I was curious to know how you guys are managing with these new restrictions regarding vaping in rental or shared living arrangements ?

Some people say vape still smells like weed and some people don't.

I'd like to move to San Diego from NYC for so many reasons but the smoking laws are freaking me out.

How likely is it that I won't be discovered vaping in an uptight condo or apartment setting ?

I am considering purchasing a volcano. I've never vaped weed before but I was impressed with the Nicotine Liquid...minus the fact that it got me sick. Otherwise I don't see vape vs smoke being an issue.

Can anybody give me a heads up or assure me everything will be ok.

Thanks for the help.

Vaping does put out a smell, how great depends on the vaporizer. I don't have the volcano maybe somebody else could chime in about that.

My Solo puts out the least smell of my four different vapes that I own. It's easy to cover any smell with food cooking or a candle. The smell doesn't stay, after the herb has heated up it doesn't smell that much with the Solo.

You should be fine. All is good. :rofl:I own my own home but I've vaped in smoke free hotel rooms. Never have had a problem. I don't live is CA, I live in WA.

Thanks.

I don't think I would like anything besides a volcano. This seems to be the gold standard of vaping.

Also I was curious to know if I should consider blowing vape clouds into a spoof filled with dryer sheets ?

I just watched a great video on youtube that said all models smell but ones that don't consistently burn like the FireFly might have less odor . Others like the PAX apparently continuesly heat the herb until the session is done.

Please correct me if I am wrong. I am a total noob.

Thanks for the help.

The smell is usually pretty minimal and dissipates quickly. Keep your front door closed. Vape in a bedroom/bathroom with the door close. Use a sploof at first, but you'll probably find it overkill. It seems more of like "dorm" type protection to me.

Hey CNYC, I like in SD and can probably give you some insight as I am dealing with this right now. I use a volcano vape and yes it does smell a little bit (hardly noticeable) but really isn't anything to worry about. I have never had an issue in the past but I recently moved to a condo and have had a neighbor complaining that he is smelling it somehow. Long story short, if you have your medical card and use inside your house with the doors closed, there is nothing anyone can do about it. I have had the police tell me this, multiple HOA's and attorneys, all with the same result. Don't let smoking be an issue for you in moving out here. If you want to be a considerate neighbor you can always get a SmokeBuddy which is a commercial sploof, but I wouldn't stress it too much.

Sqirel I just sent you a pm. I also included a few ideas for you and your situation.

I also want to thank the other members for their comments. As we all know smoking restrictions can drive you nuts.

CNYC, I'm a cannabis lightweight/ need very little herb. My miniVAP is like a small desktop/ big portable. With my tiny sessions, I believe there is no noticeable smell. Search youtube, vapefeind. miniVAP for a comprehensive review. Now if you load it up like him/ want to exhale a huge vapor cloud--it will smell.
I never see vapor on exhale and there is virtually no smell.

you don't wanna burn your weed at all... my arizer solo on top whack (7) does not burn my herb. it's like eating a satsuma when you peel it burst of smell but doesn't linger and stink the room out.

Once you move out, the smell won't linger for the next tenant. The smell it does create is more easily masked with candles, aromatherapy than smoke that impregnates itself in everything.

Enjoy California. From what I've been reading about NY's medical laws, you just may like it here.

How many times have we heard that here? Almost always an opinion held by those who have only stuck their big toe into the vaping world. Do some reading here and you'll find the "gold standard" has lots of cobwebs on it.

Welcome to the site!

Just my :2c:

The volcano might have been the gold standard years ago, but it is no longer the most beloved vape around this thread ha ha ha

I'm a recent convert to vaping (4 months since fucking combustion!). I vape constantly in my house. My wife has the nose of a hound dog. When I vape in the mornings she will come out of the bedroom and bitch about the smell (even with windows open). Of course I take huge rips from my nano - milking my bubbler with pure vapor, and i have my own detached home, so I have no neighbors to worry about - just a wife with a sensitive nose!

Vaping does smell, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The difference is how long the smell lingers. I can have a long session and fill my living room with vapor. If I leave the house and come back 5 minutes later, I can smell it. But if I leave for 30 minutes or an hour and come back, I can't detect any trace of the smell even when looking for it

I find vapor is a pretty easy scent to mask with a few drops of eucalyptus oil. A lot easier than the combustion days, where it would be ozium + incense + sploof and still couldn't hide the stink and it just turned the room into a carnival of freakish smells.

"Ratchett, are you stinking up the room again?"
*blows milky clouds of joy*
"Rachett!!"
*lights cookie-scented candle to diffuse smell and situation.

I'm not an expert but I have a strong opinion
My wife was never a fan of combusting in the living areas. Most of the time I just went down to the basement to take care of business. Now with the vape she is much more on board with me using it upstairs in the living room. Her only complaint at this point is the amount of gear that goes along with the vape. The odor dissipates so quickly and doesn't linger on anythibg

I still mostly head down to the basement. Its a nice way to get a few minutes to myself :ninja:

Yeah my wife doesn't mind the vape when it's evening and we have friends over and drinking. But she HATES waking up in the morning to come out of the bedroom to a cloud of smelly vapor, ha ha ha. It does dissipate fast, but only once you stop your session!

Since the weather is nice I've been taking my Nano outside or to the basement when she's home.

I only have morning sessions on the weekends. I also wake up with the dogs before SWMBO. I may not get to sleep in all that often but it makes for a much happier wife!

As long as you're not using one of these, I think you should be okay...

I am curious to know how you apply the oil. Do you use an oil burner or just dab some on the carpet /couch etc ?

I have am Herbie on the way right now. Let me know if you pick one up, and if you like it.

Will do but chances are it won't be until this winter. I am still acquiring credit card points to make the purchase.
