From an edible medicinal oil perspective, this is interesting.

Even as a lifelong tinkerer, I'd be inclined to just fuck it and hand over the $250.

But for 100% alcohol extraction? I dunno, what doya think are the advantages?

The Kleen Xtract mentioned earlier totals $108/gallon delivered to NC. Organic, 100% alcohol. I ordered a gallon. Not trying for shatter here but medicinal full extract oil. I'm curious how it will work out.

The Kleen Xtract gallon is $80 and a quart is $24.95. $36.20 shipped. I'm gonna give this a try!

i think i am also going to try this stuff out. i just watched this video on youtube of a customer using kleen xtract. they say to do a frozen soak, just like a normal 190 proof qwet run, but they soak for 10 mins!!! doesnt that seem to be way too long? is it a longer soak because there is zero water in it?

i would like to add that the Kleen Xtract is about the same price as everclear. of course you have to pay for shipping, but if the returns are better then its def worth it. they charge a pretty penny for shipping tho.

no there is still water in it cause its 190. perhaps its simply not agressive to chlorophyll... or they were making a medical concentrate which is often oral and intended for maximum extraction with little regard to dab quality... like RSO

They say it is 200 proof on there website. The people in the vid must have been making edibles tho. They put in the oven at 195 for 10 min after they evaped. It didn't look very clean either which I wouldn't expect after 10 min.

@farscaper that sounds like a great idea! I'm down. I have the flowers, the Capital, and the vac. But no Kleen Xtract juice. I'm ordering Monday we shall see who comes out on top. Only thing I wonder... Will it really be necessary to vac? Do any of you QWISO/QWET runners have any input. @2clicker @herbivore21

Funny little video Kleen Xtract links to on their page ... her shatter was way dark. The alcohol itself looks like a great option for ethanol users though.

cant wait @DieHard! I just ordered capital a bit ago so im holding off on excessive solvent purchases...

so far capital has kept coming out on top for me... we shale see.

@MileHighLife their extract could have simply been from very well cured buds. the last bit of oil I ran was awful dark compared to fresher material runs of the same stuff.

i dont vac my qwet. im usually not concerned with the very small amount of residual ethanol left. my shatter is translucent, flavorful, and potent. i do not really see any reason. i would use this kleen xtract stuff the same way. i use low heat and move air over the dish... and BANG shatter! lol

yep... thats the video i am talking about. they were talking about "dont leave it soaking for longer than 10 mins or it will come out green". and then they pour their wash out and its green as can be. lol

i wonder though... would the 100% alcohol solvent extract less unwanted stuff? would this allow you to soak longer than the norm 3 min qwet soak?

Could someone weigh in on the advantage(s) of the $250 press for edible medical oil? Thanksamillion.

idk about paying 250... although its uses in my mind include the following

press coconut oil out of plant matter for a solvent less soak in coconut oil. try getting it out without a press

pressing alcohol wash out of plant material for quickwash

I think the only alternatives for those would be squeez the filter with at best gloved hands... or a vacuum filter. which a proper one can be had for 30 bucks on amazon but... that pesky pump problem arises... so I see that as being a vastly useful tool in my kitchen... but I dont see me droping 250 for it when a french press does ok.

When making a glycerine tincture, I used a potato ricer from BB&B as a press. I used cheese cloth as a filter. It will probably work with QWET or QWISO, just press into a fine strainer like s 20 micron SS screen.
But do you really want to forcefully squeeze the material. Will that cause extraction of unwanted nasties?

went and got an induction cooktop last night. it is the tits.

prior to that I had a cobbled together vacuum oven?... crock pot on cycle timer with sand bed around chamber in crock... but temps just never would stop climbing or falling... this nuwave2 just sits at 100.

@mvapes I love ur gauge! where did u pick that up? or is that a custom gauge?

@farscaper - if you got the infuser plate now any material works. It gets any tank ive seen get up to temp faster than any other method.

In fact @DieHard - if you got the infuser plate it should have heated up your tank in half the time. Now, after I spray I can set my cooktop to 100 and do my initial purge purge almost instantly in a pryrex bowl.

Without the plate pyrex doesn't work with induction.

Funny, I know how induction works, that post was a joke. BUT I had never seen the infuser adaptor thingy before so the joke is on me.
