Dr. told me I should quit

Careful with the low-t medications. I work in mass tort law firm and we're currently getting lots of leads from men who used low-t medication and now are suffering really bad side effects and want to sue the pants off the drug manufactures.

Yup. The baby-boomer wonder drug. Gimme some T so I can be young again. Lots of bad things can happen when you start to fuck with mother nature.

I just wanted to give a little follow up on my experience with doctors. It was quite shocking to have my MD bust me. She said that I shouldn't worry about insurance or the man because of HIPAA.
someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure that HIPAA allows insurance companies to have full access to all of your medical records. :borg:

this is just an anecdotal datapoint about a 66 year old male ... i had some concern about low T, due to lackluster libido. i added about 15 minutes of muscle development to my daily exercise routine and without a doubt, my T is higher now. A natural boost. and the improved body is a nice benefit.

Firstly, ask your Endocrinologist what this little known fact has to do with you specifically?

Secondly, request links to the relevant studies.

....& lastly inform him of the well known fact that medical practitioners have traditionally pulled "facts" out of their ass when it comes to Marijuana.

A good question for your Endocrinologist. Whatever the answer, be sure to ask what evidence(specific to your case) is supporting his conclusion?
This is a great response. In fact, more specifically, ask the endocrinologist if you have a testosterone deficiency/if this has even been tested to be established?

It does sound like you do though, or no doctor would recommend you start taking T. I have a large number of lady friends who became male friends (transgender male) and T is very well known to have all kinds of side effects. A doctor would be completely remiss to prescribe T without due testing that this was deficient in the first place, or being used for gender transition surgery.

I am familiar with gynomastia, in the context of my abnormal psychology education (learning to diagnose mental illnesses as well as the onset and etiology of such things). The significance of this was that gynomastia can be a condition which itself causes depression, anxiety and poor body image.

Please be aware, my colleagues and friends are psychologists/psychiatrists/medical doctors/sociologists of medicine. Those who practice with patients are very quick to admit that in the context of medical/mental illness, the second a patient mentions cannabis use, the practitioner instantly starts thinking of it as a possible cause of symptoms. Many even fail to realise that this may be self medication, or even recognise that cannabis can be used as a medication at all!

Remember, mainstream medicine education has not yet caught up with the literature on this topic, a body of which is still burgeoning. We should not be surprised if doctors often have old-fashioned ideas in relation to cannabis in the medical context.

My depression has kept me inactive. Therefore low t due to surfing couch. I am trying a new anti depression drug which seems to be giving me more energy. It will be nice if I could get more exercise and hopefully cure my low to problem. The swelling is mostly gone and I only stopped talking testosterone. So that kind of takes pot out of the equation.

Oh I'm 46.......not trying to be a teenager! I just don't like feeling like I'm 90!

As an aside, I'm at year 16 of a chronic depressive disorder. I have found THC Bomb shatter to be absolutely life changing in this regard. If you live somewhere where you can get it, feel free to give this a try! :)

Remember, this is an anecdotal success, please do not take my recommendation here as being scientific advise.

Sounds like staying inside definitely is playing a role there my friend, I hope you can get out of the house a bit more super soon!

It does not sound like cannabis is a specific concern here, but a general one that since you mentioned it, the doctors now have. Do with that advise what you will, but honestly, ask another doctor who is better versed in MMJ literature if possible. I am often scared to give more advice than that, and I have some training in related therapeutic practices. These are all great people here, but please be extra careful when it comes to your health!

:peace:

Do you think that means they do or don't give your health records to your insurance company? I'm no expert on HIPAA, and I honestly haven't read that entire site, but my understanding is that HIPAA rules define how doctors and "business entities" such as insurance companies (amongst others) are required to keep your records safe and secure--HIPAA's not about stopping MDs from giving your info to insurance companies. HIPAA *might* stop them from reporting you to law enforcement. Maybe.

There's an inexpensive supplement called dhea, it's the natural testosterone precursor that your body manufactures. Like with the scripts I would make sure to test and see if this is actually your issue, and it's a very good bet that it has less side-effects than the testosterone-boosting scripts.

I'm just mentioning it because it hasn't been brought up yet, and can be a safer alternative.

All those side effects are even better treated by not taking Seroquel.

I know cannabis is something of a miracle cureall, but I didn't realise it covered Tardive Dyskinesia or sudden cardiac death.

You need to scroll all the way down for the full list of side effects, then keep going till you get to the lawsuits, the faked studies, the payouts & the off-label selling ....the fact that AstraZeneca(7th-largest pharmaceutical company = bottomless legal pockets) have been unable to remove this negative information from the interent....speaks volumes!

WOW! She did it again. I just called and told her that I was stopping my meds because they are giving me constipation like big time. I have been plugged up sense I started this stuff three weeks ago. Her answer....wait for it.....wait for it.....I think the meds are interacting with your recreational habit!.......................WOW! MY HEAD BLEW OFF! I kept cool and told her that I wish I never told her that I smoked! I said I have been doing this for years and never had this problem.......WOW I am pissed. This is my anti depressant. One of the side effects is constipation! Not constipation if using weed! I feel let down once again by modern medicine.

I've thought of leveling with my reg doctor about how cannabis helps me. But it's stories like this is why I don't. I had to go to a physician I didn't know to get cert for mmj. It was a natraupath not a doctor. It doesn't make any sense.:hmm:

One of the best solutions is a product called natural calm, it's actually good for you unlike laxatives.

t-dub, My mom had a problem once with terrible constipation
and they had to go in and relieve the problem. I don't want to scare you or
anything. It sounds like you've been through a lot already.

EDIT: Glad you're not having any problems.

I went to an Endocrinologist and he told me its a little known fact that marijuana causes low testosterone. In turn that can cause depression. So the question is, did marijuana cause my problems or are they helping me get through them? It's the chicken or the egg question. I can't eat without my mmj so without it I would be worse off. Or I should listen to the Dr. and quit. What do you guys think? Have you ever heard this before?
If it's a medical fact, it would not be little known.

Get a new doctor.
