What Song To Play At Your Funeral?

Been thinking a lot about death lately. Pretty much from the moment I wake up, really.

I've decided this is the one and only song I want played at my funeral. In fact, I want no words from anyone else.

You?

Okay, like any self-loathing pseudo-medicated alcoholic manic-depressive stoner with a borderline personality disorder, I've decided I want TWO songs played at my funeral:

Song #2:

Quite appropriate for the funeral of an Aspie, however the meaning would be lost to the "Normals" attending.

Edit: Corrected the song youtube link

Armed security deployed to lock & guard the doors, nobody leaves till the song ends....

You forgot to issue blunt weapons to the victims er attendees . . . ;)

Edit: I'm not sure I even want a funeral. I just want to return to the earth in some natural way. Not cremated, more of a natural, organic, decomposition back into the soil/food chain somehow.

Okay, so, no funeral.

But that doesn't mean you can't have a song for your non-funeral. ;)

ok . . . this was sung at my grandfather's funeral when I was 6. I wasn't there in person but my grandmother had it on tape cassette and I sang it to her while she was passing. "How Great Thou Art" has long been my favorite.

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

Exactly the mood I was thinking of when I drunkedly / stonedly thought of this basic stoner thread / question ... :ko:

Thanks, @t-dub ;)

RUDE BOY

Space is the Place
There was a wake/memorial for me once, although I was only in ICU and not dead.

Kegs of beer and bands along with people laughing, crying and carrying on. I'm told it was an awesome party. But friends got together and Jammed through both Joy Division Albums, I just wish they had recorded it to play when it's all for real.

I don't want a funeral, Just leave my corpse in the swamp and wave goodbye while humming a Happy tune... Goodbye !

stay true to yourselves

This. Or the Thomas the Tank Engine theme some with 50 cent rapping 'In Da Club' over it.

In all seriousness though, the lyrics of this song resonate what I want said when I die.

I know Joe Meek had his ups and downs, and ultimately, his life on Earth probably did more harm than good - which is probably why I identify with him so much.

Whatever way you look at it, he was responsible for some beautiful, ahead-of-its-time, yet timeless, music.

How many songs can you say you know that feature the clavioline?
