@zymos

The admittedly sketchy video of the owner who goes by 2 names hitting it from weird ass angles? The promise that its better and different?

I'm going to have to comment on this, say what you will but I feel like I just went back in time reading this, I do remember people calling them out on the video and the I remember the response to that video that for the majority of us cleared up all suspicions.

Weird ass angles? What? I am not sure how much better a demonstration you need but I am satisfied.

Oh and to address the odd name thing, they were in SC, connect the dots here.....laws.....etc.....

As for contacting them Trevor gets back within 24 hours for me usually.

They might be pretty swamped right now though.

@darkrom: You've made 29 posts in this thread and nearly all of them could be rewritten as, "I don't believe these guys, their claims are impossible, and it's probably a con." By now, anyone who hasn't gotten your message never will, so it's time for you to please put your hands in your pockets and stop posting in this thread until you have something different to say. Thanks for your cooperation.

Great Scott!
@pakalolo The last posts were about them having difficulty on spring rates, something was JUST revealed to us. I figured that would be trivial for someone claiming what they claim.

Sorry if my posts were somehow out of line, but I feel they were fine for a post in a candidate thread to post suspicion. That seems to be posted in all thread candidates.

That being said, out of respect to you I won't post back here until there is either news of the product actually existing, or the big reveal that it was all a con.

Additionally, spring rates, really?
This "custom designed, computer toleranced" spring system is no different than your average click pen...
Even that video they posted of the mechanism shows it's no different than your average uniball. Delude yourselves if you want to... They are posting updates to buy time IMO

"The Hopper uses four springs to make electrical contact and provide the mechanical “pen button” functionality. These springs must be balanced and optimized to work in conjunction with one another."

I've never used a uniball...is this how it works?

I thought most pens had one spring and no electrical contacts?...

I highly doubt the spring system is the same as one you'd find in a click pen. They're working with pretty tight size restrictions. Keep in mind that they need room for electronics, the heating element + pathway, charging functionality, lights, the temperature dial, and whatever else they need to cram in there. Making electrical contact and retaining functionality while working in limited space isn't as simple as a click pen's mechanism (which typically has one spring located near the tip). Using four springs that need careful balancing doesn't surprise me at all.

Like I said, justify it however you want to, but if you believe a simple click button mechanism with passthroughs for a contact needs this much engineering, your only fooling yourself or don't know much about mechanical/electrical design.
This thread seems to me to be full of misinformation about this product/ company . They aren't "fresh out of college" and they have producing drones for the military for several years. http://www.birduas.com/

I honestly hope this all works out for the contributors, but you all just refusing to admit that they may be slightly unscrupulous is just unrealistic.

Also, this looks any different than 1 contact in the center from a normal pen button?

Talking from experience, building a revolutionary vaporizer is not a given. Producing the first functioning Inhalater cost more than double the gross funds they collected and more than 4 years....!

Obviously the entrepreneurs of the project are genuine but 90% of start ups don`t make it.

I say it is good to write off the investment, keep the subject out of mind and wish the best to the entrepreneurs.

After reading many of the posts in this thread, how can it be obvious when many don't see it as obvious at all? Maybe it's only obvious to some, eh, but not to others?

Gotta be careful with those blanket general statements.

Well it's obvious to me. Con artists just don't behave like these guys have. They take the money and run. Since sticking around and posting progress reports isn't getting them any extra money and wouldn't help a scam in any conceivable way, Occam's Razor says they're genuine. Whether they are competent is yet to be revealed.

Why exactly? I am not a fan of drones but at the least it means they have some tech background...?

Could have sworn that they were new to the game, oh well, my mistake, but experience is a good thing last I checked.

Hell, I mean we could all be screwed but I think we have a bit to much doom and gloom coming around here, check back in a couple months and then you can say I told you so and whatever

Are you sure about that? I thought they were allowing contributors to purchase more at discount pricing, which would mean "extra money". Did I get that wrong?

I don't know, did you?

I don't follow their campaign. You could be right. Even if you are, I can't see them squeezing much more money out of it until they deliver a product.
