lol @ Skeleton and cat like reflexes :)

You guys are super helpful, thanks. Perhaps, like mom mentioned, I've probably had some light combustion. I didn't think the slightly thicker vapor and popcorn taste (like one's reached the end of a bowl) were indicative of combustion, because the vapor is just thicker not smoke like, but I DO have some black in my ABV. At one point I take my abv out to crush it and then repack, this makes some of the ABV powder-like, this powder does get black with me, the bigger pieces in the ABV never do only this powder type duff does-- not all of it but some in almost every trench. So who knows, perhaps it is combustion. I was hoping the thicker vapor was just me getting the draw right. Perhaps not. It is difficult to tell though. Tdavie mentioned getting thicker clouds when letting the battery sit for a little longer, that is exactly when I get the thicker vapor (no harshness at all), no cherry reddening :o, but perhaps the black ABV is indicative of some combustion..?

I never imagined though that one actually combust enough to get ash. wow. that's gotta suck!

case: i'm trying to figure out a way for less air in my inhalation and more vapor. I let the battery sit without drawing for about 2-5 seconds (depends) and then draw while letting the batt sit for about 5-15 seconds, depending again. i am drawing very slow (though by the end of the draw I am fucking sucking it like a madman cuz i like that whole venturi effect thing :D plus I think it helps cool things down faster if I let the batt sit for too long). the vapor to air ratio is low even when i don't pull for much longer after i've removed the battery. if this ratio could be increased, this little box would be much more effective i think.

i am really liking this little guy tho, it's nifty. it definitely has its uses and I'm gonna keep using this thing exclusively till i learn the technique right & proper!

is there a set date for the home adapter to come out?
There have been some internal issues which have come up and which are pending. We are expecting to release these soon -- within a few weeks, but no new exact date has been set. (We had been planning on releasing them Nov 2nd, but that obviously has not happened). It is our aim to have these available for the holiday season for sure.

MagicFlight, I've been checking this site and yours every day hoping to hear good news.
Are you any closer to releasing the power module than you were in October?
What's the word? Hate to be a bother but it's been a while now???
Or am i just...............

Hello! Magicflight you still out there? I know you hate to answer this question, but I for one am still wondering. Any response, other than 'we're working on it'.

Hi - Vaporizers Direct here. We just picked up our first order of launch box kits for resale, and have been pleasantly surprised. These things work right out of the box. NO messing around; they just work! I have been amazed by the simplicity of the unit and that it provides decent vapor with just a few simple parts! I saw your video request: We'll be posting some videos soon at www.launchboxvaporizer.com . It's exciting to see innovation like this in the industry; next: flying cars!

Way to go magic flight!

Mod note: You've posted your launch box status in the Retailer Announcement thread. That's the one and only place for reseller announcements and any other posts that could be considered as advertising.

I think an A/C adapter defeats the purpose of this vaporizer. If I want to be tied to a wall, I can always use my Vapor Warez.

Some people use nothing but this model. I can see where saving batteries and having a reliable source of power could be attractive.

yeah give them some time, wow.

MF is very dilligent and responsive here. If they had anything new to tell us dont you think they would? come on.....

obelisk - if you are looking for less air wait a little longer before drawing. i think that will help. Ive never had that issue with the box, i misunderstood you. youll get it with some practice i hope

I didn't think about that, makes sense. :)

Right now, the LB is my main vaporizer, and I have been fine using just batteries, so far. I do have 4 batteries, though, and I never need more than 2 per day.

Hi,

The Power adapter is pending the receipt of certain parts that are out of stock, and have been overdue since December. We were supposed to get them on March 8th, but our supplier slipped that date and we still do not have them. From the time we receive the part until ship is at least three weeks to actually build the units -- everything else is on hand and available already.

Rather than remain dependent on one supplier for that part (of which there are no more anywhere in the world (grrrr!)), we started a redesign effort to use different/other components back in February. Unfortunately, the designer we contracted has turned out to be somewhat unscheduled. Everyone we talk to who knows the guy remains adamant that he is one of the best designers available for this specific type of component anywhere on the west coast -- we simply cannot hire more experienced. Unfortunately, with the very best, the person is more like an artist and easily distracted. Everyone wants his attention and we have not been able to get him to commit to a completion time for even well established milestone tests. Its been frustrating, to say the least. The next step for our part is to attempt to redesign ourselves using yet another contracted designer, if we are able to find one. Perhaps some of our existing relationships will come through for us in the meantime.

Someone earlier asked about the Light in the Box -- it is an all glass design, and can take the heat just fine.

cool MF...thanks for that update....Makes me appreciate the power adapter even more so....Greatness cannot be rushed ;)

I for one have no issues waiting even another year or whatever if its done right...keep it up! I have high hopes for the power adapter and am very excited about purchasing one, until then these 8 batteries suffice no problem

B., cherry? What cherry? :brow:

If you are talking about the LED, it may be wise to minimize the combustion. :|

The "cherry" may be plastic encased......

Hopefully not.
Cherry, like the glowing red end of a cigarette or an ember. The glow of fire. Definitely not the LED.

Remember back when we were still smoking pipes? You'd light the bowl, pull the lighter away, and the bowl would be glowing red? That is what i've seen in my box when I combust.

Also, here's my simple coconut oil method

:) Thank you Magicflight, I figured it was something like that, it's good to know. I have no doubt MF is doing their level-headed best to make this happen.

To the rest; sorry to have bothered you. I did not mean to interrupt your endless thread on battery life, and the highly intellectual conversations on vaporizer efficiency. Please excuse my impudence to repeat the question. Simply put.........

Peace, learn to coexsist.

take your own advice and learn to coexist. theyre a company. they do us a favor by even being on these forums. (nevermind the level of involvement they have shown on here)

when they have something to sell they'll tell you, like any other product from any other company. asking the same question within a 24 hours period is useless. if youve read through this thread you know theyve been more than happy to answer any questions that anyone may have in great detail.

Thanks for your input too caseball. Do you have any idea who started this thread? They did, it is most assuredly in their best interest to monitor this thread, go to page 1 post 1, they kind of do need to be here, it's their thread!
I've only asked 3 questions of MF, this is the first time they have answered me directly, that's why I repeated myself. I know they are very busy, their business is growing, I know I've done my part to help., but sometimes you have to get their attention. Read my post.
Now, once again without the frivolity, I apologize to anyone I've offended, my sense of humor is all my own. But I have been here for the whole thread.
Now cheer up................

I don't know about you guys, but I'm extremely happy to be using my box again. For the past week I read posts about new users familiarizing themselves and falling in love with it. I had an unexpected physical exam that I had 1 week notice to pass :brow:

We'll see if 1 week of no vapor from the LB and plenty of green tea helped me pass...I'm just happy she's back now ....yay! and I don't know how the weather is where everyone is, but Canada is blessed this year...the weather has been blissful!

My LB has been producing some pretty unsatisfactory hits lately, very thin and barely visible, if at all. I've also noticed the LED doesnt light up a steady bright like it used to, even with fully charged batteries. I have to wiggle it a lot to get it to light up bright and sometimes i can't get it to be bright before i start seeing vapor coming out the hole, and since i dont want to burn it while i fiddle with the battery, i start hitting it at that point. The vapor i see coming out the hole b4 hits doesnt seem as thick or noticeable either. It still gets me there but it takes a lot longer.

I started leaving the battery in a bit longer and that seems to help sometimes, but that still gives me only a partially visible hit that doesnt taste so good. Like, when I exhale the hit there will be nothing visible until the very end i'll see a tiny bit or vice versa. It's as if i'm getting some vapor at the beginning of the hit but the rest of it is mostly air. I tried hitting it even slower but it felt like i was just holding my breath because of how slow the intake was and i got light-headed. I tried taking in quick breaths of air (out of the corner of my mouth or nose) while hitting it slow so that i didnt feel like i was going to pass out, but that didnt help much.

I'm starting to wonder if there's something wrong with my batteries or maybe my LB doesnt get hot enough. Both batteries produce the same results though. I wish i was near someone else with a LB so i could compare performance. I'm hitting mine so slow that the hits are 20+ seconds and I still dont fill my lungs up completely.

After about 8+ hits I can dump the trench out and load it in my DBV and get 3-4 solid thick hits out of the herb at a pretty medium temp (12 oclock). 1 of those hits from the DBV feel/look like more vapor than all the hits from the LB combined. I got diff herb this week but it isnt wet or anything, grinds just as fine, vapes the same as most everythign else in my dbv.

your experiences sound similar to mine. I am not worried about vapor clouds tho (less vapor on exhale makes me feel more efficient, irrespective of whether that is a reality or not) but I would like a 'thicker' hit, like you seem to. I can let the battery sit and produce some thicker vapor, but at the expense of taste-- in fact it is possible that I am either at combustion or very close to combustion with the thicker hits that I am able to generate (still not sure about that one!).

Like you said, this thing does hit me, but it's a slow process. And, subsequently, a different high. I'm beginning to think maybe that is a good thing, so it has both plusses and minuses. I can get higher quick with those thicker hits, but, like I said, the taste is pretty bad/popcorny and I'm not sure if I'm combusting. It would be great to learn how to get these thicker hits properly though, because then this box becomes very versatile-- slow, thin hits over a period of time if you want to get high and read a book or something for example or the thicker stuff if you just wanna get stoned. That would be pretty sweet.

That sucks. I don't think it should be doing that. I always see visible vapor with a fresh battery, and I always feel it after 2-3 hits. I'd contact Magic Flight and ask them.

Well just got done vaping a trench and i'm not quite sure what to think.

The first hit was delicious and fairly visible, but still not very thick. The 2nd and third hits were a bit thinner but they got me to where i needed to be so i set it down for a half hour or so. I came back to it and put the battery in and wiggled it hard and the light lit up bright right away almost, took my hit and couldnt fuckin' hold it in it was so huge  i think its the biggest hit i've ever got from this thing. I had to check and make sure nothing combusted or something because of how much thicker it was.

I have no idea what i did differently. I think the problem must just be with the battery or the contact points. I look in the hole and can see that some of the copper coating on wires has been worn down to shiney silver. As i said b4, i have to wiggle it a lot to get it to light up bright, and even when i get it there, if i let go of the battery or apply pressure at a different angle it gets dim again sometimes. So i think that even when i was able to get the LED lit brightly before i had to start hitting, sometimes it would go dim as soon as i take my eye off it and start hitting it, i just wasnt able to tell because the LED isnt visible while hitting. I think this time it kept a good solid contact throughout the hit and thats what resulted in such a nice cloud. The fix might be as easy as bending the circular wire in a bit so that it grips the sides of the battery tighter, because i can't really see the problem being with the positive contact point at the bottom of the cavity. i'm not going to try it until i'm sure thats it though.

now, for some more testing... :brow:
