I was hitting this thing last night and looking at it without the lid down. you know, the functional space needed by this unit makes it not much bigger than the old VM3 portable vape. I'll bet they could eventually work this technology into a sweet portable!

Ya good stuff man, my herbie should be here I hope Friday but with my luck and Canada post it will most likely get here on Monday along with monthly cannabis grown by my chosen producer here in canada under the new guidelines I can't grow anymore so I wait.
Jorji 19.1. % THC +/- 2% never tried this strain but I'm sure its good in the herbie.
I do have some oil about a gram so I'll be good to go when my her steer gets here.
Ill be able to try it with herbs and oils so I'll be able give it a good break in to understand how it functions and works for me.
Everyone has different needs and I guess ill have to figure out how the herbie works for me and my condition.

Cheers medical mark

So my herbie came last night like it was supposed to! After one night of using it, I am indeed happy I bought it (despite note getting to use it for dabs yet, given I ran out). But as for the rest, I was certainly pleased in many senses. I do have some questions/issues. Things I can definitely assume people have brought up throughout, but still curious.

I knew coming into it that the lid would be surprisingly low quality compared to the rest of the unit, but damn indeed. What's concerning me more though is that it remains slightly open and never fully shuts. We're talking a milimeter or two but it's still annoying. Also I do have concerns as to how that would affect arromatherapy mode. Someone, or the herbie dudes, are going to make better quality lids at some point, yeah? Seems doable.

The rubber parts around the bowl are already sloughing off and becoming mishappen after a few uses and twists. Can anything be done beyond trying to make something myself (which I think I now understand I saw some other people do). The same is true for the whip staying on (it doesn't stay on very easily, and I am worried about how hot it gets).

And yeah, the whip is starting to get pretty hot. The last time I had a whip vape (box style vape) the whip was so close to the heating element it actually melted (there was a little glass separator piece, but it wasn't big enough, I had to get a longer one). I believe I've seen some photos of people with weird glass things attached but I wasn't sure if it was for that or other reasons. Anyway, what should I do? Is this one of the potential accessories that Vapeworld might be working on?

There has been much talk of the fan and how it turns on randomly. That's fine I guess, it isn't so much annoying (well, it kind of is), but what I don't specifically like is that when I'm in whip mode and it does that, it releases unintentional little puffs of smoke. I take it this is just something I'm going to have to put up with? I just wish it didn't take mini hits off it for me (at least, that's what it feels like it's doing :p ) .

I was surprised at how much I liked the bags! I figured they would definitely be inferior to the volcano ones (well, we'll see how they hold up and how replacing them is). I definitely like that the stock bags aren't as loud. They definitely need to come out with an XL sized one though, as my tolerance has already caught up with those and I need like, three herbie bags, to really get toasted :p .

Anything else I should know? Any control tricks? Regular tricks? Things I should watch out for?

P.S. Also I really wish the power cord wasn't so white and gaudy :p .

Regarding the whip, I don't think you need to worry about it melting or anything. Yes, it can get hot to the touch after using the unit for a while, but it's medical grade silicone, which is rated to 500 degrees F if I recall correctly.

Try pushing the end of the whip back a little bit so more of the bowl connector piece is exposed. This will allow you to achieve a perfect seal and the whip will not slip out anymore. I had trouble with this when I first got my unit.

You will just have to live with the fan pulses pushing out tiny bits of vapor throughout the session. I think the loss is negligible, and it doesn't bother me too much because the Herbalizer is already extremely efficient when it comes to extraction. However, you could remove the bowl between hits if it bothers you that much.

Enjoy!

I remove the bowl between hits to handle my obsessiveness about the vapor being pushed out with the fan. But it really is negligible. The only vapor escaping is that left in the whip after your hit. If you remove the bowl and clear it, then put the bowl back on, no vapor will be lost.

I used some concentrates for the first time on the pads last night. Like everyone else said, it keeps hitting forever! This is the most convection I can achieve with concentrates that I know of.

The "coolgrip" rubber piece on the top part of my bowl from the first time I used it has been slipping off when I go to remove the bowl. I was just about to email the Herbie people to see if there is anything that can be done about it. I was tempted to glue the damn thing onto the bowl piece but I don't want glue around there and I don't want it to be permanently stuck on. Would love find a good hack that will keep it on firm and have no negative side effect.

The rubber heat guards on the bowl have a certain spot on which to sit. You can feel them kinda lock into place when you turn them around the bowl. If you're worried about the vapor escaping with the fan pulses, put your thumb over the end of the whip or pull the bowl off between hits. If you'd like more stability with the whip/bowl connection, put a piece of high temp tubing over it to help hold it on. Enjoy!

Don't know if this applies directly, but I remove as follows and black silicon heat guards remain in place.

Remove whip from bowl.
Pull back on top of bowl , towards me just enough to break magnetic seal.
Then grab black heat guards and remove bowl from Herbie.

That way I don't stretch or put any stress on the heat guards.

@DDave I do the same!
@Madcap79 Do you do the opposite once you load the bowl and put it back on Herbie?

I do this so that magnetic force doesn't slam the bowl onto Herbie. Those are some strong magnets and there's no way I'd risk either loosening the magnet from the bowl or loosening some other internal component as a result of this repeated impact.

Yessir, pretty much do the the reverse of the removal.

Yeah I agree, the cool grip piece does come loose occasionally when removing the bowl, but really no big deal IMO. I've found that if you grip it tightly when removing the bowl it won't come loose. Like I said no big deal, but The Herbalizer crew might want to think about slightly reducing the diameter of the cool grip pieces to get a tighter fit.

Yup. I think that is pretty much the "Official" way of removing the bowl by pulling at the top to break the magnetic force at an angle.

That way you are only touching the cool-grips when you open and close the bowl.

I love Herbie too!!

Yeah, the concentrate pad is awesome! I like how your concentrate just melts into the pad and disappears with no messiness at all. I found the taste to be very good through the whip as well. Of course, Herbie is no oil rig it's more of a take your time leisurely session maybe 10 minutes or so, but Herbie packs a punch that's for sure.

As to flowers, what I like about Herbie is there is never a need to stir. I don't know about you guys, but I hate Vapes where you have to open the bowl and mix herb around and invariably some herb falls out or you burn your finger or some bullshit. Not so with The Herbalizer, just a quick shake of the bowl maybe two times during a session and you're good. With Herbie my ABV is always uniformly browned indicating full extraction.

Like Sir James Bond, I prefer my Herbie shaken not stirred just like my martinis!!

I filled my first balloon this afternoon. I have never had vapor from a balloon before, so I wanted to be able to say I've done it. I'm so glad I did! I used to have an Herbalaire, but I donated it, and I never used the balloon feature, just with my PWT.

All I can say is wow! I had to force myself to finish the bag, for obvious reasons. By the time I was finished, I was so medicated that I lost track of time! This is superior pain relief too! I didn't even fill the bowl halfway, and I know it has a lot more life left in it. I don't think I'll be filling balloons to maximum capacity in the future.

I never saw myself being a balloon person, but I was so wrong. I can see myself being sick in bed, and hubby can just fill a balloon and bring it to me. So many possibilities.

I just keep finding new reasons everyday to love my new Herbalizer. :)

Good point, but I still think they could slightly reduce the diameter of the cool grips for a tighter fit because sometimes they come loose even from simply unscrewing the bowl.

This may have been helpful if I haven't touched them at all yet, but they already seem a little loosened, and that's problematic one way or another. I guess I did notice people earlier in the thread making some kind of silicone or glue part for it to stick on more, but yeah, I didn't really understand what they were doing, and I knew I didn't want to "make" something.

But yeah, I've already been pretty gentle with the whole setup, and I dont even think the rubber things have loosened specifically because of how I take the bowl off the machine.

Thanks for the tip about actually loosening the whip to give it an ideal seal? Although, again, that wasn't the problem. The "seal" for it was fine even if it was in less loose, it just doesn't feel terribly securely in there one way or the other. And I believe the whip I had that melted was also medical grade tubing? In the end, I think some kind of glass separator just to keep it a bit further from the heating element still would be a smart idea..

I'm also still getting the hang of temps and whatnot. What would people say the general guideline is on that? Difference between bags and whips? I would assume dabs (and indica dominant dry herb) would run hotter, but a good range, especially with people who know the machine well, would always be helpful. I ran my volcano at 350-360, but I'm getting the impression I'll be running the herbie hotter all around to get solid results.

Daytime temps: 290-350f

Early evening temp: 350-390f

Nighttime temp: 420-445f

Generally I save my lower temp abv and use than for my nighttime/bedtime bowls.

I use the temps regardless if I'm using bags/whips/direct inject/water tool. Also, I use these temps for whatever strain because 95% of the time I have no idea what I've received.

This isn't set in stone as sometimes I just set it to an arbitrary number and enjoy.

Everyone has a preference in the end, but I know there are some baselines, like dabs would be hotter than dry herb, and wet herb should be hotter than stale herb (and yes the strains probably would matter too...if you know what you have, as I often do). And also how many bags can really be gotten per bowl (obviously harder to really measure in whip usage).

So yeah, while you listed the entire "range" of temps pretty much, as the herbie itself quantifies it, I was hoping for a more intuitive breakdown (also, I dunno if I'd ever want to get "that" close to 445, except for perhaps particular circumstances).

Not everything about the herbies tiny bowl appeals to me, but one plus about it is, yes the apparent lack of needing to stir (I still stirred it a few times last night because I would see green continue to dot the ABV brown, but yeah it's so small of a space that I would assume stirring is largely pointless too).

Still, I always felt the volcano needed a light stir every few uses despite it tumbling the stuff around, maybe it was because it had a larger surface area to content with?

Madcap79

Experiment then. Not sure what you're looking for? Sounds like you know the answers to the questions you are asking. What's scary about 445f? I don't stir, I just blow back through the bowl after removing from the Herbie to knock the herb off that sticks to the upper screen. Always helps to dry your herb before vaping as a general rule with all vapes.

I don't use concentrates.

I get one bag out of my herb unless I increase the temp. I also use very small amounts.

Spincut, If I were you I wouldn't get too concerned about what temps others are using. You need to experiment and find the temp range that works best for you depending on what type of effect you're looking for. There are so many factors. Medical users are in general more focused on temperatures and strains that work best for their conditions. Are you a medical or recreational user? Are you looking for heavy sedation and a body numbing effect or an active, uplifting, head buzzing social type high? For me, I typically only vape at night and prefer a heavy body stone and sedation. Therefore, I stick to indicas and hybrids and start at 400F and move up incrementally to 445F. Occasionally I vape socially and I prefer strong sativas at moderate temperatures maybe 375f to 400F. That's just me as everyone has different bio chemistries and different strains and temperatures effect everyone differently.

So, what type of vaporist are you and what type of effect are you looking for? Are you a recreational or medical user? If you answer those questions then I'm sure someone on this thread could give you baseline advice on temperatures and strains. All I know is whatever your needs are Herbie will get you there!!

What's this you guys are saying about the fan randomly going on and off ? Is this a cool down feature ? I don't think I've read or heard this before so just thinking it must be a cool down function to maintain the precise temperature I suppose.
I hope it doesn't just start (the fan) after a take a draw and am just sitting there exhaling vapor? If so I guess paying attention is a must.
I know that why your saying take the herb chamber of of after each draw but if the fan goes on that often or randomly I guess it would be annoying.
I hope it doesn't go on to much in between draws cause I tend to cough a lot from vapor due to respitory depression from meds(morphine) so small draws with time to recover after a draw.
I guess I'll find out soon enough but I'd propbably prefer the fan going on after a session to cool down the unit not turn on and release vapor randomly without warning and loose medicine precious medicine.
Now I'm curious and kinda worried in way.
Paranoia I guess so meant vapes over the years and my last bag/whip vape didn't impress me at all (extremeQ) but the volcano did impress me years ago in amsterdam using the balloon with my cousin in a coffeshop on the north see(zaandvord) and ithat balloon was thick with vapor and medicated me very well so with this experience I await the herbalizers arrival as its said that its is the valcano killer just saying what I've read but can't actually confirm till next week.
I hope little things like hoses and grips random on and off fan operation won't turn me off but as I've been told and assured that this vaporizer is the best medical grade vaporizer on the market to date.
I can't wait, really I can't lol

Cheers, medical mark

Basically, I am a recreational user that wants to get a medium-strong vapor without toasting the weed. I accomplished this on my volcano by starting at 350, ( a bit above where THC vapes at so I figured I'd be getting plenty, and trial and error showed it was a decent place to start), and then raised it a degree or two each time until I was in the 360's. By then it was mostly vaped out (mostly as in, got many decent bags, and at that point it's diminishing returns it felt like). I was going for that in the herbie, albeit due to how it works differently, I really wasn't going to go for the same approach (and shouldn't, as I've already discovered).

In the end, I just wanted to figure out what were some solid tempts to use, depending on the situation/thing used (as some things in regard to that are somewhat universal).

The easy alternative is just starting super high and staying there, the thing economizes bud well enough, so why not. But I guess in the end, having an ideal window to get the best out of it not too quickly seems like a sweet spot to me.

Not to mention it would be good to have a pretty solid idea of where to do my oil once I can get my hands on it again.
