Are you referring to my combustion events,
or @toros23's observed 20 degree temperature variance between models?
I can't tell who you're responding to here!
Sorry the temp difference that is controlled by the CPU and the chamber combustion thing to tight no cyclonic action happening to move the heat through the herb chamber and evenly vape the herb and have a uniform abv.

Hey, I'm new to the forums and about to get an herbalizer. What do you mean the units are 30 degrees off from each other? Do you mean that If both are set at 370˚F, then one will be near that temp, while the other could be 340˚F or 400˚F? This is really concerning.

I would not let this stop you from getting one. I couldn't be happier and have owned mine since December. It is really interesting, when I bought my first Herbalizer I figured I was going to like 380F based on previous vapes. However, I ended up liking 420F and have ran it mostly at that temp with the same rotation of meds since late December. Well... I just got my new Herbie last week and tried it at 420 out of the gate and got a really big surprise. Very strong/thick vapor and my ABV ended up much darker than ever before. I ended up having to go down below 380 to get exact same vapor and effect and the ABV is back where it has always been. It is funny, I always wondered why my ABV never got that dark, even when running at 445F.

Again, would not let this concern you. The Herbie team will make it right, I just happen to have one of the first 5 produced and I think the temp might be calibrated a little low. Still works like a champ for me and everyone who has ever tried it.

I wasn't going to post this for fear of turning anyone off on the Herbalizer, but when I saw grokit post I thought it might be important to share.

edit - nevermind..

My ABV isn't getting very dark either. I didn't think anything about it because I'm new to using the Herbie.

Am curious to see if any who've combusted with Herbie have also tried to discover the Easter Egg?

Maybe a recalibration or reset was accidentally triggered, throwing out the original proper calibration done at Herbalizer.

From the picture of combustion, that bowl is really full! Especially since I've noticed that the product shrinks as it's being vaped.

Just throwing a few random ideas in the mix.

I've not triggered a combustion event, even with max temp hitting through a water tool till the product was spent. Have never gone over 1/2 bowl of product though.

;)

I searched a little, but not much because it was pointed out to me shortly thereafter ;)
I didn't noticed any change in temperature so I don't think I accidentally reset the firmware.

Mine is an early model, and seems to be one of the units that doesn't generally get the abv that brown on maximum. With a bit of continuous coaxing with the fan on (like when blowing up a balloon), I have been able to get it to a medium-dark but not the spent coffee ground color that I'd like as others have said.

This leads me to believe it's more about the flash of light that is accompanied by a momentary whiff of fan to maintain temperature, providing kind of a self-dousing flash combustion.

The bowl is only filled to the lower rim, it gets wider before it hits the top rim so there's still quite a bit of room for more material if I was really trying to cram it in. I just poured it in there pretty loosely so there was a lot of air in there which could have been a factor. I don't think the amount contributed for a couple of reasons, one being that the temp was only set to 420f, bumped from 390 which leads me back to the flash combustion theory, and two because it's normal for me to fill to this level. Also I've never combusted with this size bowl at 445f; it's happening when I pause and come back at 420, could just be a coincidence.

I'm not that surprised by a combustion event especially if there are a lot of flowers as heat will build up in the center and with a lot of flowers heat will not diffuse equally and combust in the middle. It's most likely due to a longer than normal pause in between draws which allows the flowers to become hotter as it continually absorbs the heat being outputted from the halogen bulb. A hole in my theory is that it makes no sense that it is not occuring at higher temperatures unless your time between draws is much longer at 420. Also, I doubt that every unit is temperature calibrated as this is usually a difficult thing to do although at the asking price, they probably should/could/or do.

I've had combustion events in the Arizer EQ. I know it is no herbalizer. I am too poor to have a herbalizer so I haven't had a chance to have a combustion event yet. I still plan on getting one unless some other great thing comes out before I can save up the dollars for it.

One other thing that bothers me about the herbalizer company - I feel like they really don't stand behind their product. It seems they are confident that it's better than the volcano with their pricing but being a relative upstart and having not taken over the market segment yet, they should have better guarantees. Like a 60 day money back/satisfaction guarantee like the minivap and a 5 year manufacturing guarantee - completely standard and the ability to have affordable replacement/repairs (for that 10000 hour halogen bulb). The volcano has withstood the standard of time and I know of people whose classic model is still running well after almost a decade of regular use. Even my arizer EQ has been working well after almost daily usage with over 1 lb of flowers used through it. The pax has a 10 yr guarantee though mine broke after a little bit. The Herbie's 2 years seems pitifully small with such an expensive unit. And it's a shame that only the limited edition has that 5 year quality guarantee.

I appreciate your thoughts re combustion, @Girlwithamasterplan, welcome to the forum :)

I agree that the bowl of flowers could be somehow super-insulating the center of the load, contributing to this really rare issue of mine. It's still a fantastic vaporizer, and I hope you get to try it out someday.

I think that there's another way to approach a volcano comparison, and that is for the same price as a volcano you get a much more compact and versatile unit. The volcano fills bags faster, but takes much longer to heat up initially. And obviously the volcano is a one-trick pony, even if it does that trick really well.

Also the volcano warranty is three years, so on this level the herbie is quite comparable :2c:

I discovered Easter Egg... and never combusted.
I'm sure that's possible... just curious if there is a reset or trigger of the calibration routine via the user-accessible buttons on these units. If so, maybe some seeking the Egg would trigger by accident.

I was in on the Massdrop event for the Herbalizer, which has just gotten its 8th subscriber this morning, which seals the deal at $599. I am a little anxious at the amount of money I have spent in the last several weeks between this, a new portable (Haze), an F-bomb and water tool adapters for my ascent. All told I have spent like a grand.

I honestly wasn't looking for a desktop vape at this time, but given the great reviews I've seen on youtube, and the lowered price, I jumped in without much forethought. However, the way I see it, this will likely be a quality investment.

I will strive to read through the thread in its entirety, but that will probably take a little time. If there are any highlights that anyone wants to point out I would certainly welcome them. Does this unit require any little mods or tweaks or does it function pretty much perfectly right out of the box?

I've never used a desktop vape before, my current vapes are the DaVinci Ascent and the Flowermate. Are there major differences that I should be preparing for?

Honestly, it works great out of box! If you're at all sensitive to vapor, you may wish to watch the later postings for how others have managed to interface to water tools...

@grokit -- what I can't figure out is how the top of the load is scorching when it is the side away from the heat. any way you can dump that bowl out while holding it in place with a piece of paper so you can see what the bottom of the load looks like? It looks like my LSV and Lotus loads when I go a little too far...not quite combustion, but more scorching than I want. But in those vapes the side away from the heat is not scorched.

I just got my Herbie this morning lol:rofl:

Very nice unit I thought it would be bigger I didn't expect it to be so small the bowl and everything is very nice and well put together and ya I do agree the lid is a bit flimsy and not as solid as the rest of the unit.
Beside that its awesome but I haven't tried it yet but I will lol.
I turned it on and man the heater is like bam to temp a little hum and on temp wow, I actually put the heat up and down and put the fan on to see what kind of heat comes out and wow consistant heat streaming out of this thing with no variation in how it felt, nice.
I might have to go to the compassion club this afternoon to get some high grade meds:ko:
I have some oil but not enough so I think I'll go for a drive today.
I do have some meds but not a high grade herb so I kinda want to try it with some other meds the herb I have is alright but I want to try some different strains.
I guess if I use the herbie with the meds I have it would extract it the goodness even if it ain't top grade herb.
Well anyway I'm going to get on this herbalizer and test it out and then I'll get back to the forum but I'm very excited.
Cheers, medical mark:wave:

The top screen I was using could have some into play here, but I don't believe I was using one the first (and only other) time this happened, months ago. When I dumped it, the load was much more evenly spent that it looked like on top. There was a few black and green (and a few more) dark brown specks, but for the most part the abv was just was slightly darker than usual with a balloon (but quite a bit darker than with normal whip usage). I think this recent event was less of a combustion that it was the first time around. I believe that I was using the same bubbler and the result was much more objectionable then, more like full combustion but still not quite like when it happens with my lotus. This last time I hardly even needed to change the water in the bubbler, but I was using a hemp filter so that may have helped in this respect.

Why don't you just put it on a concentrate pad and vape it that way?

The hemp filter and extra screen combined may be the reason. The filter alone might cause heat to build up from the lower airflow and the second screen might have acted as a heat sink. A third screen in the Extreme Q sometimes caused combustion when used that way too.

So literally, just take a like a paperclip, scrape all of it out, put it on a pad and go for it at 445*? Am I going to be impressed with the results?

im not so sure. the pad was made to go in the aromatherapy bit. if you put it in the magnetic bowl you will see it doesn't fit the exact diameter of the bowl. this means air will go around more easily than through the pad with your oils on it. you need to fill the void space for this to work better.

personally, I just vape my herbs with a dab placed in the middle of it if i want that kind of thing. herbs, a dab, and more herbs put on top of that.

You don't have to put all of it on the concentrate pad. You can save some for later. I only need a tiny bit of wax when I'm vaping on the concentrate pad.

You can go all the way up to 445F, but you can get good vapor at lower temperatures too. I wouldn't go lower than 400F, though.

It was my understanding that the concentrate pads provided by Herbalizer are to be used for both aromatherpy and vaportherapy. I've been using them solely for vaportherapy since I got my Herbalizer. Am I mistaken?

Hello Guys, i live in France and an american friend of me is just arriving today at my home, with its herbie !
Our main problem is that we don't have any baloons (only the whip) and we are big fan of baloons !

So my question is : can i order a pack of 4 baloons and send it to someone here, who live in the US ?
(Because herbalizer company don't ship anything outside US). After that , i send to that person, via Paypal, the amount of money for the shipment to France (+ 10$ for bonus) and you just have to send the pack in France !

If you think you can help me, please PM me !!! Thanks !!!!
