More questions for the experienced!

It's been a while since I posted and I had another question for you guys: now recently my status at work changed, I started getting fewer hours and I am having a bit of an issue with anxiety, when I'm out and about it makes it really hard to function. What would you recommend as far as medicating for anxiety? Any information would be much appreciated. Currently I medicate for issues with insomnia, and so far so good, makes my nights easier. But as far as the anxiety goes what would be better, an indica or hybrid? I've heard tell that sativas can make anxiety worse in some people? Is this true? What about in terms of level of high to achieve? I suspect that would be rather subjective? Any other info would be much appreciated!

In my experience, certain strains are better for anxiety and panic attacks than others. I find that strains which are higher in THC can cause anxiety in some people, but I personally have only had this happen once or twice a long time ago, and I always wound up having reasons to suspect that I may have been laced. However, I digress...

I would look for something that is higher in CBD, and mid to lower in THC (anything from around 15 - 19% shouldn't be overdoing it, in my opinion). I personally find that many Hybrids are just as effective as Indicas, providing of course that I pick and choose my strains. I find that the Sativas tend to be more of a heady, mental high than a physical, body centric one. As such, it is the Sativas that I would avoid: they seem to be great for putting me into a relaxing state wherein I am less stressed out, and panic is less likely, but reveal themselves as altogether useless when my heart is pounding, my palms are sweating, and my pulse feels like it is going to propel itself outwards through my temples. In other words, I would use Sativas (or the more Sativa-dominant Hybrids) for relaxation, and putting myself in a peaceful frame of mind, but would go to a heavy Indica if I was in the middle of a panic attack and needed sedating. In summation, I don't worry as much about Sativa versus Hybrid versus Indica, but more about CDB versus THC. I also find it worth noting that many of the strains at my provider are listed as being useful for stress, while others are listed as being good for anxiety. It seemed a little silly to me at first, as I thought for a moment that they were largely the same thing, and they are, but it comes back to what I stated above: it would seem, for me at least, that the strains that are indicated for stress are good preventives, but very poor sedatives; I stick to those listed for anxiety if I seek something to calm me down whilst experiencing anxiety and panic.

As far as a level of being medicated, this is very subjective, as you yourself so eloquently put it. I personally find that ~0.30 grams in any of the vapourizers I own to be perfect to get me where I need to be. This may be very different for each and every individual, so my advice to you would be to start small, and experiment, since you can always increase your level of medication, but you cannot reduce it if you've overdone it. Perhaps 0.10 gram increments would be advisable.

I would love to suggest specific strains for you, but since my provider no longer uses slang, or street names for their product, it makes comparing their strains to those of other providers nigh on impossible. There is one strain which I have found to be good for anxiety, that they refer to as Red #4. I am fairly certain that they were initially calling it "White Shark".

Does this only happen when you're out of the house/comfortable places?

If so I'd follow the above post with more higher cbd strains if they don't make you too sleepy in the day. Critical mass/big bud cash crop strains are generally not too strong but have a indica dominance.

One thing I've noticed over the years is a lot of hybrids have a Sativa buzz for 30 odd minutes and then the indica effects kick in bubblegum for instance does this so you are at risk of some initial anxiety. Where as critical mass doesn't it hits indica from the off.
Skywalker og does this do but it is strong and after a few day vapes it may change your mind about going out.

Depending on stress it can be an in the house or out of the house kind of issue, when am at home and the issue starts up I can usually just relax myself with whatever indica I have on me, that's not a huge issue to deal with. It's when I am out of the house and start to have anxiety that it gives me problems. From what I have found just vamping in my own home, a few good hits and I am medicated but still functional, if I go through a full bowl usually I'm out like a light. So when I'm at home but still have work that has to get done I will take a pull or two stop and I relax noticeably, I get tired but I am still functional and if I have something on the tv or that I'm reading that interests me I can continue to function like normal. When that whole bowl hits though, whole other story.

Here is some more information on the White Shark I was referring to earlier.

Oh, and I forgot to add that I've also had great results with Chocolope. Sadly, I have been unable to obtain it medicinally.

A random thought but if you can access some 16 to 20 week sativa that may give more balanced feel.

Both of those are definitely helpful, I'll see if I can find any of the above. Thanks a ton for the replies and info!

If you can, pick a mid-range bud, rather than top-shelf.

Mid-range, I find, tend to be very calming, but not very couch-locky. Locally, I can get NYC Diesel (an Indica-dominant hybrid) for about 60-70% the price of top-shelf stuff that either stirs up my paranoia, or puts me to sleep.

Use just a little, and give it time to see if it quiets that noisy jitter in your head.

Thanks, very infrequently do I go top shelf anyway. Midrange has always been my thing.

I have a question. It's about the "OG" strain. Does it stand for Ocean Grown or Organically Grown? I've had 2 different bud tenders saying different things here. I thought I would come to the experts, so I can get the right info. I've been corrected twice.:\

EDIT: I looked online and there is info also that says "OG" stands for Original Gangster.

I think it was known for being Ocean Grown but from where I live, I've known it as Original Gangster. It always has that distinct taste.
