Herb Grinders

As a usa-based customer, when I buy an usa-made product I don't see the point of doing so from a foreign retailer, as unnecessarily going through the export/re-import process seems inefficient to me.

Is that non coated?
I think they called it "white satin" or something like that. To me it feels like they bead blasted it and then clear coated it. If they did tint it, its very subtle. I like it because you can see the water jet or cnc marks clearly.

@Vicki - Unless you really need a 4 pc, I would stick with 2. The screen is really tight on my red 4 piece and I really don't use it any more. I may "convert" it to a 3 piece.

Do you grind a lot at one time? I do not so find the 2 -2 1/4" to be perfect.
The 2 3/4" seems huge to me. Others like it or if they have hand issues/weak hands, the larger may be more ergonomic for them.
Do you have one now to compare to or find a soup can/ tuna can that's close to the two sizes and feel it in your hands.
My current grinder is 1 7/8 but next will be a SCS 2 1/4".

There is a new 3 piece, only available in small. Their website sucks bigtime for not listing exact size for each version. I think I previously found sizing on one of the retailers but can't find at the moment

I have both size scs's, and the 2.2" is slightly taller than the 2.75", oddly :hmm:

I've got/had a few grinders now, and these two are my favorites so far

MixnBall (unfortunately no longer available) remains my favorite 2 pc. design, by a large margin, due to the excellent anodizing and a great gripping surface on both sections (and no o-ring to worry about down the road). The MnB tooth design is also better than the standard diamond shape, found on the Space Case, but not as blocky/squared off as the SCS shape.

@max I just realized I had one of these put away in storage! Thank you for reminding me with your post. :)

I have been lately because I can't grind myself. The grinder pictured above is probably the same size as the medium Santa Cruz Shredder. I had it packed away, and completely forgot about it! :)

Good find!!
Previous poster said sizes are:

Pretty sure diameters are as follows...
  1. Mini - 1.6"
  2. Small - 2.2"
  3. Large - 2.75"
  4. Jumbo - 4" But someone with actual new small 3 piece said it is 2" diameter ???? Would they mess with our minds and size the 3 piece small differently ????

My go to is a special shot glass and scissors. Rasta MedTainer with Herbalizer sticker is for on the go. Highly recommend MedTainer.
ive tried the MedTainer once and at first it looked like some gimmicky container, but after trying it out i was impressed. good grind and the teeth are really durable( looked like it had been used a lot)which is what i was skeptical about.

MedTainer is food grade plastic. It air tight, water tight, smell tight. There are videos of people grinding up whole coffee beans with it and the teeth are untouched.

Really liking the SCS I ordered from blaze1 with the 20% off coupon(blaze20). They sent me a small when I ordered a large, which they did refund me the difference for instead of shipping it back. The small is working great for me either way, my sister was like "I like how silent it is".

I plan to let the kief collect for a few months at a time but wow that screen is fine. It seems to get a little extra through the screen when I use th ebrush that came with the herbalizer on it.

does anybody have experience with the mendo mulcher? an acquaintance of mine had one when i was in college but i never used it personally. it did look nice though and well machined. it was also one of the most(if not the most) expensive grinders on the market at the time

Heh, I thought it was just me. I've been looking in my kief collect thinking "wtf is all the kief??" - there's hardly anything in there! Seriously also thinking about converting to a 3 piece - is that bottom piece deep enough for herbs?

I'm not sure. I was so disappointed with the 4 piece that it still sits in my lab fridge, unused. I'll have to check l8tr when I am not so fucked up . . . :ko:

I've bought 2 Mendo's- a big 4 pc. and a mini 2 pc. Both had only two sharp edges (back and front) and would slice through the bud and then just spin, producing a very coarse grind which is fine for rolling a joint but not so good for vaping. The tooth design may have been changed since I got mine-can't say.

Pressing kief for vaporizing seems very counter productive, kind of like grinding herb and then pressing it into a brick before vaping it.

This is also the herb grinder thread and whether to press kief or not is off topic.
