Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

It seems that you have answered your own question. If you can only fit 2 flowers in the bowl you obviously have bigger flowers. Why didn't you just ask about the size of the flowers? Not trying to be sarcastic but lots of people jump into this thread without reading any previous posts and keep asking questions that have been already answered many times over.

Yes I was quite aware I had larger flowers that wasn't the question, I was merely wanting to see how much smaller they were in comparison to the bowl of the ascent.

Thank you for the photos Carolking, appreciate it

 So proud. My son bought his first Ascent. He got the skulls model.
Combustion was gonna kill him, I had to do something, so I subsidized his purchase.
We had "the talk" about flowers, pucks, packing and the clouds this weekend. Great fun, I hope your Father's Day was just as fun.:)

I had a recent long weekend at a nice motel in one of the communities north of the Golden Gate bridge.
The top (2nd) floor room had a balcony overlooking the pool area and walkways around the commons.
The Ascent was enjoyed there, in the shade and partial privacy of the trees. The breezes took away my vapors.

So I'm thinking about buying a new portable. either the firefly or the ascent. I already own the pax, solo, and herbalizer. I like my pax, don't love it. I need something convection as something fast which I believe the firefly would be best for only because I'm certain it is convection. Also I don't like how when I use my pax that I have to put a good amount of herb in it and vape it all in one session. How does the ascent compare the both the firefly and the pax? Is it convection? Would I be able to hit it once and stop or is it best to finish the session?

You can put the Ascent away after a few hits. There is a big difference in the effect, but not necessarily in strength between those beginning hits and those at 25 minutes. Usually you have to hit the Ascent twice to clear the vapors after cutting it off.
There are techniques to load and efficiently vap small loads. The Ascent is criticized for its large convection oven, but also the large capacity gives it the capability of a large desk model to vap up to five folks. Glass flowers are used to increase the heat sink effect to maintain temperature with multiple slow pulls. All discussed in detail above. Two year guarantee is always honored, there are a few defective units made with current manufacturing processes and backup vap capabilities are advised, as with any portable.

As I have experience only with the Ascent, I make no comparisons.

I use the Ascent as I did in my youthful tobacco pipe days. Load the bowl and enjoy a leisurely session.
Obviously, the size of the bowl load can vary, a lot. I do not fill the bowl. Others here report using very small loads and glass flowers. I break glass bowls.

The Ascent is a conduction oven vaporizer; however air is drawn in through the load. It could be called a hot conduction-cool convection combination. One could heat the Ascent to a chosen temperature, shut it down and hit off it. These hits will cool the bowl and load, decreasing if not stopping the baking (turned it off remember).

I have also stopped in my step-up procedure*, shut down and later returned to "getting it on".

* Think Arizer Solo steps 2, 3, 4, 5.... Like that!

You can use as much herb as you want in the Ascent. If you buy the glass flowers (pipe screens) you can use more or less. I sometimes only use 3 or 4 and other times I use 6 or 7, they work really well as spacers and to distribute heat. I have used my unit and decided to turn it off and go back to a bit later. I had no problems with that, just got right back to where I left off. This unit you can choose the exact temp you want whether it's 365 degrees or 420+.

I've used wax inside herb and had very good results. I haven't read any success stories with the oil cans though. I have wrapped wax inside cotton and it worked very well too.

I don't own a pax but have tried one. IMO the vapor doesn't have as good of taste. Towards the end of the bowl it just didn't keep the flavor like the Ascent. The Ascent is very portable and easily put in a bag or pocket. A wooden stem can make it even better without worrying about breaking glass and you still have marvelous taste.

I don't own a Firefly and never have used one. I think it could be expensive just buying the extra batteries. I would want at least 2 extra. I've read that the batteries don't last very long on a charge. It doesn't look as stealth to me as the ascent, but I have read that the flavor is suppose to be better or as good as the Solo. Probably depending who's making the comparison.

I'm curious about the Indica.
Sometimes it comes down to personal preference.

I wouldn't call it a large convection oven.

I'd choose the FF over the Ascent, almost any day of the week, but depending on the situation.

If you want a hit-and-quit portable, IMO, nothing beats the FF.

I suggest you ask your question in the "Ask FC" portion of this forum and see what happens...

Id get a magic box before a firefly - same principle. No temp control etc.

Especially the price differential :)

As a previous owner of an MFLB, and a current owner of a Firefly, I can say with no hesitation, the FF performance differential far outweighs the price differential. In my occasionally humble opinion. It's not even fucking close. The MFLB is a great device, no doubt, but the FF is a more than a step up.

Same principle? Huh. Okay then.

But, this would really be better suited for the Ask FC section. However, I can't help myself from replying to a statement like this.

I dont own the ascent, but a friend of mine got it and the first unit they send him stoped working. he asked for replacement and payed shipping to send it back. The replacement that came smelled like burned plastic when turned on,they told him to do 10 burn off session. it stoped working before he completed the 10 burn offs...now probably he has to pay again for shipping it back..
