier for R/C Helicopters and such), the industry standard polarity for the connectors is backwards to what Arizer did for whatever reason. If you were to match colors on the battery when you went to plug it in to the lead from the PCB it would be red to black at the connector.......something you'd likely miss if you were concentrating on plugging the connectors together. If you match the colors you'll be fine, just check. Under no conditions cross connect such things.....ever.

"Watch the wire colors (Solo polarity on the connector is 'backwards') but if you do you should be fine."

Good luck with the pack. How does the capacity compare with the factory one? How many 'no stem step 7 sessions' per charge?

TIA

what are the advantage or disadvantage of using a turbo gong or stem?
Just look on Planetvapes website I copied what it says:
Turbo Option

  • Large Single Bore with a glass rim to hold the required screen
  • micro channel technology
  • multiple air entry points

Just wondering, to anybody who has a solo i pose this question: how much would smoking a stem full on a low temperature like 3-4 smell in a 8x10 room?

Spyguy we don't utter the word smoking around here. We only vape. A hard habit to break, I know. When the Solo first is heating up with fresh herb is when you will smell that smell we have learned to love. Any vaporizer will smell to a certain degree. Some will smell more than others. My Solo smells the least of my four different portables.

If you vaped already prevaped bud, something that still has life left. It would smell less.

My Pinnacle Pro and my Ascent have a stronger oder when heating up. The order doesn't linger. Its nothing compared to smoking.

A 18mm phves GonG is the ticket!
planet vapes is the only place I know to get them unless someone knows another source?

Or you can rig a piece of tubing on the stem the solo comes with to a 18mm tube adapter. (temporary)

GonG's are what one needs in the SOLO WORLD!

Some say it's a Science while others say is an ART?

Hey man! So I'm shopping around for the 18mm GonG and I found this site: http://www.planetvape.ca/pvhegong-high-efficiency-gong.html

They're out of the normal ones, but for $1.50 more I can get one with "turbo"? Does that still work, and if it does, is it better? :)

TheJohnny, That will work fine. The above post I copied what Turbo mentioned from Planetvape website. It's just a more open airflow. It's an open tube with a screen, it has a raised edge so the screen doesn't fall through. I have 2. I couldn't get the 18mm reg. I get anxious I don't want to wait for things.

I would order 2 if financially you're able. Glass shipping is expensive and it's easy to break one. Eventually you're going to need another. When ordering glass adapters, I usually order 2 of everything. It's cheaper shipping 2 together than getting 1 then buying another in a couple of months.

They might be already sold out.:leaf::peace:

Advantage is greater airflow. Disadvantage is greater airflow.

I only use turbo gong (from EpicVape) since they are so cost effective and the quality cannot be matched, they are much thicker than PV's, and I think the adjustable basket screen is amazing. I don't like how a turbo stem works though....too much airflow....using a turbo gong with a water tool is a completely different game. I get awesome thorough even extraction every time.

I love my Solo.

By the way guys, there's a rumor from a trustworthy source who says he/she thinks there may be a new production of Solos coming out soon... :)

Thanks for the heads up, but a statement like that is really nothing more than a rumour unless you have more info? New production? Like a new version? Or just a new batch?

I don't like it. It has a single large hole, and if the screen is not fit propery, you'll lose all the material. I'm using the old stem instead.

HUNTER12,
I've had my solo for a couple of days and I've noticed that the bottom plate is already cracking around the screws! Is this a common problem and is there a fix?

Yes, it is common and yes there's a fix. I think Pipes can sell you the parts?

One so new is strange, did you move the screws or cap? Did you put an o-ring in?

I believe he/she meant a new version, but I can't be sure. We should know within the next few weeks!

I put an o-ring in but I made sure not to tighten it too much. Maybe this was still too much? How do I contact Pipes about a replacement parts? From my understanding replacing this would entail me replacing pretty much the entire inside casing.

My bet is it was the ring. I don't think there has been a report of broken tabs from anyone who hasn't removed/shifted the screws or put a ring in???

PM "Pipes". Either look him up in "Members" and start the conversation from there or search for a post f rom him and do it from there?

Hold still long enough, he may find you........

The fix involves external washers under the screws and a pad for the bottom. You're right, otherwise you're SOL since Arizer doesn't sell the piece and it would be a problem for them to do so since that's the serial numbered bit.

Careful fitting of the ring after the unit is broken in is still suggested. As it was from the start, but that part of the message (be careful putting it in) keeps getting left out........another flaw in 'internet wisdom'.......Al Gore's fault, you know. Same guy that brought you the sage wisdom on Global Warming.....
