Actually, the PTFE tape goes in the threaded area only. Wrap a few turns on the male part and try it for fit. Wrap 'with the threads (CW from the open end) so it stays put as it's threaded together. No adhesive. Keep it tight, especially the last turn. Most guy tear it off rather than messing with cutting.

A hard reset would have also happened when you substituted batteries, right? It didn't fix it then? I'm still kind of lost as to what might have been happening.......you're confident the battery you substituted was good? The one from this Solo ran the other one fine?

OF

Thanks for the pointers. I've clearly worked with PTFE tape very much in the past :p:lol:

Also yeah i thought a hard reset should have occurred after removing the battery and turning it on with just the charger. I haven't inspected the PCB to find out what components are what but I wouldn't be surprised if something got stuck in RAM and never got cleared. Even if you hold down both buttons for a long time the Solo starts back up really fast. If a "hard reset" actually exists and my theory on it being garbage in the memory is accurate, then plugging in a PA is the only way I know how to trigger it.

I'm confident both batteries are fine. Not only did I use both battery packs in my known good Solo and let it get a couple cycles in and recharge, this Solo always acted the same way up until I gave it the ol' shock of its life with the 9V power adapter without any battery. As soon as I plugged it in and it reset it was able to heat. (i figured the PA might do it since it does a longer reset when you hook it up with PA voltage for some reason?)

It is a bit of a mystery how it broke how it did, but at least getting it to do a "full reset" (if that's what it even is when you plug in a PA) seemed to have solved whatever messed it up?

Either way, time to vaporize!
I have some GDP and some BLUE DREAM!
I've been using my stock stems more and my PVHES less. weird!

Happy 4th Soloists. Enjoying the evening of festivities with some Alaskan Thunderfuck (Matanuska Tundra) a very good high level Indica. The Solo brings out the taste of pine and it has a good sedating effect for evening right before bed. I am using heat Level 3, then 4. Level 5 seems too hot for this.

This is just one COLA of DUTCH CRUNCH (Day Time). So the Alaska Thunder is for night?

SaaWeeeeet !
At 1st glance , I thought it was just a Bud .
Until I saw the Solo as a size reference .
So I put my Solo on the coffee table , and positioned the Solo at the bend
of my elbow . That Cola is longer than my freakin arm !

It looks like it's going to be a Good Shatter Day .
I've been hearing these glowing reviews of wrapping concentrates
with cotton . I had to give it a try . I couldn't find any 100 % organic
cotton balls , so I tore of strands from Q-tips and made one .

I like to use a little less cotton, a little whispier, and a little less oil personally. Due to my recent useage patterns I've been able to sit down and vape oil with my Solo at a desk with water. I ended up making a little "tophat" screen like how the No2 uses. I pack my stem, which sits on my bubbler, and then place a small dab of oil on the screen, and press that down on top of the packed stem. No flowers or oil touch the heater since it's inverted and the oil doesn't bubble since the screen breaks surface tension/bubbling and I have a small space between the "bottom" of the screen and the rim of the stem. I'm not sure how well it would work like that using it dry, maybe have to hit it once or twice to get the oil to melt down into the flower a bit. I really like the oil cottons for on-the-go when I don't want to take my oil pen. Looks like some great shatter too

I've been making like an herb and wax sandwich. I have some Purple Berry Kush wax. The herb absorbs the wax, so no mess afterward. I can vape in the Solo 2 - 10 min sessions. The ABV gets pretty dark, almost black.

I usually start off at heat level 5 and go up to 6 and sometimes 7. I've also been using the D020 Bubbler with the Solo and the herb/wax sandwich late before bed. If using the Bubbler I can only get. 1 - 10 min session, but I usually go to high temps quicker. Not much to save for edibles after that.

That will work I use less cotton.
@Caligula made a video of this method.
8 colas and plenty of SHATTER.
That was a tiny one!

I personally enjoy the taste of the flowers. I don't like the taste of wax. So for me mixing the two works better. I'm not much of an alcohol drinker, but when I do I mix some soda, cola or root beer to mask the taste of the booze. Kinda the same thing. Except alcohol flairs up my pain I've realized.

I get the medicinal herb with no side effects.

So it finally happened. I got another solo ... because one just wasn't enough
I'm noticing a few differences between my older model ad this new one mainly regarding the battery. The older one has centizens battery(the most powerful one he offers )
It puts out a lot more heat than the stock batt which equals larger clouds/less flavor.i forgot how tasty the solo can be ! On the first half stèm in the new solo I got so much flavor. I'm very much a vaping through water kinda guy however it was nice to lay back and sip on some delicious blue dream.

Hey guys! I'm new to posting on FC (longtime observer, love this forum) and I hope this isn't too far off the previous string of posts but I was wondering what everyone's favourite Solo mod/trick/add-on was.

Mine is the vapor lung, thus far! It's like a cheap bag-alternative for the Solo that works really well and is pretty f**king easy to make, too. I've also been experimenting with a make-shift whip (silicon tubing pushed into the end of one of Ed's stems) with a CamelBak mouthpiece (not sure how effective it is, but I use it when pumping 7's long and slow). The stealth trick is a classic, too! One of the main reasons (aside from the vapor quality) I got the Solo/and a second Solo.

Peace from Oz, y'all! :D

I'm very glad you're happy with your Solo(s), but there's absolutely no way that the battery has anything to do with temperature. None. As long as it meets minimum standards, all that can possibly change is the "duty cycle" (percentage of on time). This is a temperature regulated system. Temperature is controlled by reading the actual temperature and adjusting the heater to correct errors. Same your home furnace where, with the same thermostat (heat) setting, a bigger one only heats the cold house faster, it doesn't make it any hotter in the end. Once it shuts off, just like in the Solo, by definition you're at the temperature yo asked for.

Swap the batteries and see.

Any difference has to be somewhere else. Replacing an otherwise working battery (dead ones are different of course) in the hopes of "a lot more heat" is a waste of time and money. That's not how science works.

Is mtf actually still around? My understanding was that it is under super tight wraps

I bought the above herb mentioned from a trusted friend not a dispensary. I am thrilled with it.

My Solo is working like a champ. I don't notice any difference in the temp with my two Solos. The main noticeable difference is the ease of the draw with the newer model and the performance of the battery. The newer model is around 6 weeks old. I'm still getting around 8 - 10 min sessions before I need to charge the battery. I don't fully charge to a solid green, it's still blinking when I take it off the charger.

OF suggested to take the unit off the charger before a solid green battery charge. This helps to preserve the battery so it lasts longer.

Welcome lemmeadem, You will find that FC is a very helpful site. The folks especially on the Solo thread are big fans of the Solo. We want your experience to be as wonderful as ours.

A woods stem is a great start for adding to your Solo arsenal. Eds a great guy so we encourage folks to get their wood assess from Ed, he's also very talented. He makes some beautiful pieces.

FCer Snappo has some beautiful wood blanks that can be made into wood assessories or possibly a wood log vaporizer.

I would think a PVHES glass stem from Planetvape and gong would be in order, only if you feel you need it. With the improved airflow some folks may not need one. Also FCer VapedandConfused sells custom glass pieces. Look under vaping Assessories in the sub threads. It's been difficult at times to get a glass gong for the Solo through Planetvape because they sell out so fast (popular product). I hear Vapedandcondused have the gongs for the Solo if you need one.

You also might want a water tool. I have the pinnacle pro water tool and a D020 bubbler, it works fantastic, I highly recommend one. I bought it at DHgate online. With shipping only $30. For me just the right size, not too big.

The Solo in my opinion is one of the top portable vapes on the market, you've made a wise choice.

The difference your seeing might be that 3 isn't the same 3 on the new ones. I could be wrong but when I was trying my friends newer solo it seemed like he needed to use 4 to get decent vapor, verses my solo starts vaping around 3. This could lead to a feeling of flavor difference but you should be able to just go lower temp on your older solo to compensate

I really feel similarly about the vapor quality in the older models.

This is why I have two ancient models and one new one I guess. I thought I would limit myself at two but I'm finding myself wanting to maintain all three I currently own ;)

Even if you match the temperature levels I still think the old ones just generated more heat. They take longer to get to temp but when it hits 4 you can actually start hitting on the old ones. On the new ones you have to have it a minuet after getting up to temp to hit it.

I too sense a difference in performance, but it's not 'more heat' in the normal sense. That is at least on the new one I bought to play with the actual temperature in the load seems to be basically the same as before. My thinking is the sensor has been move in the new design (probably bringing it closer to the source rather than load). This effects the indication (and way the Solo controls power to regulate temperature). I too find it needs extra time to 'soak in' sometimes.

While both work OK, I personally prefer the originals too I think. I'm not a huge fan of the increased airflow, and that effects my opinion of course. I also favor the older PA mode over 'use while you charge', again personal calls.

Newer is not always better, I give you "New Coke" as an example?

Well @OF, I actually thought the same thing about the sensor being closer in the newer models given the way they seem to regulate their temperatures.

If you thought it and I thought it then it must be true ;)

And another fan of PA solo over charge while vape. I like to baby my batteries.

Once the newer model fully heats up (after 3 or 4 min). I don't notice that much difference in the heat temps, anyway with the models I have. The newer models heat temp goes down a temp light for the first 4 or 4 draws. But after that, it seems to hold its heat. I'm not an iron lung kinda person either, so I'm sure that makes a difference. Some of you lung busters out there may have different results than myself.

Correct me please if I'm out of line!
I have the older model I vaporize with all the time. The 113 seal and a PHVES is the perfect airflow for me.
The new one scares me because I have to learn all over again just when I figured out what I like!
Maybe next year some time I will get the new model however I like this one one I have so much I really don't see the point in getting the new model just yet! The 113 seal is a must! FYI!
I love the air flow with my current unit!

Yup. You know what they say 'two great minds and but a single thought'.......

Then again, I used to work with this otherwise pretty quiet Polish fellow. One day a couple of us we laughing about that, he asked 'what's so funny'? When we told him he laughed himself red in the face before saying, 'things are different back home'......one of his Grandmother's favorite quotes is "fools seldom differ".

I like the first one better, although I agree the other has merit as well.

Correct me please if I'm out of line!

I'm sure not gonna try to tell an Hombre who thinks he's happy he's not! It's the rare fellow who knows what he wants, is happy to get it and turns his efforts to enjoyment and spreading the good word.. The young should draw near and grow wise.
