Gear Best Clearo for Pure Gold?

How much power are you driving into that coil? At 6W I get more vapor from the Kayfun that an Aerotank Mini, which seems toylike in comparison.

How often do you replace your cotton wick?

I'm still super new to building my own coils, but I was running a .5 ohm coil yesterday and a 1.4 today on a stingray clone with a IMR 18650 3.7v battery.

Hitting the sub-ohm was awesome, but unless I pulsed the button and took the smallest hit...which was still a lung full, I'd cough up a storm.

I'm replacing the wick once a day so far because I keep building new coils. Still in tinker mode...

Sounds like I will be picking up anothe kayfun. I use one for nic juice

These bottom feeder tanks all work on suction. There has to be an air pocket above the liquid that expands when you aspirate, to pull some liquid to the coil. Then a little more air will replace the vaped liquid and bubble up to the pocket. But the air pocket will also expand when it's hot, and the stuff gets thinner then too, so in the heat the air easily pushes liquid out the bottom connector.

And it finally hit me today: the emptier the cart, the more air to expand, the more stuff gets pushed out -> LEAK.

There are these little silicone caps that come on BUDs. They help a little and could be use on PT3 etc. But you can't fight physics. The only sure way is what @walrus and @215z said: carry them upside down and burp 'em as needed. Or keep 'em so full there's no air pocket ;-)

@Haywood, Boy, I got some Pure Gold PLUS. I dunno about the smell, it's either what they call "an acquired taste", or maybe it's what is known as "dank"? MY terpenes don't taste/smell like THAT. My wife made a face and said "I've smelled worse". I'm going back to get some of the Classic, that's GOT to have a more modest scent.

Never tried the plus; after your description, it's not likely I will.

My mPT3/AeroTankMini (type 2 atty) leaked again a little :( Carrying it upside down in the summer is what I'm going to try next. (Thanks @fernand) Kanger just showed yet another atty for the current generation of their clearos. Uses a solid ceramic wick for each of the dual coils instead of the silica wicks. Gonna order a few when I finally get home next week. Not sure it will make a difference in the leaking-when-warm part though...

I wonder if a ceramic wick might not distribute the heat and prevent hot spots. Can they be ordered stateside?

I ended up loading a mPT2 with puregold. And a BUD with super melt in 30% EJ Mix. Both are clear and doing well. Got a little seep on the BUD when hot and upright, but none on either since I started carrying them on the side, or upside down.

Well my mini protank 3 leaked over the weekend. It was going strong all week. I burped it of Friday and on Saturday I lost about .4 ml.

Are others experiencing leaking? Also how often are people burping?

Were you also using a first gen coil?

I really want to know which coil is best for not leaking on the mPT3.

Please let us know.

Hater alert! Skip ahead! Hater alert!

I hate on cheap clearos. Keep in mind, I'm the same guy who hates on micro-skillets, which like cheap clearos are getting people high every day, all over the world.

Cheap clearos leak. If not today, they will some day. Some day soon.

Do the math: dude buys $8 clearo and loses 0.4ml PG @ $35/half-gram

Why isn't there a dislike button on this forum? Dis-like my post.

I think 1st Gen. I got it from fasttech. I was going to rebuild them but if they continue to leak like that idk.

ALL bottom feeders leak out the bottom if upright in hot weather. Hot air always expands. 100%. The emptier the more leaking. Nothing to do with "cheap".

I have been driving for days in the heat with a BUD clearo 1/3 full of 70% supermelt + 30% EJMix, and a Kanger mini Protank2 1/4 full of PureGold and not a smidge has leaked. The PureGold is thicker. Both are carried 100% upside down except during use.

The BUD is best burped by opening the blue plug every few drags to prevent a dry hit. I don't even risk it. The mPT2 just works.

@fernand I accept that all bcc (even $200 tanks) will leak with pressure and temperature changes. It is the leaks in the absence of those factors which piss me off. In all fairness, the latest generation off mass produced bcc (Langer aerotank mini/mega, aspire nautilus) do not leak on me at all, but $30 for these tanks are in the realm of higher end tanks. A yiloong fogger v4 is $32.50, for example.

My theory is that the head-to-tank-base connection is the weak spot on these tanks, which rebuildable tanks don't have.

Tank users can't know if their heads (or head seals?) are worn out until they observe leaks, which is a lousy way to find out.

I'm having a horrible time getting my kayfun to wick well for more than half a tank...if that. If I take the tank apart and drip additional juice onto the coil/wick, it works great, but then the dry hits slowly come back. I've built micro coils from .5-1.8ohms and made sure the wick wasn't blocking the juice channels. Results all the same. The good hits could all be from the initial primer.

When I check the wick it seems to be wet, but maybe not wet enough?.

I've tried covering the air hole with my thumb and burping the lid of the tank in attempts to force more juice into the chamber, but that tends to flood the chamber and cause leaking more than anything else.

1g oil per 3ml 90/10 PG/VG heated in a water bath until mixed, then 1-2ml of flavoring is added depending on strength.

Any ideas?

fwiw, not a single Sapphire (BUD) I have, nor either of my two mPT3's or my Mini AeroTank have leaked from anywhere except the hole in the bottom of the positive connection. And I completely agree with @fernand that this is due to temperature and pressure changes. His solution appears to work ("carry it up side down, use it right side up").

If you have a badly designed clearo, maybe the contents can leak from the tank part, but as I said, all of my leaks have occurred though the atty intake air path itself, not from anywhere else (and only when the clearo was over 80°F and mostly empty, as the trapped air expands and pushes the contents down and out).

@215z you use a kayfun and don't have any problem with leaks? Or dry hits?

Really wish I didn't buy 3 mPT3's since they leak...

@Haywood do you burp your protank regularly? If so how often?

I had a leak on my first tank fill, because I overfilled. None since then, I quit being a gluttonous buffoon when filling.
I get a dry hit when the tank is empty, which is my signal to refill.

@calimed you are experiencing wick issues. Too much? Too little? Give us a pic of your deck.

Haywood: do you burp your protank regularly? If so how often?

Never burped my mPT3 or mAT. Only time I open them is to add more Pure Gold or replace the atty.

I haven't used a Sapphire for a few months, but when I was, I don't think the burping was driven by time. When it started giving me weak hits, and the battery was fine, I burped it. :)

@215z thanks I have a kayfun lite plus i use with nic juice ,but goin to purchase a 3.1 to use with ejmix oil.

@Haywood so to avoid the leak from the mPT3's you just keep it up side down until when it's not in use?

Thanks again guys.

I (now) keep it up side down when it's warm out side and sitting in my pocket. When I'm home, and it's sitting in a holder on my desk, it's right side up.

Here is the latest build I have on my kayfun. Slightly more wick than the past couple builds, I tried wrapping some of the wick back over the top.

He hits that vape! But it is actually his cotton wick that is sticky with concentrate, I can't even see the coil.

@calimed is that a kFL or 3.1? Also do you ever have any leaking and does you oil juice wick well in the kayfun?
