Nice to see the manufacturer participating here. This one definitely has my interest. Will someone pretty please do some video on this thing? I'm dying to see it in action and have only been able to find the powerpoint presentation that was posted earlier in the thread -- let me know if I missed something.
Connect it to a water path so we can see the clouds too, please :)

@marduk please contact me . I should be a verry simple fix .

@marduk thanks for the insight with the software access. I am sorry to say that my newly returned EV is not behaving in a rational manner. Had a few sessions, then the blinking red light syndrome, charged it for awhile, now just 3 blinks upon inhale and nothing. Too fucking frustrated to see what the deal is at this point. I think the amount of time we were without our vapes was justified if it resolved an(y) issues. I see more issues now that I have mine back. I will use my Lotus and then open up the EV, perhaps I lost a functional coil...more to follow. Mine does not charge very well via usb either. Fuck! I miss my functional "black box".

@mephisto Please contact me I think there i a very easy fix.

I would love to try this vape. how does this compare to the firefly?
I'm looking for a new vape. I currently own the pax and the solo as far as portables. now I want a convection not sure if I'm going to go with the firefly, smart vape, or the mivape. I want something that I can pick up and put down without burining my herb. which vape is best for this? Do yall think I would be able to do that with the mivape? wanting a new vape sucks! Do I go with the ascent, firefly, smart vape, dragonfly, mivape!? I want them all

So here is my quick review of my first couple days with my smartvape. I apologize in advance for how long this "quick" review got.

Right out of the gate I was very surprised by how small this thing is. Not sure the reports on it not being pocketable, I can easily fit the SV and 2 Jyarz in the front pocket my my regular blue jeans and roll around all day like that. Here are a few pics comparing it to an iPhone 5. Definitely way thicker but if you aren't wearing skinny jeans I can't imagine this being an issue

And one compared to a Jyarz
xqWO8wV.jpg

By far the best "sneak-a-toke" type vape I've ever seen. I can blow out 2-3 solid clouds on my way to check the mail, through the parking lot, at work;) without a second glance

You can tell some serious thought was put into the design to get so much into such a small box. Here are pictures of it being disassembled piece by piece
Ready to puff-

Magnetic bowl top off(ready to load) sans mouthpiece-(notice serial#9:))

Top off to clean sensor(takes 2 screws) and top of bowl screen off for cleaning(1 screw)-

Completely disassembled to clean vapor path and screen above heater (2 more screw)-
zPD6JIo.jpg

Very easy and quick to clean, anything needed can be soaked in ISO with no problems.the sensor just takes a quick brush off, but really only seems like it will be necessary once, maybe twice a week depending on use.

Now to the usage-
I will start off with saying that this is not going to evenly cook a whole bowl through like the solo without some stirring. It also will not replace my solo for a party vape. But for personal use or with a few people I don't need anything else period. if you are about efficiency this thing is the best I've personally used, but if you are only a cloud-chaser it will take a bit of work to blow fatty clouds ALL the time. There is no technique to blowing a few clouds, just inhale and that is it(so cool) but there is technique necessary to evenly vape a whole bowl. After thinking about it, it doesn't seem like much to ask given everything else this can do in such a small package IMO. So far I've been getting nice even color with a fine grind, semi packed bowl, and having to stir 1-2 times with a poker and 1-3 quick finger stirs, also given the fact that the bowl is so accessible it takes no time at all to check on the bowl and stir(even say, in a moving car alone:ninja:;))the bowl was a bit smaller then I thought being perhaps a hair larger then a PVHeS for the solo, but being so efficient it can last me a good bit of a working day. While I was at about 3-4solo stems per work day Im about half that with my SV! To get to the same level anyway, currently using more just because this thing is so damn fun to use.

The battery also well outdoes my solo and pnp as far as longevity (I would say twice the PnP and maybe 30% over the solo(total guesstimate) , lasting me a 12 hour work day including 4 hours of driving so I was puffing on it a lot more then I would have with the others. I never feel comfortable starting a "session" style vape driving in traffic near Seattle that's for sure. But the SV on the other hand sits loaded with a sativa bowl packed with kief at the ready literally any time you have 10 seconds! Easily worth the money for the driving part alone for me.

The taste- far better then I expected personally! You only taste the bud plain and simple. Not as delicious as my ceramic bowl solo, but honestly I would say even or slightly behind the ss bowl solo I had. But you do get the popcorn taste faster then in the solo's. But it is still miles ahead the vapor of the PnP, not even in the same class IMO. The biggest surprise is the coolness of the vapor, even at my high set levels it is perfectly cool:clap: Unless you combust of course haha, which can happen! Twice to me so far, both times trying to get the very last bit of my meds without stirring. So like I said before you will have to pay a bit of attention to how the bowl is cooking, fortunately with its pure taste you can tell when a stir is needed by the slight popcorn taste starting.

The app is just badass IMO, I love being able to have the vape hooked up, change a setting and instantly take a puff and try the new heat level without waiting for heat up or cool down time. Just the flip of the switch:rockon: No need to unplug or click the save button, it changes the heat setting in the vape as you are doing it in the computer for an instant test. I was told by Joe at Elevape that it is ok to puff on it while charging because it will automatically stop charging and heat up, then go back to charging when your puff is done. He also said they are working on it being able to heat and charge at the same time, the vape already has what's needed they just need to finish figuring out the software and they will update it! So cool to be able to simply download improvements. Which leads me to my last point, the people at Elevape- I have been dealing with Joe who was suggested earlier, he has been super easy to deal with, quick to respond to my questions (a shit ton of them), and genuinely seems to want to improve this vape and help everyone in the meantime:clap: My dealings have been nothing but great with them so far

All in all I am I'm loving this vape and the fact it has given me the ability to deliciously vape flowers ANYWHERE! And by the length of this big ass post you can tell it has me at a very medicated level so far today:ko: Sorry again for how huge this review got, but I'm stoked if you couldn't tell, and if anyone has any questions for me feel free to ask.

Thanks man, the build quality is outstanding! The whole body is machined anodized aluminum, and fits together perfectly with just 4 screws total for the body. Only 3 total screens and zero wiggle room anywhere.
Edit- I just left my nephews 12th birthday party at my brothers house. Everyone was amazed with the SV and asked why I wasn't hitting it in the backyard when we were out there... That was about 5-6 rips into it:D So sneaky it's awesome

Edit#2 - just realized the bottom pic in my review is not actually of the SV entirely disassembled, so here ya go. it was just rinsed off and i forgot to dry it for the picture

Where I could once fit a solo and 1 stem are now my SV, abv container, and 3 filled Jyarz:D
NXtZAZl.jpg

Now that's a ryot pack ready for a long work day:lol:- SC grinder, brush and poker, abv jar, about 15grams of 6 strains in Jyarz, 5 grams of 3 strains of oil and of course the SV. Great for on the go pain relief that I just wasn't getting from my oils, I'm loving it more and more everyday

@sasNW great review man! The herbalizer aroma pad fits the EV perfectly so you can raise the heat setting and rock the oils through your machine as well. My EV is quite particular about taking a charge. I tried my LG usb wall wart and it looks like green for go today.

Thanks @mephisto
you helping answer all my questions is actually the main reason I took the leap on this one. So thanks for the good call on this one!
Now I really want to try out one of those herbalizer pads, full convection oil bowl sounds great

Maybe I just got lucky, my EV has worked with my 2 chargers for ecigs, haven't tried a phone charger yet though

I think I may have received a unit that needs to be recalibrated. My experience is not very great so far with the Elevape. I have tried multiple temps and always seem to get a burnt herb taste and very uneven browning of the herbs, with some charred black and some still fresh green. Lowering the temp will give me one decent tasting hit, with subsequent hits with burnt taste...at level 5.

@sasNW or @mephisto, are you guys seeing uneven browning or burnt taste?

My thoughts as to why this is occurring is the screen for the bowl is larger in circumference compared to the coil below. You can see on the pictures above, that the heat from the coil below leaves a black mark on the bowl screen. This seems to concentrate the heat on the center of the bowl, which leaves the herb on the edges unvaped.

Yes it does seem to have a hot spot in the center, that's why I made sure the first line I wrote in the usage part of my review was that it required stirring. My first few bowls I was a bit disappointed with the uneven cooking going on.

But since I got my temps and everything dialed in I don't even need the stir stick. Just poke around with my fingers for a second a few times per bowl and I'm incredibly happy with the results.

With a regular space case grind I am getting all my abv pretty damn uniform on all of my settings with a quick finger prodding. Here is my abv from my long drive into work just a couple quick finger stirs while I was driving. SS haze on level 5- like a cup of coffee for me, I'm really impressed by how easily I can get my desired effect with the temp changes.
oqKLzVt.jpg

You can see a couple green specs from a tiny piece I didn't stir and still could have had a couple more clouds from but I was well medicated. I can easily get the whole bowl to the slightly darker brown above when totally finished, or all damn near coffee black on 18. For a 2 inch box that's pretty legit IMO. I'll post a bowl fully done later to show the uniformity

I definitely don't have any marks on the screen from my heater though. Perfectly clean minus this mornings bowl

Just got off the phone with Joe @Elevape, who provides the best customer service I've experienced. It looks like my coil may be raised too close to the screen causing the load to cook by conduction and centralized convection heat, which is creating the burnt taste and uneven browning. After I make some adjustments, I can properly review this vape, but I really do like the design and precision machined parts.

The height and angle of my coil seemed like it was fine, but with the way it's producing a burnt taste and very uneven browning, Joe said it could be something else. :hmm:
I'm hoping for an easy fix and quick return shipping. I was also told to expect a couple extra screens and coil for my trouble. :brow:

Thanks @Buildozer ! After all I've learned on FC I figure it's about time I manage to add a bit.

Another key inhale technique-
As far as the 8 second shut-off, you only have to stop inhaling for a quarter of a second and go back to inhaling to reset it. You don't need to wait for the red light to turn off before starting to inhale again. If you string 2-3 of those(so about a 15 second inhale) you can blow lung busting clouds at lower temps.

This thing is a godsend for pain relief in the middle of the night:bowdown:No waiting for anything to heat up, or need use you half asleep brain to attach anything, just grab, inhale and a pain relieving cloud is sure to follow. Here is my platinum kush bowl from last night on level 19. Can you say, fully extracted:ko:?

I ordered an Elevape last week that should arrive on Monday. I was wondering if the factory preset temps are working for folks? Or are you having to do a lot of tweaking to the temps to get a good vape?

I understand personal preferences and all. Just wondering if the factory temps are a pretty good starting point.

I understand personal preferences and all. Just wondering if the factory temps are a pretty good starting point.

I think the preset levels were 1-4-7. For reference I use 5 for my morning sativa. 12 for my afternoon. And 19 for my afterwork/indica/get stoned time! I would start with setting 2 or 3 if you can't change them before you start vaping. So don't hold it against the vape if you don't like it before you tweak with the settings. Give it a little time:tup:

Looks good. Do you stir your loads?

Yup, on that bowl probably 4-5 times. To extract the last little bit out on my settings you need to work for it a bit. Also depends on the strain. YMMV

Also when you are hitting it remember that the vape is taking its temperature reading from the coil, not the air passing through your herb. So breath control plays a huge part. When you are adjusting you temps take your regular inhale into consideration. On level 19 with a solid pull I'm getting that chocolate color above, but if I slowly inhale I can make it combust. So you can also use that to milk the last little bit out of your herb, it's all about getting your own technique down. Just remember to give it a little time before you fall in love like me:love: Again YMMV

I'd also like to add one more thing I've found I love. Being a long time combuster I am very accustomed to packing a bowl and going. This feels as close to that as I've come with a vape - You load it like a hand pipe, you unload it like a hand pipe if you want(just tap if out into your other hand) and when you stir it's just like a pipe.
Because you way the entrance to the air path from the bowl is set up and the fact it's cleanable to new in under 5 minutes you don't worry about getting bits in the air path. You just stir it up and make the bowl as messy as you want then simply pack it back down before you cap it. Makes stirring take 1 second

And you don't need to worry about losing the cap if you simply do this

I find that I stir between sessions. If the the load is packed tight then more sessions and more stirring. I think the observation that the load browns from the middle since the screen is smaller then the load chamber might be correct. When stirring it seems that you are bringing greener stuff in from the outside. I'm still playing with twisting the cap 1/4 turn after each draw to see if the browning changes but not sure I'm seeing any effect.

Joe advised me that my coil was bad. It was too small and was missing a complete outer turn. This was causing the heat to be centered and concentrated, which in turn would char the herb. Now, I'm just hoping for a quick return so I can thoroughly test it out. :science:
