Did you use mouthpiece lubricant? Clean it regularly? Only time I see people having issues it's due to cleaning. That's not ALWAYS the case, just asking.

So far I am really enjoying my PAX. It's my second vaporizer, my first REALLY portable one. Previously I used a vapir no2, it was a good first step I think, not too expensive and it did the job effectively, I decided to go with this one after going to my lhs to see what they had, they have always been pretty cool so they told me a bit about everything, the PAX really stuck with me so I purchased it last night, I let it charge, loaded it up and really enjoyed it, I like that it doesn't get to warm and it does the job effectively even though it is so small, it actually fits comfortably in my pocket, with my vapir I had to put it at the bottom of the backpack and it still looked rather inconspicuous when I pulled it out, this one doesn't look like anything in particular and it really does the trick. Before I bought it I lurked on this thread to learn about it a bit, I found that I liked what I was reading and went ahead with it. So far the impressions are great, thanks to SliM for posting the videos, they were definitely informative and helped make my decision on which one to go with. I don't regret getting this little baby! Also, purple is such a nice look on this thing hahaha

I did buy from Ploom and they still ask me for name etc.

My point is that unless the Pax was bought directly from Ploom, they have no way to connect a name with a serial number. It's possible they could do that with their own sales, but it's not clear that they actually do. They can ask everyone for a name, but that doesn't mean they can connect it to a serial number.

I purchased the pax a month and a half ago.
It is not worth the $270.00.
It was progressively getting worse after each cleaning.
The unit cannot handle the stickyIcky.
The mouth piece is really a poor concept.
Now I have to send it back to be either fixed, or exchanged.
At least my Davinci Ascent lasted 4 and half months before being sent back for
Exchange.
There has to be better made units for portable vaporizers than the Pax.

I don't work for any vaporizer company,
I just vaporize.

Thanks for sharing your opinion.

My opinion is that I disagree with every one of your assertions about the Pax. That you seem boastful that another vaporizer lasted "4.5 months" before having to send it back to be fixed, to me, says a lot.

There isn't anything stickier than what I use in this device every day, and have been for for nearly a year now, a quick and dirty picture for example:

Based on what you've said, perhaps the fault lies not with the vaporizers...just saying. ;)

I purchased 2 Pax 23 months ago.
To me they are worth the $250 I spent on each.
They work great after each cleaning.
They have only ever had stickyicky put in them, and they always perform like champs.
The mouthpiece works well with regular cleaning.
What issues are you having that you need to send it back so soon?

There may be a better portable for you than the Pax, but that does not mean that they are poorly made.

@GraffiX That's some quality stuff. I guess you are like me, you only vape the best... None of that mid crap...

I got introduced to the Pax by a friend who smokes stuff like that. I think the Pax can handle anything thrown it's way..

Thanks brother, great minds and all that! :) Indeed, no midis here. :) That is S.A.G.E. & Sour, a THSeeds exclusive. You can read more about it here. Definitely has become my favorite strain. I'm trying out some Prozack from "medicalSeedS", an Italian breeder, and will have my first taste sometime in August. ;)

I also have an affinity for microscopes. Here's a picture of the S.A.G.E. & Sour "little closer" than the above image: ;)

Here's another even closer one, just for kicks:

You gotta love breeder stock. :)

Peace and kind dreams, brother!

Nice shot GraffiX, reminds me of that quote from Sampson "The stickiest of the ickyest."

Ploom sent me a brand new replacement after it was determined my unit had a defect. Wooohooo :) Here is an unboxing and a little description of how Ploom made good on their warranty. I'm a happy man.

I agree, i've had mine since they released it. Yes, there have been some mouthpiece issues , which they took care of and you do have to clean it regularly. Ploom has given stellar customer service to every one with a legitimate Pax. When replacement mouthpieces or when i needed a new charger, i had them within 3 days I think a vape that actually works with a 10 year warranty is totally worth the $ i spent.
I have other vapes that i've spent just as much on, that are in the trash or were given away after months of use. Is the Pax for everyone, no, but it's stealthy and very portable and works well outside

Sorry if I upset some, but I said the mouth piece
was a poor design. The rest of the pax unit seems to be well thought out. I found that the best temp, however, would be between med to high.
On high it tears through the load. On med, it's not hot enough. It probably is my fault about problems with mouthpiece.
The first davinci I had , had no problems and retired it to a friend.
Yeah, I vape brown weed only!
Give me a break, with a the growers out there,
Weed has gotten pretty good.
Rarely will I break out the loop to take a closer look at it.
Sorry, weeds not my life.
Guitar is!

It sounds like the Pax just isn't for you which is fine.. Try the Solo, that has 7 different temps...

Sell your Pax on eBay or craigslist to someone who will like it more..

Good luck..

@GraffiX Wow... That is freaking impressive! Nothing like some good herb..

You drink too or you just a vaper?

@Steele Concept Thanks for the video man.

Thanks brother! Cannabis is just a beautiful plant all around! :)

I'm not much of a drinker at all, but when I do drink I'm a whiskey/whisky guy. I like Crown on the rocks as my "go-to", but I also enjoy single malt scotch (The Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, etc), and single barrel whiskeys like Buffalo Trace, Blanton's, etc. Pretty much reserve the drinking for special occasions though. I much prefer cannabis for my ails. :)

Presumably it's me who you erroneously feel "you've upset". Not sure why (unless it's projection, which I suspect strongly...). Hell, I thanked you for your opinion and shared mine with you and would have left it at that. However I'm compelled to respond given your focus on my post in your response.

The temps and the performance of any vaporizer, not just the Pax, are dependent directly on the content of trichromes and oils in the herb, as well as moisture content, density of the pack, and the grind. It makes no sense to indicate "the best temp is somewhere between medium and high" as a blanket statement, because as such it's simply not true. The temp is dependent on the qualities of the herb, not the other way around.

You said particularly "the Pax can't handle the 'stickyicky'", implying you were providing top notch herb and the Pax simply "couldn't handle it".

I pointed out that it most definitely can and does, every day, for me and many, many others. I simply provided additional pictorial evidence of some very sticky herb that I use every day as opposed to just saying words. Sorry if it upset you or made you feel bad. Nobody made any assertions as to what you're vaporizing, not sure where the "brown weed" tangent came from. Sorry my pics upset you. (P.S. it's "loupe", not "loop". I know, I know..."jewelery is not your life either...")

Regarding the "Sorry, weeds[sic] not my life. Guitar is!" blurb, fortunately for most of us, we're able to focus and excel in more than a single task or interest at one time. For the record, I have been a professional guitarist for over 30 years, lately doing a lot of "hired gun" work in studio sessions for many different styles, mostly lead work in Jazz, Metal, Folk, and some Country. Primarily guitar, but also instruments like Sitar and Banjo. My last full band project CD is still available via any digital distribution method (iTunes/CD Baby/etc) as well as from a number of online retailers including Amazon, etc (Good Lord, man, has it been 10 years already??):

http://www.amazon.com/Dysfunctional-Harmfamily/dp/B000FTBEX8

http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/harmfamily

I'm also a network engineer and network security specialist with over 25 years under my belt.

I'm sure many others here who are intimately familiar with cannabis also have other talents they could share, along with their deep knowledge of cannabis, and "weed is not their life" either. In fact, I suspect that almost nobody here would say "weed is my life". You sound upset and defensive when you make such ridiculous statements about people you know nothing about.

If you're planning on sticking around to further discuss the Pax, how about you share some of your published guitar works with the rest of us in the process? I'd be interested in hearing some. That is, if you're not too upset. Otherwise, I'm moving on and wish you all the best.

Peace

Nice and handy! If the barrel end is the same, AND the polarity is the same, you're home free! I know the Pax is center +/ ring -, be sure to check the firefly adapter for the same.

The barrel end is the same size. I didn't check polarity with a meter but I plugged it In and it indicated it was charging.

I think I may have to call ploom the pax has been really finicky when trying to charge.you have to wiggle it around and get it on there JUST right for it to charge. Any little bump will stop it. I cleaned the contacts still no improvement.

As it is there's no way The pax would charge in a car.

Its the only problem I have with it.

You're good to go then if it's charging! The polarity on most of those units is right on the back as a little graphic showing tip and ring being +/-. I believe on the Pax charger it is anyhow, don't know about the Firefly one, but if you're charging you're solid.

On the Pax charging base, you may want to take a look at the contacts where they come out of the oval part. If you're careful, you can give 'em a little bend with a small needle nose pliers and give it better contact if that's what's happening. The contacts inside the Pax itself are generally pretty solid and immobile, but the ones in the base could get sketchy over time I'd guess and not make as solid a connection as when new.

So, no further Pax discussion, and as I figured, definitely no published works to share, just verbal histrionics and remedial grammatical errors. Color me surprised.

Congrats on the Nashville gig though, son. Wear gloves, I'd imagine cleaning toilets and dumping trash cans can get pretty messy.

Seeing as you have nothing further to discuss regarding the Pax and clearly you're fuming mad that you've been made to look a fool here, perhaps you can just go away now and let the adults talk?

Welcome to the ignore list.

The mod note in the post you quoted applies equally to you. There's no need for the sarcasm and insults. How do you expect this sort of reply to do anything but provoke a flame war? Consider yourself lucky not to have a warning point, and either play by the Be Nice rule or shut up.

Calling another member a clown like that is not being nice. This is the last time I look the other way.

I removed the post and told him I love him, and put him on ignore as indicated.

I enjoy participating here and provide plenty of info and assistance when I can.

This could have been handled in an IM, but clearly you wish to make a public point, so you do what you have to do, friend.

Shhhh... Never using your PAX on high tends to leave some of the sedative and calming effects behind and could make ya a bit paranoid!
