MiniVAP Vaporizer

I have just found another bubbler that looks like it would do really nicely with a miniVAP:
http://www.zamnesia.com/dabbing/2364-glass-oil-rig-blaze-turbine-ice.html

Got a 2-stage percolator, 5mm thick glass and also room for filling it with ice, what more can one wish for...

This might just become my bubbler in the future.

Do you have checked the cheap high quality bubbler thread ? The fastest way to reload is to use the no whip method.
@MinnBobber , thanks for your seasoned input. Pretty sure this vape will do it for me, and having the option to get into glass/water with a relatively easy-looking setup as posted above and on previous pages seems like a great bonus.

Does anyone know if the charger is usable with 220v and 110v by using a simple voltage converter?
Are units sold in the U.S. (110v) backwards compatible to 220v and vice versa?

wouldn't have thought about this if the vape was 250$ but spending this much on what essentially just produces hot air is somehow making my head spin. Excuse my tentative posts.

The charger/power supply natively takes all voltages from 100 to 240v, it's just the power cord that you would need to change to use it anywhere and it's the most standard cord you can think about almost every appliance without a mass use it.

Hot air indeed, but rocket science grade.

sdrsh,
I'd say US or Euro units should work across the pond. It appears they come "universally" equipped.
Starting at the wall socket: Comes with presumed Euro 220 plug (two big round prongs with silver tips).
Then a US 110 plug that snaps onto Euro plug and fits US 110 sockets. Then approx 3 feet of cord to converter box which says.....input AC 110-240, output 16.8 V 3.0 A, then another 3 Ft cord, it plugs into 6" x 6" VAP charging platform where you place the battery to recharge.
I also bought the AC "puck" to run from AC current. It is very lightweight puck that replaces battery to run from AC. It feels very cheap but is very expensive ;) The same cord that plugs into the charging platform, plugs into the AC puck to run the unit directly from AC. I have not used this item yet

So, it should work here or in Europe.
Hope this helps

Thanks @Roger D and @MinnBobber for the details. I guess it is standard practice nowadays to have appliances come with 100-240V receivers, same with the PAX.

Probably going to get that "puck" as well for longevity's sake of this tool of rocketry.

Allright, my miniVAP just came in after 3 months and this is probably the most dissapointing day of my life to date.
They forgot to package just about everything. I just got a charging base, a battery, the heating piece and the power adapter. Because I waited an eternity, the web store I bought it at also included an accessory kit, but the whole thing is useless without the top piece. But that's not even the worst part by far. When I suck air through it (basically putting my lips around it like a bong, because I don't have the top piece) while the thing is OFF I still taste this terrible plastic taste that makes me nauseous. Next to that, when I suck air through those silicon tubes they give with it, it gives a different, but equally disgusting plastic taste to the air as well... When I turn it on and only just smell the top it stinks like someone threw a plastic bottle into a bonfire. Not exactly my idea of a vapor purity guarantee.
I'm at utter disillusion here, this is one of the best vapes there is and I payed €470 for this thing and they send me this? Wow... Even the firmware is iffy, sometimes when I press a button it changes the temperature immediately and sometimes I need to hold it for 2 seconds until it changes. I understand this goes against everything this whole community has been saying for ages but I feel like this is some sort of cheap thing into which the manufacturers didn't put any attention or care whatsoever.
The charging base feels flimsy as hell as well, how can they even charge 60 bucks for that thing when you purchase it on its own?

Seriously, I'm confused and I don't know what to say.. And I'm nauseous.. I'm not trolling in any way here. I don't even know why I am posting all of this, but I guess I don't believe what I just experienced or I'm trying to vent my disappointment or whatever.

EDIT: It actually smells just like the Arizer Solo I once tried to take one draw from with an empty bowl, but a little less intense. It's just this synthetic taste which makes all your primal instincts immediately say: "warning, this stuff it toxic". So yeah, the Solo was stinky too, but at least the package was complete.

Serial is 06D436 btw

Contact your Credit Card company if you cant get a hold of the website for replacement.
Thanks, yeah, I can return it any day, it's not about that. I was just hoping to get a great piece of equipment, which seems like a dream shatted right now.

vaype,
It's a ELHE Alchemist 14mm. 58 euro from Azarius in Amsterdam. It's quite small and made from 3.2mm glass. I think the quality is amazing for the price. Quality German glass.

I think it may loose a little flavour but because it is a little cooler you can take bigger hits. I like it as an option when at home and I don't need to do too much!

Hey @DrRishi is azarius a walk in store in amsterdam ? I'm going to be in amsterdam this week and want to pick up a small concentrate rig to use , battery hasn't arrived yet so won't be taking my MV
Cheers

Yes, walk in store. Be sure to check hours/ days open. Closed Sun and Monday. I went on a Monday to buy a piece, last day in town, and they were closed :(

+1 on giving them a call beforehand. They do not have a huge amount in the shop but if you ask them they can get stuff really quickly. I was lucky and they happened to have my bong in the shop.

Hello Everyone,

Last week I ordered the Minivap. It arrived today and is sitting in front of me now.

It's smaller than I thought, even with the battery attached. Charged the battery for a while. It looks like it came almost full. The light, which seems to indicate the charging process went back to normal after a couple of minutes.
I started the minivap and cycled through the temps up to red and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Still giving off some plastic smell but I'll continue with the burn-off for a while.

Now, my first issue is the accessories package. I don't fully understand.
What is a flexi-cone? is it meant to be the plastic "whip" you get? Because I only received one of those whips, but everywhere the minivap package is pictured with two of thoes whips.

The quick start guide is very short and there is no mention of this flexible whip-like mouthpiece, never mind how to attach it. Maybe I'm not thinking clear yet but I don't see how to attach it yet.

Now, those flexi-cones could also be the actually cone-shaped pieces (2), which are of two different sizes and what looks like different materials. One of them was attached to the lid and has a screen in it. The other one has no screen and seems to be a replacement, but why then the different shape? Is it for use with the whip mouthpiece? I can't see through the logic yet, especially with the lack of instructions given.
I am all for self-educating and experimenting but with this price tag I expected a little bit more careful instructions for a first time user.

Any experienced mvapers care to give a hand to my first session with this babe?

//EDIT// ok.. thinking a little clearer now... Am I supposed to push the whip through the lid and insert a screen into the part which is inside of the lid? and the two flexi-cones are pictured above and are only used with the teflon mouthpiece?

I think you have it now. The basket fits nicely into the silicon cones (both the loose one and the one integrated with the wip). I push a screen down on top of the herb in the basket then fit the basket in the cone. Actually very easy. There is a tip that fits in the silicon wip so you don't have to suck on a silicon tube.

I also noticed the pictures do not fit with the current accessory kit. I purchased a spare kit just to be sure.

Just discovered that my universal 12v power adaptor that I use has a tip which matches the charging base and the power puck so both can be run of 12v! Very handy when we are off the net.

Thanks for your input, @DrRishi . Put a screen in the cone of the whip-thing and pulled it through the lid. Seems to work as intended.

What about clouds though? I wouldn't categorize myself as strictly a cloud chaser, but I do like to feel something in the process of inhalation and exhalation.

There is literally one time where I busted a huge cloud, pretty much after my first couple of puffs on the MV, but haven't really been able to recreate that. Got some clouds that were a little more than the pax on green but most of the time I inhaled and indeed felt something hitting my tongue, and getting some taste of the flowers, but straight-up no vapor on exhalation - and I didn't hold my breath for 30secs or something like that, just a couple of seconds like I normally do.

For clarifications: I did pull on it for more than ten seconds, sometimes a couple of hits subsequently, in case the herb chamber needed heating or something, tried temperatures until green, no red yet as green should suffice for steady cloud production.

I also get a harsher (not negative IMO) feeling to the throat when pulling harder on the MV but not recreating the cloud I busted out after a couple of puffs in the beginning.

Any tricks to get some clouds?

I have a feeling that the LEDs, and subsequently the all the electronics, are behaving irregularly.

First, the temp light has stayed on green (previous chosen temp) when I started the MV, but didn't start blinking or anything, just stayed on constant green, as the battery did on the backside. Pressing any buttons didn't do anything and I had to unplug the battery to restart the MV.

Another note on another try: heated up the MV to green until it stopped blinking, took a couple of draws, no vapor, and the light started blinking again. Changing temperatures will restart the blinking as well, which makes sense when going up in temps but not really when going down... does it have a "cool-down" function that would let you know when you reached the lower temp again. Here's where a thicker user-manual could come in handy.

When doing the initial burn-off I noticed that the unit went the cool-down phase (Blue) after twenty minutes.

So to be honest, I am sort of in a delusion right now. Even though some posts ago I was told that it wouldn't burst out clouds like it would through a water tool (which is not used at the moment), I still expected it to outperform the PAX. ( i am only mentioning the pax because it is my only other vape for comparison)

If you've followed the venus vape thread in recent times you might have read my, so far, unfortunate experience with the venus. It gets good reviews and should outperform the pax as well, but my two units, original and replacement, were not producing anything at all, except spent AVB. Am I attracting faulty units and temporary missteps by small manufacturers or is there hope for me to get the learning curve of the MV in the near future?

Some rules to follow with the MV:

- don't pack your bowl, don't load too much
- use a medium or fine grinding
- Bud need to be very dry
- start to hit slowly, a long time, but slowly and when you feel the vapor you can increase your draw to get bigger cloud (that's why a waterpipe helps here cause you can see all the process and vapor is easier to keep in your lungs).
- load your hot MV some mn before to start to inhale could help

And if it still don't work maybe you need to contact the MV customer service....good luck!

edit: I was disappointed when I received my MV but after a week I was convinced

Per my experience for your question below:

"First, the temp light has stayed on green (previous chosen temp) when I started the MV, but didn't start blinking or anything, just stayed on constant green, as the battery did on the backside. Pressing any buttons didn't do anything and I had to unplug the battery to restart the MV."

Mine starts at previous temp (like your example of green) and does START at constant green. Then, after a couple minutes, it goes to the blinking green until warm.
It also blinks as you go down a temp so it appears to have a cool down mode, blinks until it goes down to proper temp.

@PPN : tried different amounts of material and different techniques of pulling, e.g.: start slowly and then start ripping on it as soon as I felt something warm on my tongue and pulling really long, slowly and steady.
no difference in vapor.

and after about 4-5 unsatisfying cloud-attempts there is nothing coming from the bowl anymore, not the slightest amount of noticeable vapor. AVB seems a little browned by the process, but nowhere near what the PAX is producing.

@MinnBobber : thanks for clarifying. seems that the LEDs are working properly.

I'll give it some more practice but almost can't imagine to be more successful because I've tried hard.
BTW, only very little effects were felt.

I'll get in touch with vapornation, where I ordered it from. I basically hope that the unit is defective because so far it is far from what I was looking for.

Bread and vapor for the people!

The LED's are weird and I can confirm the same sequence. When my battery in completely full the battery light is blues for about 10 seconds after I switch it on. I did mail them but unfortunately no reply.
That is the only thing I don't like about my MiniVap. The inconsistency of support from the manufacturer!

Pulling that long and hard on green should give you a rip that will make you cough your lungs out!
I usually don't get that much visible vapour on the first few hits but after that.....

I can only agree with PPN's checklist. Dry, well ground bud not to tightly packed. I scoop the basket full of bud, push it down slightly, scoop it full again, press it lightly and insert the screen then pop the basket in the cone. First couple of draws are mainly flavour but that's the same on the Solo. After that its a much as the lungs can take. I would crank it up to Red, that might wok better with your bud.

Good luck.

Phew! More testing was done and persistence won! This vape is impressive!

It's a mystery to me that the first couple of sessions with multiple attempts remained fruitless.
Maybe a combination of under/over-packing the crucible with material and not being patient enough with heating the herb with my own draw. Maybe it just needed some convincing love.

It definitely requires a bit of experimenting with how you draw on it to find the sweet spot for vapor production versus burning your tongue, but finding it is very rewarding. And during my first couple of sessions burning my tongue was not an issue. Perhaps it wasn't heating properly in the beginning and now functions as intended.

There's still more testing to be done of course but my other vape, the pax, will be cleaned (one last time!) and put in storage as a backup.

Thanks to you FCers for helping me out with your experience!

Viva la vaporizacion!

hey has anyone had issues with their minivap losing power? It seems like it isn't vaping the material as well as it did at the start and takes much heavier draws to get any decent vapor.

The MV has only been in my hands for a couple of days, so I can't provide you with my personal experience.
However, it might be due to resin build-up in the heating chamber. How long have you been using the MV?

Check out this video to see how to disassemble the removable parts for more thorough cleaning.

This is a known issue, it's a bug. I have been through it several times. Don't bite into thinking it's still working if you're not satisfied, you'll have to send it back.

Hey guys, I was wondering what is your experience with Hermes? I have tried contacting them twice in 2013 for a warranty claim. They haven't responded even up to this date. I just emailed them again, but additionally I emailed authorizedvaporizerdealer as well. Man... I just miss my MiniVap so much... I saved so long in order to even afford the damn thing. Luckily I have my herbalizer now... but I want my MiniVap back... :<

The common experience is that you really have to insist. I hope this is going to be taken care of because it's such a pain to wait !
