I am thinking about purchasing a MFLB. For those of you that already own one about how much herb would you say it takes to fill the trench? I know this can very for each person. But if you were to grind up your herb and then fill it level to the top edge of the trench, about how much herb would it take? I was assuming probably about half of what you would put in a pin joint.

1/8 teaspoon won't fill it level but it's not far away.

I've found using a fraction of even that small amount is amazingly effective; sometimes I'll put 1/3 of the 1/8 of well ground product and it's good for several hits. And it browns it all up so nice.

I just ordered a new LB and wow it works so much better. My old one probably got beat up during the learning curve. Best advice, read and follow the directions that come with the unit.

I think I will wait until Monday to place my order since orders place over the weekend usually do not get processed until the following business day. Thank you to everyone for your replies. I am looking forward to using the Launch Box for my portable vape needs.

I hate how some people view anybody that smokes (and vape) the herb as lazy and stupid. Hopefully things will be different in the coming years.

B.,
I had my buddy up this weekend, who I haven't seen in months. He had only tried vapor from a vapir one, thought it sucked, and never tried vapor again. He was able to try all of my vaporizers and he thought each one was awesome. This time, he said he actually felt like he finally got it. He claims vapor gives him "space brain", and he loves it.
When I asked him which one was his favorite, he said he loved the "little guy" (my LB finally has a name) the most. It just goes to show the universal appeal of this little box. My fav is my WDZ, but I am soooo glad I own this "little guy".

Keep in mind that a big load is going to require a good bit of stirring, to get it all exposed to the screen. Small loads are going to be more efficient.

I've heard that more than a few times. I wonder how many people Vapir has turned off to vapor?

Aside from its other attributes, I think one reason smokers would take to this vape is that it's so easy to 'go hot'.

Hopefully you can help me, I think I am having problems drawing through my LB too. I usually use it native (without any stems) and recently everything just seems more difficult. However, if I use the shortest stem with it, it seems better but still not 100%. Was that your problem? I didn't email magicflight yet tho. How long did you have your LB for?

Aside from this, everything else about the LB is awesome!

I couldn't draw on mine at all really. I bought two at the same time, so I was able to compare with one that worked as designed(perfectly). The defective one was all but completely blocked to begin with - it didn't clog over time.

So this afternoon I did a battery burn cleaning(where you leave the battery in for a couple of minutes) of my screen. The rods that run along the upper ridge of the trench had become well encased in a black, hard crust and needed a cleaining badly. Upon heating, it gave off a good deal of vapor, and not wanting to let it go to waste I inhaled it for 2 or 3 minutes. It was wispy vapor, and it was a little hard to tell exactly what effect it had, as I was already pretty vaked, and I took down a MZ stem shortly after, but it definitely did something. Next time I'll do it from a baseline to see the genuine effect.

Anyway, after a few minutes of heating and inhaling, the hard, crusty coating became pliable and was easily removed. I balled it up, maybe half the size of a pea. It's goin in the rainy day fund, I figure it's like a little pebble of thc, it's bound to do something.

Anyone else have experience with this?

Tom-

Oh man, kinda embarrassing. Probably 2 or 3 months. I brush it out regularly and keep the screen clean, but the crust on the rods become resistant to the brush quite a while ago.

I want to be clear that performance was in no way hindered, wanting to clean it was purely an aesthetic thing.

I was curious how often you guys do a battery burn, after how much use? I use my LB on a daily basis, several trenches a day, and my LB's screen really needs a good cleaning. I have done a few battery burns, but the battery gets so hot, I pull it after about 45 seconds. I never draw an empty trench....should I be, and would it help the battery burn do a better job cleaning the screen?

I saw some where, back a few hundred pages, ( I know, I'm exaggerating :p ) that it was ok to put 2-3 drops of alcohol on the screen before the battery burn. Has anyone had any experience with this yet? I have not done it yet, but I'm thinking my screen really needs it.

I appreciate any help you can offer. :)

Yeah i've had mine for about a month and a half and i do see some darkening along the top edges of the trench, on the long sides, in addition to an overall brown tint to the bottom of the trench, but really thats to be expected. I brush mine out after every bowl and haven't had any accidental combustion or anything. I've yet to do the bit with leaving a battery in to clean it because it doesnt feel like it's clogged or anything. As B. said, it doesnt effect performance.

Anyways, I learned something new tonight. Well, actually a few (dozen by now maybe) pages back someone mentioned hitting the LB like a pipe, taking in quick draws with small puffs of air in between, and having it work well for them. I tried doing a little bit of that tonight. My LB runs a bit cool IMO, so to hit it soft enough to get a good hit i have to hit really slow and its like holding your breath for 20 seconds or so. So i started taking in some fresh air every 3-5 seconds out of the corner of my mouth, and not only did this make the long hits easier for me to do, it also produced a much nicer and more even hits.

So whereas before i was blowing out hits that were like... a thin wisp of vapor at the tail end of nothing, now i exhale and it's a fine, even mist, like a thinner version of the hits off my dbv, which is very acceptable. I think by taking in the tiny split-second puffs of air from the side of your mouth, or by quickly pulling the LB away from your mouth (not as subtle), you're letting the temp build back up to what it was b4 you started sucking air across it.

For some ppl, your LB might run too hot already, so dont try this. Most ppl it seems can simply slow their hits if theyre not getting enough. but for those with a cool-running LB like me no matter how slow you hit it, and/or people who have trouble hitting it slow enough to get a hit because of health or time restraints, give this a go. Do it just once or twice during a hit and see if you end up with a thicker more satisfying hit in less time. If you dont, try doing it more frequently or take longer pauses, just increase slowly and keep an eye on the color of your herb and shake it up good between hits to avoid burning. My ABV is much less green now days too, closer to my dbvs, but still not black, so thats always good :D.

I find the battery burn(BB) method is best as a pre cleaning move...Heating the screen for an extended period of time loosens any debris, and it makes the rod crust easy to work with. I use the dull side of a paring knife to very delicately scrape off the crust while the battery is attached, and then I remove the battery and brush out the box. How clean you want to keep your box is up to you. Even at its dirtiest I never noticed an impact on performance.

As far as hitting it when doing the BB, I think it would actually hinder it, because I think it's all about heating the screen, and drawing cools the screen. However, it seems like vapor is produced, so hitting it may be nice.

I think my screen got too hot against the rods, that's where the major separation took place- my replacement came super-fast and works brilliantly, I'll just keep an eye on the rods to see if the screen seems to be problematically "vaporized" again where they make contact...

I agree. I have found that if I try to hit the LB too hard, I almost create a suction and can't hit at all. If I draw slow with a few puffs of air (that "sipping" action that was mentioned), I get much better hits. I've also noticed that I don't see any noticeable vapor with the first couple of fresh hits, especially if the herb has just been through the grinder. Vapor is more noticeable with the last few hits. I'm not combusting, but the herb has browned slightly by then and has a more "burnt" taste. :2c:

Hey, great thread here almost read all of it...:brow:

I too have had my wonderful, life saving, fantasticly small and discreet, best thing in the whole world ever... MFLB for about 3 months now, vape every day and now im noticing some build up on the shoulders and down on the bottom of the trench.

Just like B. i've done a BB and used a dull blade to scrape it off (i just ate it lol). It came up really well but the only thing is now my herb now sticks to the bottom of the trench! I find the finer it is the more it sticks! A bit annoying when your going mobile!

I read about the ISO cleaning method - would cleaning it this way solve this problem anyone know? Or is BB the way to go (oh no loss of performance here either:) )

Vape on brothers (and sisters)...:ko:
