The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

Hey everyone, I started out my FC researching this beautiful, fairly attainable and versatile robot!
Anyway, just wanted to say I peeked in here after ages of not peeking and see all this activity and such.. Nugs of know are amongst my favorite so I will be greedily catching up on this stuff and perhaps be with you presently. Always a place in my Vape shaped heart for Missy Q!
I've had mine for quite a while and still learn new things by popping in from time to time!

DDave has popularized the use of F-F adapters in place of the cyclone bowl when doing elbow packs (and better yet, standardizing the requirements to be successful)

Great results reported when combining this with the ground glass SSV wand in place of the restrictive elbow/whip adapter.. I've had success with an alternative whip adapter, but the SSV wand is readily available and consistent.

Replacing the elbow with a 18mm M-14mm M adapter instead allows one to put a PNWT or F-Bomb on the Q like a hydratube. Nice, tasty pulls, but it does restrict the pull options a bit - while looking killer!

I believe we're just now getting this thing tuned to take it to where we want to be... In order to dream up more insane things to do!

Stay thirsty for ideas, friend :)

I want to say thanks to everyone that has contributed to the wealth of information this thread! I've been using an Extreme Q (DDave + SSV wand mods) for the past few months and I've been very satisfied with the results.

I've only ever combusted a few times in my life before I was introduced to the world of vaping, but there really is no going back! Efficiency, taste and convenience are all improved SO MUCH.

Now I've got VAS  and since I normally use very small loads (0.03 to 0.05g) I've just recently picked up an E-Nano to compare to the modded EQ. I haven't tested the E-Nano yet, but I get the feeling that the modded EQ will still be a better vape in certain situations, such as sharing with friends.

Either way, the experience you get from a modded EQ is fantastic. I've had a lot of friends' come around and try it out, and everyone has been blown away by it

Hi i am new to this forum and i've only been vaping a few months now.. the information and tweaks people have put on here is nothing short of amazing.. never underestimate the power and creativity of a high mind haha. I have a slight problem though, where im so damn useless at using the search function i messed up slightly and ordered a standard SSV wand rather than a ground glass SSV wand.. I have a ground glass one on the way now but i was wondering if i can put the standard SSV wand to any use? I can put pictures up of the one ive purchased if need be, the hole on it is slightly smaller than the cyclone bowl, only 1mm or 2 i'd say, so it doesnt fit onto the heating element as is proving to be pretty useless..

i would try to return it

i just want to thank everyone in this thread, within 2 weeks of owning the machine, ive acquired the Ddave F/F adapter, SSV water pipe elbow, and a better hose. Those addition definitely makes the EQ perform better.

He can't, you have to be a participating member for 60 days before you can open a Classified.

This seems like a good time to explain that a common mistake members make is mentioning that they are thinking about selling something. This breaks the rule against selling in the threads, because once you mention you are thinking about selling something, you have alerted anyone who might be interested to make you an offer. People often don't think that through.

long live the EQ! I have PERFECTED the art of vaping lavendar with it and it is such an amazing experience. i went from being clumsy and confused by it all to making it 2nd nature.
The EQ truly gets better with practice and dedication, and it's fan settings are incredibly well-done. I find that the first fan setting replicates the perfect inhale and at a 200 degree celcius temperature it can extract thick vapour from ladendar for 5 minutes consistently.

I just got one of these to replace my "Da Buddha Vaporizer" because it kept going from no vape to combustion with not much in between.

I've watched multiple reviews and people saying it's great, with everyone getting massively milky bags of vape. I've had people claim that 180c to 200c is perfect temp and done a bunch of research inc how to elbow pack.

Having said all that, I'm TOTALLY unable to get anything better than a very thin mist in a bag. I thought it might be the temperature, so I tried upping it all the way (10 degree steps) to 230c and nothing changed. I'm using the same amount of herb as I would use in my DBV and that would get me absolutely WRECKED (when it didn't combust) and I'm just unable to get anything more than a light buzz after two bags. As a comparison, the same amount got me and a mate both blitzed a few nights earlier in the DBV.

I'm gonna try 240-260 tonight in hopes that it will help and I've ordered a shorter bowl (18mm F/F adapter) that might help, but I'm starting to think that I might just have a dud?

Most of the reviews I saw, people were getting massive bags off just the stock cyclone, so I would at least expect a similar level of performance to that, but nope. I've tried different levels of fan speed and elbow packing for the bag, but the best we got was mildly high off about 5x what I'd normally use.

Also, it's not the herb, as it's the same batch and grind as I was using in DBV. Kind of annoying, as I was really excited to get this vape, but consensus (from 3 others inc myself) is that it's supremely underwhelming.

TL;DR = I'm getting almost nothing out of my vape, despite using more herb than my DBV and upping the temperature to 230c. Wondering if it's a dud unit.

Ditch your cyclone bowl and buy this adapter. Your DBV stem will fit perfectly. Put a screen in the bubble of the adapter and cap your 2/3 filled dbv wand with an elbow bowl. Then hit it right through the dbv whip........http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-mm-Glass...667?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ad71dc65b

Will pass on that adapter, as it has a $30 international shipping :p I purchased a very similar one off ebay for $20 total. Just won't be here for 2 weeks or so.

As for the DBV whip, I've just noticed that it will fit :) - But again, not sure how much that will actually help, because I've previously tried elbow packing and it didn't seem to help with getting nice vape for balloons. I got maybe 2 solid hits with an elbow packed whip, but I was already pretty munted, so not sure how well it actually compared to a DBV bowl of the same size (will try tonight w/ the DBV wand and elbow packing from the get go).

The main reason I bought this vape is the balloon feature, so I REALLY want to get that working. Part of the digital display is dodgy as well, so may just have to say "fuck it" and try warranty if it doesn't pick up in this coming week. At 230c, everything I've read says I should be getting massive cloudy bags, but reality is I get a filled balloon that's so light on vapour I could read a newspaper through it. The 2nd bag might as well just be air.

Sad to say that the EQ wont ever be a great vape for bags. The top performers in that category would be the zephyr and the volcano, and maybe the herbalizer, though i cant say for sure. The EQ doesnt have the horse power to efficiently pump out bags. The Herbalaire is probably better at doing both.
The point of using the adapter and the wand is to get your herb almost right on top of the heating element. If you can't get blasted using the ssv/dbv mod, something is seriously wrong.

At this point, I don't really care if it's the top performer for bags or anything, I just want it to work :( I bought it after seeing video after video saying it was a good bag vape and they were pulling massive, puffy white clouds in their bags akin to what I was getting when my DBV was working optimally.

My brother had one show up today (he bought one same time as I did) so we will compare them tonight and see if it's just bad technique or a dodgy machine. On the upside, I can return my DBV and the EQ in the same box if I need to warranty it and get my money back.

hey man, before i had the F/F adapter, i was able to get good results with the stock elbow and cyclone bowl by using the elbow pack method with the bag. I usually set mine around 190-200 if i want to fill up bags.

I 1st heat the eq up at 220 for about 5 minutes than grind my herb up very fine and i take my ddave adapter and drop my herb in , hook up the elbow to the bag and preheat the herb for 30-45 seconds. Than i turn the eq up to about 230 and start at fan speed 1, as i get about half way through filling up the bag i crank the temp up a bit to 240 and fan speed 2 or 3 and i always get the thickest bag of vapor that 1 bag to the head gets me paranoid. I have never had a problem with the bag , i also put a fresh bag on using zip ties as i feel it holds the air in much better and gives me a tighter seal , also much easier than trying to get those stupid rubber bands they include around the glass. Best of Luck

well that sucks. i have used the Q for months now (i'm only using the bag, got tired of sore throats using whips my my da buddha). i vape at least 1.5 grams every day and i always get a bunch of very milky bags along with a few not so milky bags but it's still good vapor. i do 190 c during the day and 200 c at night. i'm not someone who believes tha i have to barely be able to see the other side of the bag or it isn't good enough but it is nice to see.

i never use any of the modifications to the Q that i've read about or used the elbow but i love the genius stoner adaptations. :)

i get this all day long. no mods, no adaptations, 190 c or 200 c.

jajuj8.jpg

it would seem that there is something wrong with your unit.

i do find that if the bag looks a bit too light, i change out the screen in the part that goes into the cyclone bowl and it fixes it right up. a little rubbing alcohol and it's all better.

i keep the Q on about 14 hours a day. everyday. its been a few months so i'm pretty happy. even if it craps out now, i've gotton such good use out of it, i'd go buy another right away.

i don't fill the cyclone anymore. i found myself only wanting one bag instead of 2 at a time, which is what i'd do with a full bowl, so i started using a 1/4 tsp measuring spoon for each bag full. it fills a bit less than 1/2 of the cyclone bowl and it's about 1/10th of a gram.

Half the cyclone bowl is more than 0.10 gram. That amount would barely cover the screen

i keep my pot about 60% humidity so it's a bit fluffy even when ground up. i just took two, 1/4 tsp full and it came to just below the black part of the cyclone which is what i meant when i said it filled a bit less than 1/2 of the cyclone bowl as i don't load pot beyond the bottom of that black line.

i use a 1/4 tsp spoon per bag which weighs out to about one 10th of a gram. i do it about 12 times a day or so. i don't weigh it out each time i use a spoonful but i've checked the weight of random 1/4 teaspoons full, and it's always just a bit more than a 10th of a gram.

What does smoking lavender do for you ? Does it get you high ?
Puts me into a lucid state of relaxation and tranquility before bed :)
And also numbs a bit of neck and shoulder pain when I mentally can't be bothered dealing with it. Helps to take my mind off it. I could compare it's effect to MJ but on a much more subtle level, and it does not get you high, simply relaxes :)

Hey everyone.

I'm going to purchase an EQ in the next few days (probably from puffitup.com, because that's the cheapest I've seen), but after reading through this thread, I'm beginning to think I should buy and use a DDave adapter and SSV wand instead of what the EQ comes with. What are your thoughts? Should I just stick with the default EQ for a little before buying it, or should I immediately put together a modded EQ?

As a side-note, this will be my first vaporizer (just in case that makes a difference).

I think you should just try it out of the box first to see how you like it. I think that's how most of us have done it and the modding will just come naturally to fit your own vaping style.

The only mod I'd recommend to everyone out of the gate is to ditch the PVC tubing that comes stock (I hated it) and get yourself some good silicone tubing to replace it with. This is what I use. You can thank me later.

:peace:
