Yeah older regulated mods will likely not fire these donuts, like my SVD, or Innokin's other products. Mechanical mods can fire these, but voltage starts at 4.2 and only goes down from there. Our best bet is newer regulated mods that can fire this OHM range. The new Cana DNA 30 Clones have caught my eye and they fire down to .3, and we also have the IPV mod coming out with 35 and 50 watt versions in mid-July that will fire down to .2, DNA 20's are cheap and also an excellent choice, I just want the newest and most powerful because mine doubles as an e-cig. The box mods make for simplicity as they have the charger built in and the unit is cigarette pack sized, not this long "sonic screwdriver", however I suggest a 30amp or better battery such as the VTC5 or Purple Efest 35amp.

I have the Innokin iTaste VV V3.0.
So 4.2 volts and how many watts?
voltage and wattage are different settings and operate independently. I had a hard time understanding what the difference was but this video explains in perfect detail.

What's the highest recommended voltage for the ceramic donut? I have some brand new shitty Tenergy RCR123A's. I'm thinking 6 volts would fry the thing though.

Edit: I won't be trying 6 volts.

I love the idea of using this as a little one-hitter for dry herbs if the donut will make the chamber hot enough. Any idea what the temperature range would be (I know it depends on the battery)?

Do NOT fire ceramic heating elements with variable wattage devices! No no no!

maybe it will with low volts , something for me to try

can you tell me why? the donut with my shatter seems to vape nice when the shatter is cold but when it heats up it gets runny and no longer produces vapor until it is cooled down again. it's like the shatter doesn't bond after it gets too oily or hot.

Unfortunately while left in a hot car in Alabama heat and humidity, the cart will leave through the bottom chamber and through the air holes :( thankfully after a hard day at work coming back to a leaky cart it still fired and got me where I needed to be!

yes that has happened to me as well on that cart. HOT CARS = LEAKY VAPOR PEN
it happens with all my atomizers. just spreading the truth. the shatter/wax turns into a very runny oil . at 120f+ temp. and finds ways to go.
It's a great industry to get into, so much innovation and engineering is still needed. All these parts are still in development stage in my opinion.

@divinetribe Don't melt at the Cannabis Cup! Spozed to be 92 today! If I find you I will see if we can do a ceramic donut/dry herb test!
i will message you my ph # and you can text me when you get there. I will be getting there today around 1pm

I had issues with my Hercules not working with shatter occasionally. If load it up, press the button and it would get got but no vapor. Release the button and a few seconds later a cloud of vapor/possibly smoke would shoot out.

I know this is the opposite of what you reported and could likely be attributed to how i put the Hercules together but I thought id mention it just in case it helps at all

I figured out what was wrong, i had not cleaned it in a few weeks and it was loaded up with all this reclaim. It was saturated, it was leaking out of the bottom quite a bit, but it was hot yesterday 94 degrees. so today i held it upside down and fired the coil for about 1 -2 minutes and let all the stuff drip out that could/ i then unscrewed the atomizer and blew through the holes where the 510 threads are and pushed more reclaim ( thin oil resin) toward the donut. i used a rubbing alcohol wipe to clean as much as i could while doing this. i would say i only got about 1/15 of a gram in reclaim, i screwed the atomizer back on and allowed it to heat up again while holding it upside down and more came out.(i have probably smoked 5 grams through this since the last cleaning) by the time i was done doing this a few times the rubbing alcohol wipe was pretty dirty. once the oil was completely out the ceramic donut was white again. I loaded it up and the thing started producing huge clouds like i remember when i got it and it had all the flavor of the shatter i was using too. we did have one donut out of 25 i sold not fire on both sides (it only glowed on 1 side) . i am sending him a new base tomorrow..

Is there any electronics in the atomizer could you just soak it in ISO?

I fear you're 'barking up the wrong tree' here. By all means try, but the useful margin for making vapor is not wide, maybe 30 degrees? By the time the cooler parts of the chamber get near hot enough to make vapor, those nearer the source will be merrily ablaze I bet. That's the way thermodynamics works here. The fact that you have heat flow automatically means there's a gradient of temperatures.

We're back up against the power issue. The source is tiny and the losses high and insulation poor. Consider the Bender, T1, Evolution, Cera LL and those that actually do this. They're in a whole other class?

Actually electronic parts are pretty immune to ISO (being basically metal, epoxy or tough plastics on the outside), it's seals, insulation, spacers and other non electronic stuff that's the problem usually.

Only the maker can tell us, but I seriously doubt there's any electronic component issues.

Tx for your analysis. Hoped to meet @divinetribe at the Cup to test but could not make it. After he catches his breath he will give it a go and let us know. I'm sure battery power used will be a factor in the internal temps. Perhaps there is one that falls within a working range, who knows. Depends too on whether the ceramic disperses the
heat evenly enough. Fingers still crossed a bit!

can you tell me why? (variable watt devices).
My reasoning is that variable wattage devices will ramp up voltage as the ceramic heating element gets hot, because the device "reads" the resistance of the load and dynamically applies the "correct" voltage needed to keep power constant.

If the heating element can handle the voltage at the top-end of the devices capability, everything will be hunky dory. I think the MVP 2.0 is a great match for the donut used in your atomizer because when set to 11W it will start out at a low voltage, and as the element heats up will ramp up voltage to 5V - the max. 5V is safe voltage for your donut. I think the DNA20/DNA30 is a bad match for the same donut, because its max voltage is 8+volts which is disaster on your donut.

The VW device will ultimately ramp up voltage to the limit. As the ceramic heating heats up, its resistance increases, which results in a higher voltage applied, which results in a higher element temperature, which results in a higher resistance, which results in a higher voltage applied....the cycle continues to the limit of the device voltage.

For me the X6 is working like a charm, I will be selling those on my site for $14 with the charger too.
the donut Kit w/x6 will be $33 on my site next week. i like this donut atty so much i am getting the Divine Tribe logo lasered on it. I will ask right now if there are any electrical things or components that are under the chamber of the donut. I still have to at least try another battery that will make it work like the mvp 2.0, so far that seems like the higher end battery that can do it.
oh and about the higher ohm donuts... my supplier had this to say "
[7/1/2014 we don't have donut atomizer in higher ohm
or individual donut to sell at this time

Will these donut kits come with JUST the donuts or the entire cartridge +5 extras? I have an MVP and was thinking of getting a Donut soon. Soooooooo excited to try one of those things out.

I won't be selling the individual donuts for now , unfortunately the donut atty I have is not a replaceable unit, I can sell the bottom half for now if someones goes out after some time, but I have been using mine for a month and it's easy to clean and It keeps on ticking. do you know who else is selling them besides Fat DAddy's. I have plans for all ceramic chamber and ceramic drip tip donut atomizer. just the 510 threads will be metal.

I have only seen Fat Daddy and you mentioned here. From my extremely lazy and basic google search, everyone seems to be linking straight to Fat Daddy.

I mean, that is all I want in a vape. I want it to be easy to clean and I want it to keep working.
