Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

I dont own the ascent, but a friend of mine got it and the first unit they send him stoped working. he asked for replacement and payed shipping to send it back. The replacement that came smelled like burned plastic when turned on,they told him to do 10 burn off session. it stoped working before he completed the 10 burn offs...now probably he has to pay again for shipping it back..
With my returns of Ascents to DaVinci, I paid for the first return and they were to send me a return label for the second return with a replacement. I got my 2nd replacement but no return label for the defective unit.
DaVinci will most likely pick up the shipping after the first return if you ask

The Ascent is criticized for its large convection oven...

The Ascent is a conduction oven vaporizer; however air is drawn in through the load. It could be called a hot conduction-cool convection combination.

Correct, the Ascent is a conduction device. There's no such thing as cool convection though, convection comes from drawing hot air through the load.

Naw, of course there's cool convection, I do it all the time. It just doesn't work very well at all (I recommend 'doing it right'....) so it's not near as popular. You'll have to wait a long time between posts of guys bragging up their skills with cool convection........

As a general rule I think conduction vapes are easier to get good vapor out of?

Your friend will have to do this over, and over, and over again until he gives up. It's a very unreliable unit that WILL let you down! Mine spends more time in the mail back and forth then the time I actually get to use it. I did however love it, on the occasion that it worked.

If sending more flawed units to paying customers is "top notch" what would you think if they actually solved, and or fixed the problem?

This is over the top. Lots of us (me included) have never had a single problem with the Ascent. I sympathize with your troubles but it is blatantly untrue that anyone would have to make repeated returns or that the Ascent is completely unreliable. You should be more careful how you phrase things.

Most people don't have 15 or so vaporizers. Most people spend HARD EARNED money on their purchases. The two people I replied to ARE having the same problem I'm addressing. No reason to be careful about the truth, even though it sometimes hurts.

You have exaggerated the situation far beyond reason. You have also been cautioned before that you have had your one post to complain about your problem. You are posting to justify why you should be allowed to continue to break the rules. That's quite enough. Please don't make me give you a warning.

I agree with the idea, a second swallow doesn't make a Spring however.

This here internet is not even close to an objective data set. No serious study of quality would ever be made on a bunch of self identified guys with declared problems not using their real names.

Think about it, we have folks here who are convinced that the color of the case effects the quality????

I don't think you can dismiss Pak and the other happy owners experience just because they have more vapes than you. The fact remains that they don't have the problems you seem to think are common. I fail to see how their owning more vapes makes their observations/experience any less valid, in fact quite the opposite.

This also brings up a point I've noticed. Those who get on these pages and wail the loudest about how they've been betrayed by bad products are so very often talking about their one and only vape? Who's fault is that? Any vape can fail, a thinking man needs a backup plan for when that happens. Crying about how unjust the world is, or how flawed any vape is when one's judgment is tainted by their own failure to plan for the risk of failure makes me all the less ready to take their view as seriously as the next fellow that has other vapes/experience to add perspective and other vapes to prevent 'withdrawal' from effecting their judgement.

Please understand I'm referring to the class, not any specific poster. Some vapes seem to attract more of this than others.

Putting all your eggs in one basket is not good advice. Accept that there will likely be problems, have a backup. To do otherwise is to make it entirely too easy for Murphy to make your life harder than it needs to be.

Good luck in your quest, perhaps a different vape might be a better fit? And a backup? Nothing fancy, maybe a MFLB or VG?

You were told that you had given your warning often enough and were asked to stop posting about this. You were even given an extra chance through a PM. Warning point issued.
Well I'm so very sorry, I didn't know that I was ONE OF THE VERY FEW that has had such BAD LUCK with my REPEATED Ascent failures. I did not post on this forum to get all your panty's bunched up, and I certainty did not want to bash my Ascent. As I said, I LOVED IT, I never exaggerated my actual experience, and I can only hope that my luck changes and withinin the next few, one of them might continue to work. I just wanted others to know, and wanted an HONEST, FAIR, UNBIASED review of possibly another PORTABLE, GREAT TASTING' ON THE GO VAPE. But it would be nice if it also worked

Lots of us (me included) have never had a single problem with the Ascent.

As this cropped up again, let me throw my hat into the ring. I have a few Ascents, one of them longer than almost everyone here (thus, one of the oldest units that is floating out there). In addition to that, I have bought some for friends, and had other IRL friends (I'm talking non-FC people I know, not people I have met here.) that have picked one up after trying mine. I think the total is now up to 11 units I have first-hand knowledge of, including mine. Not one of them has reported an issue. (I had a charger that developed a bad connection, but the Ascent is fine.)

I understand how frustrating it is to get a bad unit, let alone two or three in a row, and I feel bad for people that encounter that. I frankly can't understand how the odds work such that that happens, but I can understand how to a person on the receiving end, it might *seem* like EVERYTHING is broken.

But that really is a sampling bias issue. If one focuses only on the bad units, then that just confirms the assumption that goes into the hypothesis. Or more specifically, you assume your conclusion in your premises, and then think your conclusion is valid.

That's an issue of circular reasoning, and a fallacious means of thought.

I realize that's little comfort to someone shipping a unit back, who is perhaps more driven by frustration and emotion, than rationality, but the best I can say is "Hang in there, as there are an awful lot of good units out there. The Nth time is a charm!" :) :)

Not sure about this product

Can't seem to get ripped off it, unlike my da buddha

The unit is also unstable as it does not heat itself sometimes.
I have to turn it off and on to resolve (minor annoyance)

Just not sure about it, as when I turn the heat up to high 300s and 400s it doesn't taste great but I get vapor

What's the sweet spot for these or is every unit different?

Have not posted on this site for some time. My 3rd Ascent stopped heating yesterday. After two failed units last fall, I received this one on 12/13/13. Have used my Solo as my daily drive and held back the use of the Ascent after the two previous failures. (1st was DOA and 2nd stopped heating after a month) I have used this several times a week for six months and have handled with kid gloves. Actual number of uses is probably very close to that of the 2nd unit that failed. aprox 60-70.

Will request another RMA and go thru the process again. Love my SOLO, would not recommend the Ascent, but will keep and use it once received.

There are many of us with multiple failures. (Hell I've been married twice.)
