Discontinued Elevape SV

Update on my experience so far:

After 4 weeks, I received my supposedly repaired Elevape yesterday. Plugged it into my laptop, the software reported 58% charge. Left it connected to see how fast it would charge. The indicator bar moved from 58% to 59% after half an hour. Thought this was very slow and might be because the software was running while charging. Decided to charge it from a wall outlet using the stock Elevape cable and adapter.

Well. After 24 straight hours of charging and no green light, I plugged it back into my laptop to check the battery charge level. The level was at 61% after 24 hours. Only 2% charged in 24 hours!

So I waited almost a whole month for them to fix the vape and it comes back defective. WTF? Did no one do a simple diagnostic or any QC on it before sending it back to me? I'm kicking myself for not dealing directly with Vapor Nation as soon as I realized the unit was DOA. I would have gotten a new unit via exchange long before this. As it stands now, I have no option but to get back in touch with the Elevape people and wait for who knows how long to get this fixed. Again.

And where's Ipuffusa? I thought the manufacturer was going to be active here, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. He hasn't been back to the forum since posting on May 7th.

I'm so frustrated I can't think straight or even begin to explain how I feel right now. Aarrrrghhh! :bang:

Damn sorry to hear that man. not good news since I just placed my order. Have you tried using it? Hopefully it at least functions better?

I wouldn't be too worried if your unit isn't DOA. It's a solid design, it just sucks for me that I'm the only one so far who got a lemon.

The original problem was that it would only activate the heater on inhalation if it was plugged into a computer USB port. It wouldn't activate if connected to a wall outlet USB charger, nor on battery power even though the "fully charged" green light was on.

I just did an empty draw and it does activate the heater now. But I'm not going to put anything in the bowl and use it because it will just cause more frustration for me since the battery can't be recharged.

@marduk it seems you and I are having similar issues with the Elevape. Both of my units were at "the factory" for the past 4 weeks. I do not have windows, so I can't access the charging/ setpoint software. My EV will not charge from the wall charger. I have had decent communication with Ipuff, although I can't say that any noticeable "upgrades" were performed. Only tried the first unit and it seems to function ok. The EV has a lifetime warranty, and I will certainly be using this feature if there are any remaining issues. Good luck with your EV. If you need contact info for EV, I was in contact with Mark Fiocco, and Joe Gaspar.

Well damn, sorry to hear that about both your guys EV's. Just got confirmation from Joe on my order, hopefully mine can stay away from the factory for a bit.

With how new and innovative this vape is, I am sure I will be using that lifetime warranty sooner or later. But I really do love that this "factory" is in the USA. Really hope they get all the bugs worked out, and honestly I am ok with jumping in early and coming across some issues in order to support innovation and made in America. Just my thoughts, but I'm definitely not trying to downplay your guys' issues above, that really sucks that it took 4 weeks for that.

Really hope you guys get taken care of quickly by Ipuffusa, good luck @marduk and @mephisto and thanks for your reviews, please keep us posted on how these issues play out

Hi Fc users sorry I have been out for a while I was traveling. Marduk the reason you are getting inaccurate reading is because there is a software update to the firmware upgrade that is running on your unit , if you send me an email I can send you the link or you will be able to download it from our server tomorrow afternoon.

@Ipuffusa I just sent an email to Mark requesting the link. If a software update can fix this problem I will be very happy! Thanks!

edit: I forwarded a copy to the sales@ipuffusa.com address to make sure you get it.

edit#2: Joe sent me the link within minutes. Kudos for doing this on a Sunday. Charging appears to work well now. Charge status was 100% to start, then I did some draws to take it down. It took 27 minutes to charge from 92% to 100% when reconnected to my laptop.

My only remaining issue is that the LED on the unit itself doesn't change from yellow to green to indicate a full charge. I have an email in to Joe about this, and I'm hoping this can also be fixed by a download. I've got my fingers crossed.

If I just purchased from VN, would this one already have the firmware upgrade or will I require the new firmware so it charges properly?

@sasNW thanks for the reasonable outlook. I agree with your point of view completely. I have no loss of love for this vape, or its founders. The form factor is on point, the usage and performance are what I am looking for, and the customer service is as good as I can expect. I should amend my prior post to include the fact that Joe threw in 3 spare heat coils, and a few other items to atone for my lack of elevapeness..... I look forward to potentially accessing the software/temp charting via Mac platform. For now, my EV is back to punching me in the face with little effort. Thanks Ipuff and fellow contributors

My unit will charge with a wall outlet if I use my LG cell phone wall adapter. On my computer dead battery shows as 50 percent charged and full battery at 60 percent. I go off the green light to indicate full charge.

I'm liking my Elevape a lot. Bumping up the temp settings in the software = big clouds! I think it's worth the price, but if the price ever gets under $200 and the early bugs are ironed out, this thing will kill off the MFLB. It is so stealthy and so easy...

With the increased temp, is the vapor hot and harsh since the vapor path is so short?

It's still cool at 27. There's a lot of aluminum in the vapor path. The vapor does get warmer after several consecutive hits because of retained heat in the vapor path, I think.

30 is the max setting, I tried 28 and got a bit of combustion, so I decided to make 27 my personal max. I do fast draws, which pushes up the temp and gives thicker vapor. Someone doing slower draws might get different results at the upper end. :peace:

I'm thinking a bottom feed atomizer (air comes up through the 510 connector) with a stove top coil with screen on top might work to for dry herb on a rebuilable, if this vape is any indication.

Nice that they gave you extras to make up for the month-long lack of elevapeness. I didn't get any.

I'm with you on the Mac thing. I'm actually using Boot Camp on my Macbook to access the software, so it is a bit of a hassle. I'm still fiddling with the temps, going back lower than I expected, but I think once I finalize the settings, I'll hardly ever check the software. Assuming my charge indicator starts working, the lack of Mac software will be a non-issue for me at that point.

So it might be worth it to borrow a friend's Windows computer... you might be able to adjust the temps to where you want them quicker than you might think. Once you have your 3 temps, I don't think you'll miss the software. :2c:

@marduk thanks for the insight with the software access. I am sorry to say that my newly returned EV is not behaving in a rational manner. Had a few sessions, then the blinking red light syndrome, charged it for awhile, now just 3 blinks upon inhale and nothing. Too fucking frustrated to see what the deal is at this point. I think the amount of time we were without our vapes was justified if it resolved an(y) issues. I see more issues now that I have mine back. I will use my Lotus and then open up the EV, perhaps I lost a functional coil...more to follow. Mine does not charge very well via usb either. Fuck! I miss my functional "black box".

Nice to see the manufacturer participating here. This one definitely has my interest. Will someone pretty please do some video on this thing? I'm dying to see it in action and have only been able to find the powerpoint presentation that was posted earlier in the thread -- let me know if I missed something.

Is the mouthpiece on this interchangeable with ecig drip tips? It would be nice to find a mouthpiece you like and be able to use it.
