Discontinued Thermovape Cera

My cera will be on it's way back to TET for yet another rebuild. This is the fourth time now in a few months, and it's very annoying.
I just had used the EO core for the first time, seeing the incredible results, I can't wait to use it again. One thing that I noticed right away is that the stainless steel EO core scratched the ceramic mouthpiece, leaving black marks behind. They would not come off. I will try again when I get the cera back. Maby that's why they provide the other mouthpiece..
To the people who don't want to experience a delay with email responses, just call. Z usually picks up everytime.(sometimes emails I've sent we're never responded to.)
He was surprised as I was and said 4 rma requests was very rare. Only once did I get a 'report card' stating that actual repairs were made, but I just hope this time it's permanently fixed.
First time I was never told what was fixed or what was wrog with it. Second time I sent it in I was told the copper strap failed, rebuilt. Third time core failed along with the body,(metal ring at the base came off, core died)and now the fourth time in pretty sure it's the body again.
The copper strap looks crumpled by the metal ring. Towards the bottom. Sloppy previous repair?
Guess I just have bad luck? Sigh. Least they'll fix it. A wonderful simple yet so intricate device. I'm not giving up on thermovape, now that iv seen for myself the EO cores potential. It's a beast.
Time to bring out the pax.. -_-

Must have been a bug when I went to edit the first post it came up blank . That's why the double post .
Now if I can just remember what I said .

Something is definitely off because I just load .1 at a time with great results. Never did the "base" thing either but I usually have great luck without running into problems and things working the way they should.

What are you putting in there ?

Bummer. Hard to test after they're loaded......

Crumbly wax should do fine if it passes the foil test. For a while I was using a LOT of very nice SD wax from the local dispensary. It had some residue and fouled slowly, but was just lovely to vape. I didn't mind loosing the occasional .25 grams in cleaning.

I will try the foil test one my remaining shatter and the crumby cbd wax and try some before cleaning if it passes .
I don't mind loosing the occasional .25 grams in cleaning bur not .25 out of every .50

Very tough call, but if it's contaminated concentrate putting good stuff in on top is 'throwing good money after bad' as they say. And a third of a gram will get us back to the original 'not really enough for serious sessions point?

And what about @llamaman001's post above ?

Sorry to be too cryptic, WT is Water Tool. Some sort of water pipe. The Cera top is designed to mate up with the standard (14 and 18mm) connector sizes. The water takes some of the harshness out, cools the vapor and traps some of the waxes and junk. Small ones are often called 'bubblers', there's a cheap glass thread worth reading, the "F Bomb" and "Pinnacle Water Tool" are also common favorites. I kinda like this guy:
http://www.pipesdaddy.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=VP-0022

OF
I thought that was what you meant . I actually got it working with my bong 18mm for a couple of the hits I got and it was great . I was even thinking about getting a blubber . But can't afford to if I am wasting all this wax

And as I said the quality is so inconsistent. I can't get the same thing form day to day and cant tell the quality until I have bought it . Kind of a catch 22 .

Good luck getting it sorted out. I have confidence they will make it right.

No way did the SS scratch the Zirconia, the numbers are all wrong for that. Zirconia (and therefore scratches) are white, right? What you're looking at is a couple of atomic layers of metal scraped off the SS, now badly oxidized. You can usually scrub it off with 'Scotchbrite' pads, that's what's used at TV.

I wouldn't put anything on the lack of 'report cards' in the past, it's a brand new practice......started at our request earlier this year

Great. As I said before, normally cleaning is not a big issue (given clean concentrate going in, it all 'vapes away'). I was thinking while running errands you might consider boiling out and trying to recover the concentrate? I see no reason not to try?

My take on using it as a load as you go vape is 'it's yours, do what you want'. That's not how it's designed to work. If that's the idea I'd change the ceramic to non porous at the least. It's designed to hold and dispense something between half and a full gram at a time, and will do so amazingly well in the right conditions. Otherwise, I agree with him agreeing with me, something is not right here, I think perhaps concentrate.

One thing you can't get around in the end is this is not magic. If a guy tells you he loaded .1 grams and got 30 tasty, fat hits from it you might reflect that means .003 grams per hit, maybe 2mg of THC? My tolerance is fairly low, but I wouldn't expect such a hit to register....do you?

I'm going to test some wax later and try a little before I clean it out .
Going to have to find the instructions to reclaim , I,m sure they are in this thread somewhere .

This is one of the main reasons I went with the Cera . I need something that I can fill up and leave for a while as I have a nerve problem with my right hand that makes working it small stuff almost impossible sometimes. I guess I just need a source for clean concentrates (Hear that all you LA people !)

I agree everyone is different and things are going to work different for everyone especially in the case of MMJ . And unfortunately I don't have any local vaping friends to bounce things off .... fortunately I have this place .

AND @OF Thanks for all you thought and time on this and on this whole board you are greatly appreciated .... and so are all the rest of you !

Well, she is here and Cera proves to be a fickle mistress. She's my first vape experience and it will certainly take getting used to, not only the taste and high resulting from Cera LL use, (so different from spliffs...vape taste seem to be so much smoother in comparison to smoke, as is the high it produces), but getting those decent clouds too.

I found herb easier to work with (and surprisingly nice tasting) so I will master Cera using ground herb, before I switch back to my solid hash.

Do the same principals (loading minimal quantity for good vaperesult) apply to LL as EO? I think I was too careful loading it up, as my experience were similar to FUnhouse. (Albeit his were with EO) Two good clouds, great taste and then close to nothing. Packed the chamber only half, guess that's not enough?

Guess I'll be buying a scale to weigh the loads next time... so I can reproduce exact loads and thus practice and adjust my technique. All advice welcome.
Taste wise when using the basic technique, nothing beats a bed of bud, topped up with pollen. This mix can also help when trying to produce vapour, as the difference between the two differing vaporising temperatures provides a marker to aim for. Good luck with your experimentation. Don`t forget any reclaimable material can still be used in a joint, so you can have the best of both worlds.

Thanks, I am feeling more comfortable already, but try not to rush it. I am still adjusting to the different high this vaping gives, so I can properly say if I produce good results or not. I love the spicy herbal taste it produces , clouds or not, it is scintillating. Nice suggestion on the remaining material to be used again., will do .

Looking to purchase a grinder, preferably titanium, that grinds really fine and will take solid hash too. Any suggestions?

Santa Cruz Shredder seems to be a favorite around these parts. We have a grinder thread over here http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/herb-grinders.15/ Start on the last 20 pages or so since those are more relevant.

I'm looking for a hard case (slim) to fit my Thermovape Cera and maybe one extra cartridge.
Thinking something along the lines of the aluminum case TV released a couple years ago for the Ultra.
I know since the Cera is thicker than the Ultra the case would have to be bigger, just looking for suggestions.

Just got my cera back for the fourth, and hopefully final time. It works great and it's great to have it back, I did receive a 'report card' this time, which makes a total of 2 out of 4 times.guess I found that detail significant because I got the first report card but not the second or third time.
It was the copper strap at the base.. As I guessed sloppy work from the previous repair, the turn around time was quick though. Glad to have it once again.
One comment worth mentioning is that I noticed the EO core left marks on the ceramic mouthpiece, and iv tried boiling, soaking in ISO, scrubbing with 'scotch brite' pads in an attempt to remove the stains. No luck, at all.
According to OF, the stains are, "atomic layers of metal scraped off the SS, now badly oxidized." I guess they burned onto the ceramic? It's not a huge issue for me, although it does look ugly. I just wanted to mention it for the people who might be concerned about the marks when heated up using the LL Core, as it tends to be on the hot side

Yup, this is the one I use:

Plenty of room, foam to prevent rattles, air tight and tough as all get out.

It's important that should your Sherpa stomp on it, or carelessly lets it fall into a deep crevasse your Cera, extra batteries, carts and stash are all secure.

Great Scott!
Something that confuses me is the rebuild for luna. Does this mean if I buy just the luna body I can't just swap the cera EO cart onto it?

I'm planning on getting myself a luna body when the dispensaries open here. I figure access to concentrates more easily will shift my usage to them more. I've been REALLY enjoying my EO lately. A much better experience after having it rebuilt. I think I originally used sub par concentrate or something.

It is my understanding that with the Luna the tolerances are extremely small. Because of this the carts have to be adjusted to fit YOUR luna, every one will be slightly different. If you buy carts at the same time as purchasing the Luna they will be adjusted to fit each other at that time

If you buy the Luna on it's own and want your existing carts fitted to it then the Luna and your carts have to be sent to TV for adjustment. It should be a one time deal as far as I understand. I hope this makes sense the way I am explaining it.

what doesn't make sense is that they offer two devices, using the same battery; but they don't interchange without a rebuild. Also doesn't make sense why they never post on the forums anymore.. I don't feel very abandoned on other threads around here.

I forgot to add that(IIRC) once your carts are fitted to your Luna, you will be able to swap them back and forth from your Cera and Luna as you please(3.7v carts anyways). That is my understanding anyways, as I don't currently have a Luna I can't confirm this but I am sure someone else in here could tell us.

You know, we've been through this several times. I get it you feel betrayed and all, but the cores changed from 510 threads to accommodate the larger cart (insulation) bringing us to Cera. T1 package had to change because of the 'demands' we made. We demanded bigger batteries for longer life, that meant a new body. We then demanded a side switch which put new demands on where the cart ends up. In Cera the battery spring simply moves the battery up and down as needed. But with Luna, if you want the button to go through a small hole in the side wall and can't have a spring above the switch that's what you end up with.

IMO basically all the 'betrayals' guys like to point to are the result of things we asked for. TV was quite happy making the old stuff, but we insisted on 'better'.

Yes, true rumor.

How are you getting on ? Just like to say my Cera`s back to producing vapour again after her little spell on the naughty step. Hopefully I`ve got the technique sussed this time round ! My grinder for pollen doesn`t have sharks teeth but has lots of smooth stakes that crush rather than cuts into the material, turning even quite oily hash into powder effortlessly.

Hey Everyone!!
I have good news for any fellow Cera owners who are interested in a Nibbler/Bubbler mouthpiece for there Cera EO. I cant confirm it will fit a LL cart due to never owning a LL cartridge but I imagine if there identical in size it will work wonders!

I spoke with G from w9tech.com about the Nibbler he made to work with the Cera/Luna and told me if we get together for a group buy 10+ people for $100 each we can get these bad boys produced!!

PM if your interested and ill get a list started ASAP!

Hello all,

I was a happy Cera user until a month ago when it stopped working. The core no longer heats up but just sparks occasionally.

I have two batteries, both fully charged. I checked the cable that runs along the side, seems ok (and the fact that it sparks must mean there is a connection).

I called Thermo Essence and the automated message said to send an e-mail to sales@thermovape.com. I sent that on June 1st and haven't received a reply. I called and left a message asking them to call me back (two weeks ago), still nothing.

How do I get a hold of them? I'm not accustomed to this kind of behaviour so I'm unsure how to proceed. Should I contact every department with a human until I get someone who can process this?

Edit: After some playing (holding the button down and letting it spark), it started working again for like half a bowl, but it's now back to not working no matter how long I hold the button (also tried different positions), though I do see the occasional spark :(

I have made a few of these, I really wish there was a way to make one with a carb
That wouldn't leak Water. It's really hard to clear the chamber after letting off of the button.
@masaki I am Interested in the 8 with cera threading. Any way you can talk to G about producing a few of those?

Hi, new [used] Cera (LL) owner here. Been a long time log vaper. 1 or more questions:

Is there a 'on time' duration I should avoid; ie 20s? 30s? 60s? I've only hit it twice; actually just put a freshly charged [used] battery into it. I've been taking long, slow, sustained draws and getting vapor (i feel it; the effects of thc working), but i'm not really seeing much vapor, nor feeling much (as I normally feel it with my MZ). My tongue is def burnt a bit from the last hit...so I know i'm pulling hot air through...am i just pulling too hard and cooling the bowl too much? I will try the 'puff' method next go.

I have the bowl ~1/2 full in its packed state; is packing suggested? I leave my stems loose 90% of the time (depends on the strain and dryness; and then only when i'm using the water tool), does loose/not packed work for the Cera?

Are there any videos of this in action, I have been using my Persei-SR-71 combo again(Cera EO carts due for a rebuild). How many takers so far? It seems like these type of bubblers would have a better seal on Cera.? Please keep us updated on this thread.
