I have screwed up. :(

I let my brother borrow my unit because he was going to a concert.

He thought he would clean it out before returning it to me and he tried brushing it out with a PLASTIC TOOTHBRUSH while the battery was in and heating! :(

The entire trench is covered in stubborn black toxic crap! I feel so stupid. I tried cleaning it by running it empty with a few new batteries to see if the burnt plastic would go away but it is still there. It is not performing well and has a horrible burnt plastic smell.

Ugh! I have already contacted Magic Flight to see if the warranty covers stupid.
That's the last time my stupid brother borrows a vape from me!

If your brother is old enough to vape, he's old enough to give you $90 for ruining your LB

Agreed. Tell your brother to cough up money for a new one! When you borrow something and break it, you pay for it. Period.

Only an unconditional warranty would cover stupid brothers, so you may be in luck. Last I heard Magic Flight had the only warranty that goes beyond manuf. defects.

Vaped a few hits on the upper balcony of the lecture hall in my last and easiest class of the day. There were probably 20 people in the upper balcony seats and I was within 5ft of two people.
I ghosted the hits and it produced no smell or visible vapor upon exhale. Nobody even noticed what I was doing...My buddy next to me couldn't even tell when I took a hit, and he knew I had it out.
I LOVE this thing!

Someone who uses cannabis to relieve symptoms of a seriously debilitating disease or ailment could greatly benefit from this vape. It allows one to medicate pretty much anywhere without having to worry about getting caught.

Anyone know what size tubing would fit either directly in the hole or over the smaller mouthpiece? I have an idea for a water filter but I need some additional flexible tubing.

I'm having a tough time getting the technique down with this one. I get pretty harsh hits even with a fast draw. Hits are almost to the point where I cough. I've used a few different vapes and none of them hit this harsh. What do you guys think, do I need to master the technique or is my box running a bit hot?

I got my LB a few days after new years eve and absolutely love it. It is great. My question is whats the LED they are talking about. I purchesed like 2 days before the price jump. I have a red glow at the bottom of the trench. But I thought it was just the heating element. If i look through the mouthpeice hole it looks to be a small metal bit. Does anyone know where to find a video of the led in action? And why did the price jump?

Some say they run hotter at first, so hang in there a bit.
Meanwhile, inhale a bit harder and quicker/shorter.
And/or don't wait as long to start hitting.

Are you using a long tube or the short stem?

At first the longer stems would cause me to cough because they seem to just cause that unless you breathe in very very slowly. Try going "native" with just the box, no stem... Or, if that doesn't work, try using a long stem or tube. (yeah, the opposite)

I'm sure it'll work out.

Wow, I've reached the end of the thread!

I started reading this at the beginning of December, after discovering the Launch Box online and loving the simple flame-less design, and in my spare moments since I've enjoyed following all the fun and games here in this thread. After a few pages of reviews and generally being blown away by the level of customer service offered by Magic-Flight, I sent off for my very own Launch Box. Being Christmas, it took a while, but was well worth the wait. I've had it a few weeks now, love it, and never leave home without it!

I picked-up a couple of 4-packs of cheap 3200mAh "Profitexx" NiMH Batteries (in advance), which sounds like a rip-off of some other cell, but turned out not only to be nice and powerful, but also a perfect fit for the Launch-Box (and when not vaping, the copper ring sits firmly in the battery's rim). They (4) take around two hours to charge in my Gomko fast charger, and hold their charge pretty well, so far. One battery will easily do a full trough (split over a half dozen or more long hits). Plenty batteries and a fast charger is definitely the way to go.

Stealth-wise, the Launch-Box has been everything I wished for and more. I've vaped in buses, taxis, the cinema, high street, in shops, nightclubs and more. No one was any the wiser! I even took my Launch-Box with me to a Metal gig last weekend (not my usual scene, but I know some of the band).

When I first got in, I sat down at one of the back tables, took a couple of small hits and then asked a girl sitting over from me if she liked to smoke weed. After establishing that I wasn't an LEO (I mean, who would ask a complete stranger that! haha!), I introduced the box. I told her it was so stealthy that you could take a hit and the person sitting next to you would have no clue. She didn't believe me. I said, "I've had two since I've been sitting here" We laugh. No way, she says. Way! And I give her a hit. She loves it. The FLAVOUR!!! And the rest of the trough goes like that over the next half hour or so, passing around the table as interested folk gather, talking up the box and getting very baked. It was a lot of fun!

I've had no problems showing people how to use it; emphasising the "pull slowly" seems to do the trick (telling them that only THEY can control the temperature, and to lift the tip of their tongue for more accuracy - thanks to whoever dropped that tip, by the way). And I always run it native, no tubes, for better control. Also, I kinda like the idea of lots of different people kissing the wood! Respect the wood! Pretty much everyone who sees it, wants it. Stealthy, simple and small; what more could you want in a portable vape?

I notice some people run out of puff before they finish a hit, because they aren't breathing in enough air. The solution is to simply breath in a little through your nose while you are hitting, so your lungs go back to feeling natural, and you can keep on sucking, sometimes for a very long time.

While I'm here, I wanted to expand on something aero18 touched upon (many many pages ago!), which was an extremely efficient cyclic breathing technique for inhaling vapour. No one has mentioned it since, which is a shame because isn't efficiency what this thing is all about?

What he/she roughly describes is a martial arts exercise designed to keep stocks of air (and power) in reserve. Coupled with a Full Yogic Breath, which I will describe, you have pretty much the perfect vapour inhalation system, 100% efficient, and 100% smell-free!

A full breath, like babies do naturally, starts in the base of the lungs (think groin when pulling the air in and down) and fills the lungs upwards, naturally, swelling out the stomach, then the chest (the stomach will naturally pull in slightly) until the lungs are completely full. Additionally, at the very top of the inhalation, you may raise your shoulders up to get air into those rarely-used pockets of lung infections love.

Now do that with VAPOUR!

If you go all the way and do the shoulder lift, you will likely cough buckets, at least the first couple of times, until you clear your mucus out (THC is a most powerful expectorant, after all).

Now comes aero18's martial-arts breathing. Once you have inflated your lungs completely with vapour-filled air, hold it a moment, and then slowly release air from only the top 10-20% of your lungs (this area should already be free of vapour). Then you breath only that amount back in again; repeat; effectively using only the top 10-20% of your lungs to supply your body's oxygen needs, while giving the vapour-filled air in the rest of your lungs time to fully absorb into the bloodstream. Slowly, you increase the volume of air breathed until, in a minute or so, you are again using all your lungs. NO VAPOUR IS EXHALED, EVER!

Obviously exhaling vapour is wasteful, but it's also not very stealthy, as people can smell it. But with an LB and the right technique, there's no reason one microgram of THC should be wasted! You can use the same trick with smoke, if you must, though it takes longer to absorb (you can exhale smoke many minutes after the joint has been put out!).

Anyways, thanks Magic-Flight for a great product (a vape for life!), and perhaps more importantly, for being such an exemplary company. Long Live Magic-Flight!

I clean mine after every trough, putting the battery in to discharge (and super-heat the screen) and meanwhile blowing through the hole. Then a gentle brush all over the screen and it's almost as good as new.

For tranatlantic flights and such I was thinking drop the whole thing into a glass of isopropyl alcohol, leave it a few minutes, maybe stir it a bit, drain off the THC-laden ISO (which could be used, though I wouldn't expect there to be much), and it's clean. The coating of oil on the box should prevent the alcohol drying out the wood.

In theory, it should be simple enough. But I suspect there must be a good reason NOT to do this, or else Magic-Flight would have already suggested it!

It's amazing.
List em! I'm sure we'd all be amazed haha
Sure thing..

The supermarket (produce section)
On line at the Post Office
VA Hospital, not the parking lot either;
Waiting areas
treatment rooms
Waiting for an ultra sound
Blood lab, not the waiting area, the actual chair, waiting for the phlebotomist.
Prostetics
and of course dental
and, oddly enough, the smoking area, and not one single person even bothered to ask me what I was doing.
And the LB still rulez.
Nuff' said.........

:peace: out

In my experience, isopropyl alcohol dries out wood and can damage finishes. It would probably strip the mineral oil off the box. I think dipping the brush in iso alcohol and cleaning the screen with it would work well, but I've never tried it.

i would say that dipping the bristles of the brush into the ISO would be the best bet.

i wouldn't want to submerge my unit in the iso. (wish mine would come in damnit!)

Alright thanks for the tip. I've tried both stems. I have been using the longer one more though so maybe I'll try the little one out again. I have been getting pretty nice clouds and the herb doesn't look burnt, just a toasty brown. I have had some problems with even cooking even with a lightly packed trench and shaking it after every hit. Guess I'll play around with it a bit more and see what I can do.

Presuming it is not a trade secret, can you describe the LB's power requirements, such as the voltage and current provided by your upcoming external power supply? Is the power consumption of the LB replicable with variable DC power supplies, or do batteries provide power in a manner that simply cannot be replicated?

I have access to lab/professional-grade variable DC power supplies with settings for 0-30 volts and 0-5 amps (at either constant or limited voltage or current), and could even hook these in parallel to get up to 10 amps, if needed. What settings will power the LB?

[There are surely very few with variable DC power supplies or likely to purchase these as an alternative to the dedicated unit you will be bringing out. But if you can't disclose the LB's power settings, if doing this might affect sales of your external power supply, I fully understand].

Insofar as the power requirements of the Box can be calculated (assuming sufficient physics/math skills) or directly measured (assuming that someone is willing to go through a fair bit of setup effort), they are not regarded as 'trade secrets'. However, there are a fair number of subtleties associated with powering the Box -- it is the case that the batteries power the Box in a difficult to emulate manner. The basic demand load is about 0.75 volts with a current draw of about 15 amps. At about 12 watts, this is -- by a huge margin -- the lowest power consumption and most energy efficient commercial/practical vaporizer on the planet! Only in the Lab have we been able to do any better with a custom (fully functional and optimized) vaporizer able to run on a mere 4 watts -- without a doubt THE worlds record in that regard (the details of this design, are however, a secret).

Our production power supply is capable of delivering a fully regulated temperature compensated 16 amps at 1.42 volts, and has a tuning screw to set the constant operating voltage at 0.71, (or higher if people want their units hotter). The power converter is expected to operate at about 93% efficiency (still being confirmed in testing). All of this, and a push-button switch, fits in a standard AA package format -- a rather remarkable achievement in itself (but that is another story). As you can easily see, such specifications are very uncommon indeed -- very unlikely that most bench-top power systems will have any chance with it. Also, as a purely custom converter, these are difficult and expensive to build (particularly since they involve somewhat rare and exotic parts -- to our misfortune and delayed schedules).

Hey guys, I was wondering if some of you could share your own personal methods for cleaning out the Launch Box? The bottom of my trench has an annoying sticky black tar that won't come out. I tried rubbing it gently with a q-tip with iso alcohol but to no avail.

Jellytime,
just tried some sanyo eneloop batteries I got at costco right out of the package super fast heat up of the LB mass vapor , way better performance than the energizers and the stock MFLB batts will update on the eneloops after more use and charges
