We have a large university in the town I live in. You often see apts for rent that say, no smoking but 420 OK in the ad, or 420 friendly. Not large complexes but like apts in old houses, duplexes and large rooms to rent.

No smoking is different than vaping. You're not smoking.

don't admit anything, your not smoking so leave it at that, if anyone ever say something about smelling weed just point towards the alley or street and say... " there were some kids on skateboards and I think they smelled like weed" 95% of people in San Diego will just nod there head and say " yeah those kids again...."

x2. You are not smoking!! And if you do reasonable amounts, are not trying to produce massive vapor clouds, the smell will be next to nothing. Do smaller hits where there is no vapor exhaled and the smell
is negligible.

The thing is vaping IS smoking in California and most leases have a non smoking and "illegal activity" clause which includes drugs (MJ) obviously. Your defense would be to have a legal card but that won't help you with a non smoking lease. You could get sued for damages evicted or have a nuisance case brought on you by a neighbor.

It really boils down to your landlord and your neighbors. The way you handle your vape clouds is also important but not always realistic. Somebody is going to smell something at some point. All it takes is one A hole to ruin it.

The USA used to be so kick back and now it's a police state run by LIBERALS. It REALLY pisses me off how things are these days.

Here in NYC the new mayor wants to pass the Soda Ban 16 0z rule again like Bloomberg wanted. WHY ??? Because it will be a foot in the door for other similar bans/rules to come.

I go back to California in a few weeks and will look again but the more I research the more I feel living in Cali would be another version of the police state I already live in....but with better weather :)

Most "no smoking" leases have very little to do with liberalism. It is mainly in place as protection from fire/smoke damage in addition to not bothering those that may not smoke, but also share the same space with you (apt. buildings, etc.,).

I've never been to Cali or NY, but if I had to guess, I'd say California is going to be way more weed friendly. Maybe spend a week or two with a vape and then you'll have a better idea about how the smell will affect anything.

YOU don't seem to realize that neighbors WILL NOT smell the vapor from your apartment. I don't care how much you vape, this won't happen. I can vape out my room and walk out leaving the door open. The smell does not travel out into other rooms within my house. At least not the way you seem to think it does.

I said this earlier in the thread and I'll say it again, you are over-thinking this.

Many of us have had to live in no-smoking apartments when we were combusters and made it work without evictions. As a vaper, you have little to worry about save a bit of common sense. You really have received solid advice on this thread. I would heed it and stop stressing. Landlords can't just show up without warning, which would allow plenty of time for you to "prepare" for their visit.

Vapor and smoke are two different things! Remember this.

I agree I think you are blowing this whole thing out of proportion. I obsess like this over things.

Cali is a lot like WA where I live. People don't make a big deal out of it, they are living their own lives. Vapor smell goes away, it doesn't linger. It doesn't smell like pot is burning, like when you were combusting.

It's a whole new world for you now, you have more freedom than when you were combusting.
Enjoy it!

I recommend the OP buy a "smoke buddy junior" off USA ebay for an extra level of stealth.

Enjoy ;-)

Great News !

The apartment complex I was looking at ALLOWS SMOKING. However it can't be a nuisance to anyone else. I assured them that I plan on vaping etc. etc. and respect other tenants....which I do.

This is great news. The complex is in an area that I desperately wanted to live in....NORTH COUNTY.

I also plan on taking several member's recommendations that were listed on this thread. I have re read all of them and will plan accordingly.

Now all that is left is choosing a Vaporizer. That might be more difficult than finding an apartment :)

Only you know what is best for you far as a vape goes. Do the research and read through the various threads and educate yourself.

Find one that has been on the market for a year or so, unless its the Herbalizer.

Encinitas. That seemed to be the most progressive area in NC minus Oceanside which I won't go due to the army base.

By the way what does NANO mean ? In spanish it means a dwarf.

The Nano is a plug-in log vaporizer made by EpicVapes - it's quickly growing in popularity, fueled mostly by this site - you won't find much about the Nano vape anywhere else on the web....

It's the first Vaporizer I've owned that I loved it so much I'm now ordering a new custom exotic Nano made with Afzelia Burl wood.

Well I signed my life away a few days ago. I signed a No Smoking lease for a SF Home in Encinitas :) I've never used a vaporizer before other than for E-Liquid so I am hoping my Arizer Solo delivers.

I am very excited to be moving out to SD but I am still anxious about the No Smoking/Vaping Freaks. They sound like lunatics online !

Either way live and let live. I won't let them ruin my times in SoCal.

Middle of Feb will be the start of a new era for me.....

Thanks for all the advice given to me on this thread. One or two members really went out of their way for me and I do appreciate it.
