The HI

I now also see why a lot of people use voltage keepers on logs...I shall get one myself..it will be nice to tone it down just a bit to make the herb last longer...lol...right now the way the temp is set on this thing..it is a head banger which is okay I am cool with that.

Yep, I am still loving my Voltage Keeper vvps.. I can find about as much wrong with it as I can my Heat Island... which is ... well, you know! My HI gets lonely without it... So tasty at 10.25 volts!

Seriously, shoot Mr. Voltage Keeper a PM and then prepare yourself to find out more about voltage keeping than you may have ever expected...

Have heard good things about the other vvps's available through FC, but have not used any of them.

@way2 - Thanks for posting the photo. Hope you have had a chance to try out all of the roasting tubes.

@JJ420 - Great to hear you are having more success with the WonG tube. You happen to have THE very first WonG tube ever made. It originally had a glass roasting tip.

@hoyo77 - Glad to hear it arrived safely and you already have it mastered. Those Turbo Tubes do make some serious clouds. The wood tube has almost as good of air flow but doesn't remove as much heat from the air stream. I use a cotton swab soaked in alcohol to clean the wooden tubes. Will continue to make improved vaporizers. Maybe a portable some day. Thanks for your support.

@EveryDayAmnesiac - Good to hear you are still enjoying your HI. Hope I can get your next one to you sooner. I don't use magic to create the HI although I could get them done faster that way. Heat Island Technology is the key to the performance.

Here is a short clip of a stainless steel heater cover turning on my lathe. You can see there is hardly any metal connecting the upper and lower parts of the heater cover. The slots form the air intake openings and also block the heat from conducting down to the lower heater cover.

@catbird - Sorry about the wait. It will be well worth it. You never know what I might create by the time I get to your name. It will be something special in any case. Most of my roasting tubes also work for the UD so they well get along great.

I love seeing this stuff! Alan, should you ever find the time / means, I'd love to see some more vids of the creation of a HI...

A fast-motion vid of the whole process would be amazing...

@Alan does the glass core get hot enough to dab? and also are you going to make fluidization tubes for the Hi????

I could be wrong... but I don't think so.

One thing I do is when cleaning my wax pen, I'll take the cotton once the iso has evaporated out and vape it in a stem with the HI. The residue on the cotton from the wax or oils will give you some great vapor but the heat doesn't burn the cotton.

ok..i see. I have never dabbed before, strictly a flower child...but I do plan to try it and it would be nice to do it in the high. I think the SS core gets hot enough to dab with some steel wool. @Alan works a like a mad scientist so I am sure there we will be some advancements in his core designs.

@hoyo77 IMO "dabs" and logs are working good together. But I wonder then if a "convection dab" is still a dab ? (lol, clear me on that). On that subject, I can tell you I like concentrates (better ice-water extract : solventless :p) with a vaporizer while I didn't really enjoyed on a nail. On the taste/harshness side, 1st of all, but also the kind of high (probably it was too hot and too big as a 1st time dab). I'll give a try later again on the nail-dab but I'll probably sell that "one-time-used-and-seasoned-nail" if not satisfied with some low temp heated icewax.

Peoples, my HI will be sent soon ! I've been waiting enough. So as soon as I could afford for it, I made the choice on wood possibilities, etc.. I could have wait again to order wong and stuff, but I must rock my expected Hi on VK (+winecork tube).
Couldn't wait any longer after +- 15 months thinking about it. Will be picturing, of course..but only when at home !

Soon...

@EveryDayAmnesiac - Would be fun to make a HI creation video some day. Need to get a few more finished first. Always something to be made.

@Bvapst - Hope it arrives quickly so you can start enjoying it.

@hoyo77 - The use of a fiber like cotton (or hemp) as mom mentioned is the best way to use oil with the glass heater cover. The wine cork tubes that I make do have some fluidization. They work quite well with the HI. They seem to work the best with the stainless steel heater cover. I have had some luck with with dabbing with a ss heater cover HI using a nest shaped piece of pure gold wool I got from a good friend. The HI puts out around 8 watts near the normal operating voltage. 15 to 30 watts provide a more complete volatilization of the oil. More like a true dab. Working on a version of the GTV that will allow "Aerodabbing" with metal wool.
The glass blunts look to be a little small for the HI. The ID of the glass needs to be 10mm as the ss heater cover of the HI is about 9.5 mm and the glass heater cover is about 9.9mm. Would be nice to find someone to make custom glass roasting tubes for the HI some day. Everyone I have contacted either is not interested or just ignores me. Glass work is one of my least favorite tasks, but is necessary.

Here are a couple of 13mm glass tipped wood roasting tubes I recently made. They are made from ebony and cocobolo.

you and Ed give me very SEVERE cases of stem/wong envy...I need to get HI now to calm my envy!!!
@Alan the inside diameter of the glass blunt is 10mm so that should cover the core right. This is for the XL glass blunt. They also make custom sizes as well.
XL – Deluxe – 16mm heavy wall (outer diameter) = 10mm fill hole – included 9.5mm stem

@hoyo77 - If the inside of the glass blunt is 10mm, then it should work. The concept is very similar to my 2 part glass roasting tube. I have a 13mm x 10mm glass tube with a 10mm mouthpiece tube slid inside. The tubes are connected together with a silicone sleeve. I etch the glass so that the screen will stay in place. Looks like you don't even need a screen with the glass blunt. Any vaporizer with a 3/8" ss center tube should work with the glass blunt.

HI folks! My name is Vapinghole, and you may recall me from threads such as the "Bump This Thread if You're Vaped Now!" thread, and the "Athlete Vaporists?" thread.

:freak:

Anywho... Just took down two loads of wHIte rHIno before bedtime with my striped maple HI, which recently turned (pun intended) two years old. It's not flinched since. Solid as solid gets, it is.

Soon I'll see photos of my new, glass-core HI--Alan keeps me updated, true to his excellent method of operation and service. He tells me it's a gorgeous piece of walnut with funky stripes and shit. And an ebony cap. Sexy. When I get it, my maple HI gets a well-deserved rest.

I don't post here much--busy as all get out--but I'm certainly keeping track of you all, my fellow JedHIs, and I'm with you in spirit.

@Alan - Thank you once again for your care in taking care of me.

So, wondering how you, too, can join the JedHI ranks? Starting your journey is simple: Contact Alan and get on the waiting list!

Good night, all!

What's everyones favorite roasting stem that mates to glass? I have used glass and silicon with my UD and I was wondering how it compares to a SS roasting stem.

Also, what size barrel for the PS adapter should I be looking for? I might have some from orphaned electronics, there are just so many, and I'm a newbie with it comes to electronics!

chillin on the couch, sippin off a 22 ounce.
Was digging through my box of vape accessories this past weekend and realized that I had one of Alan's stainless to glass adapters (SSonG?) in my possession. Oh joy! Totally different than the wood on nylon adapter that affixes itself on the OUTSIDE versus the more traditional INSIDE with this new found stainless adapter (apologies to anyone if I'm not making too much at this point). I still prefer the wood on nylon overall, but the SS on glass can #1.) be dialed down to 10.8v compared to the wood's 13+ volts, and #2.) it conserves flowers like a mofo... really, as in PD-like efficiency!

Fine. I was going to tease you all for a week or so, but I'll share Alan's pic once I get home to my desktop.

Modnote: .... and some time later at Vhole's desktop...

Alrighty, @Stu and all you JedHIs, here's a sneak peek at my tasty new HIsaber!
