I was going to post this the other day and I, believe it or not, completely forgot!

If you like Morricone soundtracks, you might like this one... especially the second half...

And here's one that belongs in Game of Thrones:

If you like your music with a big dose of Tex-Mex, you can't get much more soulful or mournful or beautiful than Calexico.

I'm starting to wonder if you've been snooping around my album collection, @Seren !

Got really into Mercury Rev after I became obsessed with Sparklehorse and Grandaddy and The Flaming Lips.

One of the finest albums I've ever heard. Raw, sensitive, weird, and real.

Might I suggest a melodic relaxing song like. Cortez the killer by Neil young. There is a 20 plus minute version with pearl jam on YouTube. My fav.

In case you don't know van Etten, this is a female musician who was mentally abused time and again by her domineering ex-boyfriend, made to feel like a talentless hack and a parasite who needed him, and then when she finally emerged from this scarred cocoon with the help of friends and family, she made the most heartfelt and wrenching music.

(I'm a music journalist, and as such I get involved in all the stories that I personally find very interesting... I feel they add resonance and depth to what I'm listening to - I tend to get carried away about sharing this stuff though so if you guys think they're boring, let me know and I'll just post videos!)
